In what way does your game fit the theme?
BE SURE TO READ DESCRIPTION BEFORE PLAYING!

This is RetroScape. If you're a fan of portal, you'll love this game.

As you traverse through your space ship, you must unlock each door to get to the next room. How do you unlock these doors? Well, in order to solve each puzzle, you realize you must go back in time to look for clues, get past debris, air holes, and many more obstacles. You must use your rewind ability, watch your oxygen levels, and health simultaneously as you try to solve our puzzles.
CONTROLS:

WASD - Movement

E - Interactables

Q - Rewind

TIPS:

A lot of things in the game are interactable, which includes the following:

Buttons | Switches | Turret Switches | Cubes | Symbols | Oxygen & Health Packs

When you use your rewind ability, after moving in the past you teleport back to your original position in the present. This is key to solving some levels.

Turrets are activated in the present but deactivated in the past. Unless you turn them on in the past ;)

While in the past, your ships hull isn't breached, which means you don't lose oxygen while you're in the past. This is key to managing your oxygen.

Hull Breaches decrease your oxygen loss rate substantially. DON'T GO NEAR THEM in the (present state).

In order to get access to some cubes you must use a cube (maybe even multiple)

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
All code was written by us! All assets were made by us except music and royalty free SFX. Music artist gave us permission to use his music. Artist was given credit in our game description.

So first of all, I really liked your menu! It looks great and you've included your controls and audio options, AUDIO OPTIONS! I love audio options. I don't like a game blasting my ears away.

But speaking of the music, it's awesome and very atmospheric! Really good!

The graphics look a bit inconsistent, especially the walls, which have no texture, and the void, which looks very static. But the particles look great. Overall the graphics are very solid.

With the gameplay, I had a few issues. First, I would really have loved a feature to instantly retry the level. The puzzles are timing-based, and it is really annoying having to wait a few seconds every time you screw up a puzzle.

And then I don't really like the idea of resource management in a puzzle game. It puts you under pressure and makes things more difficult to do. Maybe the resource management itself isn't the issue, but how difficult it is. Maybe I didn't fully get how to minimize my oxygen consumption, but I kept dying on the third level and didn't know what else I could have done better. Just walking to the health pick-up takes too much time.

I like the puzzles with rewinding and pushing crates around. It was fun trying to figure out the solution, but not really to execute it. It felt like it was more timing or skill-based than actually a puzzle. The crates also behaved a bit weird, which makes manoeuvring them under time pressure even more frustrating. I also at first didn't get that you can interact with them by pressing E since it was much more intuitive to just push them around, which worked, so I thought it was the only way to move them. Maybe making crates not pushable could help? A tutorial that explained that could have helped as well. It was in the description, though, which is probably the only reason I didn't get stuck.

Overall, I think the game has an amazing atmosphere and good puzzles that are too reliant on execution for my taste.

Well made.  Fits the theme nicely.

Oxygen + health system is used brilliantly. Rewind theme is perfectly used. Also loved the graphics.

Puzzles looks very complex at a first glance, but it's easy to get used to them by that addictive gameplay.

I had a lot of fun playing your game. The graphics are nice and your idea is really cool. The puzzles weren´t too hard and not too easy but sometimes I didn´t know what a lever changed. Overall a great game.

Good job!

I´ve submitted a local multiplayer game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722755. I would be happy to get your feedback on it. :-D

Love the game its really fun once I got the hang of it! If the game had a bit more visual queues I would totally get stuck into this as a full game!

Nice game ! Graphics and the music are great ! the concept is fun and the puzzles are well-designed. However, collisions are a bit strange and I think you could give more oxygen to the player because we have to die several times to just discover the puzzle. It's a bit too hard.

Nice job !

Great game, love the art and the way you implemented your puzzles!

Great game. The art is fantastic. Pretty tough sometimes and has some collision issues. But apart from that this is a wonderful game!

+ The puzzles are well planned

+ Love the art and music

- It has been hard to move around (some estrange collisions...)

Really cool game! I love music and art so much!

It's a great puzzle game but the way I collide with other objects kinda made it hard for me to play it. I kept on colliding on things I shouldn't be colliding with. I like the music tho and the rewind mechanic.

One of the best games I have played so far :) Awesome art style and atmosphere and the puzzles with the rewind mechanic a really fun and enjoyable.

My main problem was the oxygen (I know about the oxygen bottles to refill) because it just drains to fast in my opinion and collisions with some objects.

I had fun with it was good although I had a few things that did set me back a bit in  getting into the flow of it.

First off the collision for some objects were a bit unclear because I kept stopping on things that I didn't expect to in which items the character carries gets also stopped by.  The second one is from interacting with the items which incidentally is also related to the first one,  early on when I picked up an item and I'd get stuck I wasn't sure if I was still carrying said item. Another instance is when the player jumps back to the present after the rewind where the item stops getting carried, it didn't really feel like, to me at least, I was carrying an item around. Maybe having a clearer visual feedback that I am carrying or not carrying something might've helped. Lastly is the visual clarification and feedback of the UI where if your oxygen tank is drained it starts draining your HP. In the 1st or 2nd stage I was still trying to figure out how I'm not dead yet when my O2 tank is already depleted, it was only when I finally noticed my HP bar draining did I get it. Maybe have a glow effect on the HP when it starts to deplete so it would be more noticeable.

I honestly did have fun with the game though and the puzzle were challenging (and a bit frustrating lol). The rewind mechanic you had reminded me of that one stage in Titanfall 2  where you switch between past and present was pretty cool. Your art was top notch as well!

Great work on the game!
