The game is very polished, great job! An improvement I would do is reduce the cooldown between shot, it felt quite long when I only had one character left.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
There are a group of soldiers that are stronger when they fight together.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, I made all the visuals, music, sound effects and code within the timeline of the jam.

Wow an arcade like game, i Like it :D
But Controlling more than 3 characters gets really confusing to me >.<
but very nice, its just the third game i rated that was made with the unreal engine. ;D they are not that common in this game jam.
A game made with Unreal engine? I only heard legends about those XD
Joking aside, the game was fun to play and utilizes the theme in a fitting manner. Although, my only criticism is that the shooting control scheme can be a bit confusing. I found myself not going beyond 3 soldiers at a time as I found that the soliders were a lot harder to control beyond that point
Overall, this is a good game and I had fun playing it
WWAAAAAAAATTTTTTHHHHH was it made with Unreal Engine. With my lazy reading skills I only read U.. Engine, and I was sure I used the perfect and almighty Unity Engine. It's so unreal that I kinda manage to a game with that terrible shit.
And yes the games control takes some time to learn. I can in some parts of control 4 soldiers, but the max 5 of soldiers is also too difficult for me, but I will not be shocked if some body can control 5 soldiers.
The game fits the theme and the music fits the game too!!!
Also would be cool if you checked my game : https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/927654
It's about a virus living inside a human's body!!!!
Very innovative control scheme! I loved how certain things meshed well with the audio!
Solid game and a good way of making use of the theme! The first game of the jam that I've played that is created in Unreal Engine, and for you to make all the visuals, music etc. along with coding the game is very impressive. The game as fun and It makes you want to keep playing to get a higher score. Nice work! :)
Very good game, well work. A feedback, I don't know well where the bullet should go and since there is a reload time I found anoying shoot, miss and wait some second to shoot again.
Nice game! I loved when they arranged themselves so i don't get confused
Nice fun little arcade like game. The voice over was a great addition to the game and the gameplay was very fun.
The voice intro is just amazing! Awesome. I had some lags playing the game. But overall it was really fun. Well done!
I honestly had fun playing the game, my best score was 7195
It has nice arcade feel. For me the best strategy was to keep 3 soldiers so you won't get one shot and replace them quickly. Only bosses were a problem because you don't earn a lot of money to keep replacing soldiers.
The slow reload speed makes sense as it incetivises having more soldiers. I would like to have some small reaload bar for the soldiers so you know when will they be able to shoot. The camera perspective, moving enemies, the soldiers lagging a bit after the main one, it all made it rather difficult to reliably aim, especially with the non-center soldiers. Would be nice to have some kind of laser sights of their trajectories.
That voice introduction at the beginningXD! I was suprised it's a UE4 game, i've played almost 70 games on this jam and it's like 2nd or 3rd one made in UE4. The idea is straightforward and fun, what i didn't like is the music, it's very repetitive, poorly mixed and harmony is really off, enough to make me mute the sound, sorry. I can tell that you have a decent sense of humor. You shoulda abused it to the max and included some inside dialogues with jokes, like soldiers yelling at each other, aliens doing somethin funny and etc. Here is my rating, oh, the rare one of UE4 clan.
Thank you for playing the game.
Yes, most of game here is naturally made in Unity, because Brackeys is known for his Unity tutorials. But I just love using UE4 for all my games.
I do totally understand if you don't like the music. It's inspired by music from games I played when I was a child, and yes the music in those games were really not very good and often had some really weird sounds and often was they extremely repetitive. I know it's weird, but I kinda learned to love that kind of music, even though it's kinda bad.
And yes I could have used more humour in the game, and I do often use humour in my games. But decided not to over use it in this game.
Oooh, fellow UE4 game!
Score: 705
Took me a bit to get used to the controls.
What I didn't like:
- Slow ass reload speed
- AI basically only has two "commands": Run into you, or avoid an obstacle
- The music was a bit repetitive
- Trying to control more than one soldier, while keeping in mind reload time is hard, wish there were visual indicator of reload for each solider above/below them
- Only one hit deaths
What I liked:
- The art style was cute
- Such a simple concept that was polished
Overall, while a lot of "cons", I listed, those can easily be remedied. I think you did a nice job, the concept fit the theme well, even if it's harder to be "stronger together", rather than Rambo.
Hello Victor Burgos
Thank you for playing my game. I understand your critic of my game, and I already knew your problem with the game would be the issue for most players. But let me try to explain the idea:
- This is not meant to be a Rambo action game, but it's an army game. And yes, you can play it like an Rambo game, but then it gets super slow and mostly a game about avoiding obstacles and enemies. The slow reload and the "one hit"-death is there to push you to use more then one soldier. For me the slow reload also makes the game more intends, because you not always know if it's best to attack or avoid the enemies. And the slow reload do also means if you fail to hit an enemy, it will have a much higher consequence, then if you just was able to rapid fire .
- I knew that the controls over a group of soldiers would be the games biggest issue. And yes, it takes time to learn to control them and the slow reload time do not make it easier. But when you first understand and really learn how to control them it actually gets really fun. But today where players is mostly use to pretty easy and fast past games, it's a bit difficult to make you play and understand the game.
- Yes, the AI are very simplistic. But with the slow reloading and the way you have to control the army I actually think it's working very well. But I understand if you don't like it. There is by the way also a Boss in the game that uses a different AI, but it's by it self not much more cleaver.
- I totally understand if you are not a fan of the music, I am not sure I am a fan of it my self. But there are at least some nostalgia for this kind of repetitive music, from games that looked and played a bit like this game back when I was a child.
But okay, I actually think the biggest issue with the game is that it takes longer to learn to play then most players use on playing it. In general it's an issue with a lot my games, but I like them the way they are.
And again thank you for playing the game.
Is it just me or is this really hard? haha I actually found it easier to use one soldier mostly. Nice concept!
