Nice game :D
I really like the way you have implemented the rewind feature!
It really feels quite natural.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
You are a growing star formation and can rewind your growing process to live longer and survive in space.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
All codes and assets where written and created by ourselves.
A really cool game. It´s cool that you control a star formation which gets faster when it´s smaller. The art looks great and the soundtrack is very good. Good Job!
I´ve submitted a local multiplayer game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722755. I would be happy to get your feedback on it. :-D (it´s WebGl)
The aesthetics in this game were SUPER! Great job!
Could you please play and rate my game as well?
I believe that would be horrendous and could be brought to the Jam authorities and have that person banned. I can assure that I do not have a virus. I didn't have time for a web build and can't upload one until the jam is over.
I do have a video of the gameplay on the game page if you want to check that out.
Up to you.
awesome game, the trail of the star was pleasing :) and the art was nice, good job!
Simple, but wonderfully executed idea. The size/speed tradeoff is brilliant! One of the most unique takes on rewind I've seen. The only problem I had was that the trail behind the player, while cool, sometimes made it hard to gauge my size and position. The white on white sort of blended together.
Lovely game! It is such a simple mechanic but so effective, being small or big have their own pros and cons, really liked it!
Also the idea of being a growing star and not just a circle (for example) is great. I have nothing bad to say, had a great time playing it, well done! Would appreciate if you could rate mine as well :)
Nice entry! I like how the speed of the character changes based on the size. If you're bigger, you move faster but it's easier to die, but when you're smaller, it's easy to dodge things but you're much slower. Maybe add a few more mechanics like a rock/asteroid exploding into smaller pieces.
Overall great job!
Thanks for the feedback. Happy to hear that you like it. Yeah I actually wanted to make the soundtrack longer but the first version of the song got lost completely because of a software error... the wasn't enough time or nerves left to do a much longer one. But there definetly will be in the next jam! ;D
I like the idea of the game, I feel that it moves too slowly sometimes..
Also in some condition is quite possible to pass.. here an example
I really liked the game! I had fun while playing it.
The different take on the theme is what I liked the most. You did a great job mixing the theme with your game. Everything felt smooth.
Two things that would have made me enjoy the game more:
- The game could have taught you its controls (instead of having to go to the manual, I missed reading it the first time around and died a bunch of times)
- The UI stretched to fit the viewport.
Overall a really enjoyable game with great soundtrack. Great job!
Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback. And you're totally right about the two points you mentioned. I actually planned to make some control hints visible in the background but was missing time in the end because of the WebBuild Bug so many other suffered from too. And that's also why there was no time left for the viewport fixing. I'm planning before the next jam to look into flexible viewport design to eliminate something like this from the beginning.
Really enjoyed! The grow/shrink mechanic is really fun to play around with and a great take on the theme! The music is also really awesome. The only thing I would say is that an in-game controls screen or tutorial would be nice, but overall I thought it was really good!
My higher score was around 2000 and then a full wall of debris appeared ahahha. But the game was fun to play and I spent some more minutes trying to beat my record.
Pls, if you have some spare time, check my puzzle game. The main mechanic is time rewind of your bomb, but enemies react to your bomb is different ways. There are 12 levels and you can do they in any order you like. I'd appreciate any rating https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/721302
Thanks for your feedback, sadly it isn't the level generator but somehow the viewport got fucked up during the conversion to the web build. So there would be enough space for the player above or below the asteroids. Normally there even would be an invisible border so that the player couldn't leave the viewport, but it's outside the viewport now...
The visuals of the star were really cool, I found myself rewinding time while not moving to make some cool trail effects :) This game was fun, and making you move slower when you were younger was a neat mechanic. Although part of me wonders if I could just sit off the edge of the screen and never die because that's how I got by some asteroids lol. Overall, nothing really I didn't like, good job!
If you have time, please consider rating my game!
i quite enjoyed playing this, requires a bit of thought to maneuver the environment and keep the star formation alive. also the after-glow light effect from the formation is aesthetically pleasing. Good job!
