In what way does your game fit the theme?
You play as a cassette tape and you leave a tape trail as you move. You can rewind the tape which moves you back to where you were previously, while destroying enemies in your path. Plus the graphics and sound effects help rewind you back to the 80's.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code myself and made most assets from scratch. I did not make the music, fonts or most of the sound effects, but they are all licensed for commercial use. All the attributions are on the game's page. Every other asset was made by me.

Can't stop playing! Amazing game! Very retro. For a few minutes I forgot we're in 2020 and went back to 1988 (when i started to listen to music)
But not only the music is great. The gameplay is very addictive! And the mechanic about rewinding the cassette to destroy the enemies. Man, seriously. By far one of the best games I played in the Jam.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Thank you so much! Your comment is so kind, and you happen to be the 100th rating for the game so I very much appreciate it!
The retro feel it has is amazing! I love the music, good job!
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it.
The music is soooooo good. I liked how each level not only had its own bop, but its own shooting and enemy patterns. The gameplay is solid, and I'd play more if there was more. I do wish the difficulty scaled or was higher in general. I played for a good while, but never did I accidentally die.
Thank you for the great feedback! Difficulty changes will be included in the post jam update, along with new levels!
Great Game!
Thanks!
Nice! I like the tape limitation.
Thanks for playing!
Best take on cassette tape and rewinding does damage mechanics in the jam so far! Also, love me some Home. Thanks for introducing me to EVA and Three Chain Links. Great work!
Wow thanks so much! Glad to hear you are familiar with some of the music already. It was super fun listening to all the tracks and picking them out for the levels.
It's hard to find anything I didn't like but if there is one thing I would like the rate of fire to be higher :)
Haha thanks! Level/weapon balancing will be coming post Jam, your feedback is appreciated.
You're welcome and feel free to play my game as well :)
Cool game, I like how you implemented the theme.. the rewind is perfect .. Graphics and music are nice..
Good Job.
My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it. I will check out yours in a bit.
Amazing job!
Thanks!
Okay that was awesome aha
Graphics are so so good. And I mean, the concept is very good !!
I loved the rewinding music and the fact that you could kill ennemies by rewinding in them...
Maybe a bit too stiff on the controls ? But nonetheless, a great game !
Thanks for the comment! May I ask what about the controls is stiff? Specific details would help in making future changes to the game!
Very cool, liked the graphics!
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it.
Graphics are nice, game feels and plays really good, and some banging tunes. Overall really nice game!
Thanks for the kind comment!
This one is sooo cool, all the art and graphic and music 10/10
Thanks for playing! Appreciate the comment.
Perfect!!! This such a cool twist on an already thoroughly established genre! It really forces you to think about movement in a very unique way and is also gorgeous looking and sounded as well! This is probably the best submission I've seen in the jam so far! Well done!
Thanks so much! Appreciate the really nice comment.
amazing! the core mechanics worked really good, making a really fun gameplay. great desission on the tracks u picked, they adds alot to the overall aesthetics, the graphics are great too. liked a lot the points multiplier because it gave something more that i could focus on the easier levels. this is really a very good submission great job!!!!
Thanks so much for the kind comment! Glad you had fun playing.
Really cool game with a fun mechanic and interesting ways to use it. The Aesthetics are really good and everything complements with the gameplay. Really good design!
Wow thanks so much! Appreciate the comment.
Amazing game! Well polished! Love that idea is runs through the whole game ,style , graphics , audio(sweet sound of rewind btw!).
Thanks for playing. Very glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this game and the take on the theme.
Only complaints that I'd have is that the lack of power up or similar mechanics makes the shooting a bit stale. Also the game could use a pause button on the keyboard, even more since clicking on the menu takes a bit of time to pause, since the songs seemed kinda long.
I also had a funny bug, that by spamming the rewind and the movement, you can move without using tape, and change the starting point of said tape. Was a bit weird but didn't change that much, just wanted to let you know.
Other than that, great job.
Thank you for the feedback! I was thinking about adding powerups but with limited time I focused more on levels and enemies. I do agree there should be a pause button on the keyboard, I will add it to the post Jam to-do list. And spamming rewind, while maybe not a bug, should probably be removed, and I should be able to add a small cooldown to using it. Again thanks so much!
This is one of those relaxing games that should be on the mobile app store. :D I am impressed by the amount of polish.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
I really like the style of the game. The graphics, music, and gameplay really work well together. The rewind mechanic was interesting to play with also. Although I will admit that I spent a good portion of the time trying to make interesting pictures with the tape.
Thanks for the wonderful comment! Haha you are not alone lol, I spent a lot of development time drawing pictures too.
