In what way does your game fit the theme?
It let's the player get stronger and stronger when he gets new friends who help him escape.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I followed a few tutorials for the code, but I changed it to fit my needs. The music and art for the game are completely made from scratch.

Nice game with a cute and fun game idea! Good job. I’d love if you play and rate my game with almost the same name ;-) .

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I'll play your's  for sure ^^

Nice graphics, music, and atmosphere. Lighting effects were really cool. I'd like to see what you can do with this game with more time.

I like the music in this game and the shadow effects really create a nice atmosphere. As other comments pointed out does the music stop or is missing in some of the levels but you already addressed that. I didn't like how, after I collected Sunny, the shadows totally disappeared making the level feel boring and gray. There are also some parts where you can't see walls and you don't really get that feeling of movement. A floor texture would have helped, but I see how that doesn't really fit into the games style so you should try to give the player some other point of reference at all time. Some sound effects would have been nice, but I added mine only last minute as well so I can't really blame you for that. Other than that I really liked the animation and explanations in between levels.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your detailed feedback! You‘re totally right with the point of reference thing and yeah, I will add some sound effects to the updated version (sadly I don’t have much time at the moment)

For the boring look after you collected sunny, someone suggested increasing the light radius, but not fully increase it and I think  that’s how I‘m gonna do it.

Btw, I‘m surprised that most people like the music, I was really stressed when I made it and didn’t use much time for it xD

I really like the game! I think the first level I enjoyed the most, it was really beautifully done! it really made great ethmospere! Actually I would enjoy the most if all levels would be like the first one:)

Short comment. I think something is with music - maybe you for forgot to loop it? it just stoped before i reached the end of the level. There was also something strange in third and fourth levels - i was just in empty space and now sure was was happening. I didn't reach the end of fourth:((

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback ^^

Yeah, I forgot to loop it and the game isn’t finished because the more finished version broke shortly before submission time, so I had to submit an older version. I will update it after the rating phase though

Submitted

Okay it's not perfect, but it's really not too bad. I had fun trying the game, and the idea is interesting, but there is not happening much in the levels.

I was really feeling the vibe, then the music stopped and everything went silent. Second level did not load. There are two major faults that can cause this: -Level was not added to your build index, or your index number/string name did not match in your code to load the proper level. If you used a string name to identify the level and load it, probably a capital or spelling mistake.  Not to worry though, every one is here to learn!

edit: further below I read you have  a UI issue that is causing the problem. Check your canvas settings, make sure it scales with the screen size (set slider to 0.5 in order to scale based on width and height).

Developer

Thank you sooooo much! I finally fixed it now^^

Sadly I can only upload the updated version when the rating phase is over :(

Submitted

Ey, no worries it happens. Part of the jam. I will make sure to play it once you can upload the fixed version.

Developer

Yeah, you're right. My only problem now is that I can't get the healthbar (which is added after the first level, so you couldn't see it) to scale correctly for other resolutions. Do you have any idea what I could do?

Submitted

dude i literally had the same issue with my game (the unable to switch level) that's so sad ! :( but the game looks and feels really cool, good job =)

Developer(+1)

Thanks, at least you liked the first part...

I hope you will come back and play the updated version to play the whole game^^

Submitted

Unfortunately, As soon as I encountered the first entity I was unable to progress, the aspect was broken for me so I couldn't progress the conversation that was initiated.

Developer

I‘m sorry, I made a mistake while making the UI, so it doesn‘t work if someone has another screen resolution than me...

But I‘m working on it so you should be able to play it after I updated it^^

Submitted

I know the feeling, I made the same mistake in my submission.

Submitted

Looks promising, but definitely feels incomplete. There's a level that's just nothing but grey.

Developer

I know, like I mentioned in the description of the game, it is not the newest version of the game because the newest version broke shortly before submission time was over. I will upload the finished version as soon as possible though^^

Submitted

Love the music and how you progressively got more abilities as you teamed up with more people. Good job!

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted

Nice idea and pleasent audio!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks!

I‘m gonna play your game tomorrow^^

Submitted

Keep on working on this! I would love to see a fully realized version of this game. The style is really pleasing! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I‘m working on it^^

Sadly I don‘t have as much time as last week to work on it anymore, but I‘m slowly but surely making progress

Submitted

Very cute, very fun, looking forward to playing the rest when you finish it!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you like it^^

Hello Buddy we love your game and we want to stream it.. please see this post https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/topic/1224777/stream-of-gaames-on-comments

Damn it's a shame the game broke, but I look forward to when you'll upload the updated version of it, it's a cute game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I honestly wasn‘t sure If I should submit this older version of the game, but I‘m so glad you enjoyed it.

I‘m really looking forward to playing your game later today^^

Submitted

Very cute game. There is a lot of potential in it.

Developer

Thank you^^

Hey there,

Really love the simplicity of the game, and that calm music really helps.
I just didn't have a change to continue after you found the girl, I have a small screen and thinking a next button was below the dialogue. Anyways congrats on your game.

Cheers!!!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the part you were able to play. I know about this problem, but sadly I couldn't fix it in time...

The gameplay  evolves when teaming up.

The maze was already very well-done with those lighting. Didn't expected that it becomes a space-shooter at the end. It is so sad you didn't finish it on time.

Developer

I'm glad you like it! I was really sad that I couldn't finish it, too :(

Submitted

Good job! I love the Harry Potter reference. Really unfortunate that you didn't manage to finish it because I enjoyed playing it. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for these kind words^^

Submitted

You deserve it! :D Harry potter, and you got me!

Submitted

Music is awesome, and the concept is really cool! Other than the shorter game, my only drawback is that the final upgrade is kind of a downgrade because it takes away from the aesthetic.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! Do you have any idea what upgrade to do instead of the last one?

Submitted

The idea itself isn't bad, but I would just try increasing the brightness till it almost reveals the whole screen instead of eliminating light all together. That way it should still have the pleasing look

Developer(+1)

Thank you, that‘s a pretty good idea! I actually did this in a later version of the game which sadly broke, so i couldn‘t submit it, but it will definetly be in the updated version^^
