I liked you take on the theme. Looking for the recorder to rewind him. Cute art. The game was difficult at some part, but that is probably just me.
Good job.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game is about a cassette tape looking for a tape player to rewind in
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made all the assets from scratch and wrote most of the code

The concept is great, but the execution could have been better. Nevertheless it is great to see fresh ideas. Keep up the good work!
I like the music. I think the game is waaay to punishing. There is no way to see what is a ladder and what isnt. Those enemies might wreck your life in half a second if a weird glitch happens. The blue enemy hair collider is very weird. I like the music and the art. On what I think being level 4 the camera just stop moving. Good game overall.
A fairly comical game, the pixel art and character animations are nice. I'm not a huge fan of invisible ladders, the player should be able to navigate their way around easier. Checkpoints would also be very helpful. Good work!
Overall You had a decent theme. The little cassette is cute and the rolls of tape are a nice touch.
Fun and Innovation: It was a platformer but I would have liked an unique element.
Theme: This barely hits the mark for rewind in the sense that rewinding is the same as replaying. Its a story element rewind and not really a game mechanic rewind. I would have like to see some innovation regarding the theme.
Graphics: Overall pretty cute cassette and I liked the millennials touch. I'm not sure if there was a reason for the different head wear though as they all seemed the same functionally. I thought maybe the spiky heads couldn't be stepped on? Also not sure why the ladders are the same as the background or why the platforms appear as they do. Since you are looking for a cassette player maybe the platformer could have been in a junk yard or an antiques shop?
Audio: From what I can tell it seemed like original content and i liked the sound effects but I would have like some more audio cues to signal game state changes to the player. Such as a damage noise. Also once I clipped on a millennial and was immediately drained of health and then didn't even respawn. Try adding an invulnerability moment like they do in Mario games so I don't instantly die.
Again, a pretty good attempt, I look forward to seeing more!
Thanks for playing
In regards to the theme, I wasn't sure if what I was making was right, and I was going to change it, but I was running out of time, so I had to stick with what I had. In future, I will definitely integrate the theme into the game, rather than just the story :)
The issue with collision and the millennials, I encountered the same bug a couple of times in playtesting, but I couldn't figure out what was causing it, so I added the "Restart Game" button. If you could let me know where it happened, that would be great. Usually when in collision with the millennials, you can only take damage once, so I don't understand how it happens.
Nice first game! I like how you made the audio, that's really cool. The invisible ladders were weird, and having to go back all the way to the beginning was frustrating. I also laughed at the millennial part lol. Fun game!
I like that you made everything from scratch for the jam. The game is rudimentary, the graphics looks decent, and it's good you have background music. Great job for your first game! What matters is that you made and published a complete, finished game.
The ladders are weird to use. Jumping on enemies could feel much better than how it is now. I recommend having the enemy die the instance the player jumps on it, and playing a sound and particle effect.
I was aiming for deceptively challenging, so ladders weren't originally intended to fundamental, but I was running short on time, so I threw them into the levels
I had a lot of trouble figuring out enemy collision, so there was some trouble with timing, but a particle effect would have been good.
I appreciate the feedback, and thanks for playing :)
Cool game. The art was really cool and the controls were smooth. My only problem was the invisible ladder and the audio. The ladder was really weird and buggy at times. As for the audio, it kept glitching and made this earrape noise. Other than that I thought it was a really fun game and cool concept.
Thanks
I have had a lot of comments about the ladder, so I will keep everything in mind.
As for the audio, I have no idea why there were any issues. There have been no complaints about it before, and I didn't run into any problems when playtesting. If you could tell me when the problem occurred, that would be greatly appreciated.
Nice job! The platforming is a bit weird as well as stepping on the millennials, but it seems promising! Also, you should probably make it more obvious as to where the ladders are.
Good job. I thought the game was fun, although the platforming could be rough at times. And I don't really understand the invisible ladders. Jumping on the head of millennials was buggy a couple times. Besides that good job!
Great job on your jam submission! I really liked the theming of this game and the designs of the millennials. The platforming was a little to punishing at times, and having ladders be invisible made the platforming harder than needed at times. The music was great too. Hope you enjoyed the jam!
Hello,
First of all congrats on successfully finishing the Jam, its quite a challenge in itself, I know how difficult it is to create something giving the time and theme constraints but thats part of the fun.
I really like the funny tape character and the feed animations are super funny and cute.
I think the difficutly ramping could be less steep since one of the first jumps is very difficult to perform. I also think a checkpoint would help out keeping players for longer runs since dying in level 3 takes you back to the begining.
I also like how the millenials break you LOL.
Great work !!!
Keep up joining jams and expanding your game design skills.
Rem.
PS. Thanks for commenting on my game, I would appreciate if you could give a rating too.
Thanks for the feedback.
Looking back on it, a checkpoint system would have been a good idea.
I was the only one to playtest the game, so I wouldn't know that the jumps were very hard, though, in testing, the ones in level three, even I found difficult
I really enjoyed this game jam, so I will definitely join more in the future
Thanks again, and I'm glad you enjoyed my game
I liked the graphics of your game a lot. The controls were a bit too unresponsive, but for your very first game this is super cool!! Please keep making games :3
It's hilarious. Maybe make the tutorial the first level with an option to skip it.
Daaaaammm it's hard without checkpoints. I just can't make the jump in the second level.
