Interesting idea. It got challenging pretty quickly!

I think the controls could use a bit of work, they weren't very intuitive. I kept forgetting what inputs do what. Some of the inputs that are bound to the keyboard might work with the mouse, since you use it in the game anyway.

Overall nice work.

Thanks for your feedback!

The mouse buttons are actually already bound to controls though. Also every action has two or three different buttons to control them.

I love clever puzzle games like these, usually, but I didn't find myself falling in love with this one. Don't get me wrong, the idea is great, the art and music are cute, and the game as a whole was very well-polished. But I found myself to be frustrated more than I was solving puzzles.

For starters, the control scheme was really clunky to use (imo, I see others didn't have an issue with it). Maybe I was just using them wrong, but I much more would've preferred E to be pick-up and Shift to be rewind (and rope just to be on the left click). I ended up losing whatever block I was tugging more than I care to admit because I pressed the wrong button and picked up the coil instead (breaking the rope).

Additionally, I didn't like how ropes just kinda snapped even though they didn't seem to be under any stress yet (still dangling), or how they disconnected automatically when reaching the coil. That also made me lose the block I was tugging more than I care to admit.

The player blocking the connection for ropes was also less than enjoyable, especially because it's pretty hard to move only slightly (especially on slopes). I'd regularly just move out of the coil's range entirely on accident, which was less than ideal.

All that combined, just kinda made me quit out of annoyance in the middle of stage 6 (sorry). But I suppose that's a fault of my own, not of the game's.
Don't let my comments discredit the work you did, though. I liked what you put together and I liked playing the first 5 levels (...for the most part). Excellent work!

Thank you for your feedback, we'll make sure to include keybind options after the jam period ends and try to visualize the stress of the rope better.

One of the most polished games I've seen so far. Loved it! I got trapped under a rope and couldn't move at one point lol, but that was before I knew what was going on. I would suggest don't let the player count as "in the way" when placing the rope, and then just set the collision active again once the player has left the rope space.

Developer

That would be a good solution post jam, thanks!

Very unique and adorable art and animations! Physics driven puzzles were created in a way that eases yourself into the game! Well done!

Wow, what a unique mechanic!! Really well executed, on top with the graphics this is a really really nice game! I just had a little bit of a problem at first because I didnt know how the mechanics worked, even though they were explained haha, but thats ok! Nice job :)

All around 5 star rating! except for the audio, at least in the webGL version. Nice Job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your rating!

Yes, we are aware of the audio stuttering, but as we stated on our itch.io page, our game was build for Windows. The Windows version does not encounter audio stuttering.

Fun and challenging game, the animations of the slime are adorable. I like the attention to detail that carrying a coil reduces the jump height, and you also incorporated it into the puzzles. I finished all of them, but some were quite hard, or had to be repeated a couple times. I could already foresee the twist at the end, but it was still funny.

The mechanic and puzzles are well thought out, and some people already gave you notes for improvement. Only thing I would add is that at first I didn't realize that when I wanted to attach rope to another object that the slime counts as an obstacle as well.

Good job, guys.

Developer

Thanks! We really appreciate it, when people take their time to play our game! We will definitely contionue to work on it after the jam period, since it was a ton of fun to create and we still have many things to improve and add.

Great game, didn't expect the simple mechanics to turn out to be that much fun in the beginning! :D

The art is amazing, and I love how squishy the SFXs are! Really fun game, but I got too frustrated to finish with the difficulty spike, soft-locking myself, and having the ropes break starting in level 4.

Developer

Yeah, the dificulty spike in level 4 is something we definitely have to adress. You can freely select any level from the main menu though, if you get stuck.
