In what way does your game fit the theme?
if you get hit by the Time Wizard your character will rewind. Also some blocks rewind back when it falls off or gets destroyed.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I did not made the sfx and the font used in this game. anything other than that was made by me during the jam.

Very interesting take on the rewind mechanic, in fact the wizard saved me a few times from falling :D
The jump feels a bit buggy sometimes but it may be the webgl version only, not sure.
It felt super hard initially but once I got the timing right it went better, good work!

Really cool way of implementing rewind! probs to you!, however I would suggest making and indicator to when the wizard is going to strike. Also sometimes when i get rewinded i glitch through floor.  Hope you try mine too https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722968

I think you should work more on player movement! Currently, it feels very slugish and hard to control.

What you could do is:


-Make gravity stronger,

-Implement coyot time (It allows jumping after falling for a really short time),

-Slow down a player

Very cool idea, it's the first time i see this concept. The game is simple but enjoyable. The only thing is that the jump is a bit too imprecise for my taste, it's floaty and it doesn't always trigger when on the edge of a platform. Also, a suggestion: don't restart the music upon death, let it loop. This way the interruption it's too rough

A very fun game! Took me a moment to find the timings on jumps try to rewind at a proper position. Only criticism is that sometimes the character wouldn't jump so I ended up spamming space bar :D

i should really have added a jump allowance when the  player left the ground, i thought it would make the game easier so i didnt add it. i guess it was a big mistake that i need to learn from.

The mechanic is great, this is an excellent rage game, really frustrating but deterministic, it has all the characteristics of a good rage game.

- As someone else said, would help a lot with some indicator on when the wizard will attack

- Just do away with the levels and put everything in one giant level like Getting Over It, now that would be interesting

- Need tighter controls and collisions

Frustrating at first, but then got used to it, had to play second level like 50 times, because I always got hit by Wizard and got rewound to a broken platform.

In case you were making a 'rage-playformer' (which is tottaly fine) then folliwing issues are not important.

Issues:

  • Colliders and controls. The game feels a bit unresponsive. Like, I see that the character can perfectly land on a platform, but due to the collider sizes I fall. Or, I was a millisecond late to press the jump button, and the game didn't register that, and I fell. It lacks some 'coyote time' and other platformer tricks. 
  • Also found a little bug, when you can jump on falling platforms pressing Space before the character collides with them, and the platforms wouldn't fall (or breakable wouldn't break). I guess the game checks the ground beneath a character before it checks if a platform should fall.
  • Maybe, adding some warning that the wizard is going to attack would be a good idea. For example, adding some animation to the wizard or even just simple flashing of his sprite so that his attacks are telegraphed.

Thank you for the good feedback i was gonna add a cayote time in my player jump but wasnt able to reach the deadline. also the warning of the wizard attacking was a big mistake on my part, i was able to implement it in the boss but forgot to put in the wizard. thank you so much for the constructive feedback, ill do better next time.

The game has a great use of the rewind mechanic, but there is stuff to improve to make the game more appealing! For example, it would've been cool if the background was more than a static purple brick wall, and maybe some more post processing too. But other than that, the gameplay was smooth and I didn't even read the tutorial to understand how to play the game! Splendid!

yeah i really wished to design the background more. i kinda learned how to use make the post processing and lightings mid way into the jam so kinda had a hard time polishing things up and designing the other parts of the game.

It has good graphics and mechanics. I would try to get the player up to speed with a bit less sudden effects tough. You sure have potential.
