In what way does your game fit the theme?
Boxes are stronger together as they connect and can go over gaps and not break bridges. Also, in some levels, you need a group of boxes that are together to activate the buttons because they are stronger when together.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes

Really great game. i love the camera effect and the gameplay in general. Althougth i don't understand the "stronger together" theme how was applied very much. Anyways good game. Keep it up!

(Don't forget to check out mine :D)

Developer (1 edit)

The stronger together theme is that boxes are able to go over the void tiles (and the later seen bridge tiles) when at least one box in a chain is on the ground, hence they are stronger together. Another small form of it comes that they are able to weigh down bigger buttons when there are more of them together although that's a slight stretch as many of the buttons are single ones and it's also not coded that way.  Thanks for the feedback and I'll make sure to check your game out!

EDIT: I checked out your game and it was a nice experience. Cool mechanic with really nice art!

Very creative and well implement levels! Got to be real brain teasers, clearly a lot of thought went into these level designs.

I love these kind of puzzle games and the pushing blocks through walls mechanic was really cool!

Developer(+1)

The walls are meant to be like a void tile. However, I can understand your confusion as when you look at all the art together, it makes zero sense. A robot goes through a dungeon, pushing boxes off into nothingness while going into portals and pressing buttons.  I realized the zero coherence like the last day lol. I played and rated your game and I had a blast shooting the monsters in the face and dashing through them.

Can't get past the 4th level but I really like the gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, that level is a massive spike in difficulty. I've seen two ways to do it with one being much easier than what I intended. My hint is that you want boxes near you to push onto the button while standing near the portal. I really liked your game with its duality mechanic! (Probably not the right word but I'll go with it!)

Fun little game here. Liked the idea and puzzles were always fun. The graphics look really good and I loved how the goals and teleport stand out with their shine. Good job with this game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the compliments! All that shine is from post-processing! I was tempted to put in 2d lights, but I could never get it to look how I wanted. I also find it funny that we both made box games!

Submitted(+1)

Ah ok, didn't know that about the lights. Boxes are just really fun and easy to work with you know. As well you can have a bunch of types of boxes!

Like the concept, got a bit to hard for me a bit too fast :D

Cool take on the theme :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The game definitely spikes at level 4 as there are a lot more steps to do to win. I liked your game, especially with the rhythm fights and the dead body art!

Submitted

Very nice level design! If you were to improve anything,  maybe upgrading the artwork,  and picking a consistent color palette, would go a long way. Nonetheless, this is a very solid game, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Art is definitely where I struggle as well as music. I liked your game as it gave me some nice Gameboy vibes!

Submitted

A little and cool Sokoban, perfect for teasing the brain.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I made this kind of game because I had never made a puzzle game or a tile-based game so I thought they would work together pretty well. Your game also had some good puzzles and I liked how each character needed to work with each other!

I love how the screen is a little curved. makes me feel like I'm actually playing it on a tv. I also love the sound effects!

Developer

Tbh, the whole curved tv effect was an accident. I was just playing around with effects until I found something that made it look better lol. Thanks for the kind words about the visuals and sound effects. You also had some great visuals with your lighting!

Submitted

Its a pretty cool concept. Some maps are curved towards inside the screen, some aren't, and there is some weird post-processing with chromatic aberration which doesn't feel right.
Overall great work, keep it up!

Developer

Chromatic aberration was definitely a hit or miss depending on the level especially on levels 9 and 10 lol. I liked your games graphics a lot, especially the atmosphere which I forgot to put in the comment I left on your game.

The audio is so damn satisfying every time you move the robot, it really helped make the experience so much better, so great work with that! The game was very fun and puzzling :) cool art style too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! That sound was basically just made by increasing the pitch of a pop sound I did with my mouth lol. It was also done on the last day because before that the game felt like a PowerPoint slideshow as the squash and stretch animation wasn't there as well. I liked your game as well as it was a fun and satisfying challenge barely making it to the next white area in time!

Submitted

Love it, i  really like the simple but nice sound effect. GREAT!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The sound effects were mostly made from me going into my basement and finding stuff around the house. The noise when you move is me just making a "pop" noise with my lips.  I liked your game as well as the puzzles were very skill-based and the color and power mechanic was nice.

Submitted

Great game! Some puzzles really had me scratching my head for a long time :D Nice work! :)

Developer

Thanks! I enjoyed your puzzles as well because of the amazing physics!

Submitted

A very good puzzle game. Well thought out and designed. Got stuck at level 3. Will try to finish it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for making a video on it! If you want a hint, try to get the box on the button while you are near the portal. I've seen two ways with one being my way and the other being a much easier way.

Submitted

Really well thought out and well put together puzzle game, i really liked level 2 where you had to make the box respawn and push it from behind the box's respawn to push it to the end, very smart idea. Great job

Developer

Yeah that entire mechanic was kind of based off of how boxes in portal respawn where they started. Thanks for the kind words

Sorry for the late reply i wasnt on itch.io at the time but unfortunately the browser is frozen and idk what to do also what file download is it for because if it is for windows then i cant play it

Developer

there is a file for both windows and mac. The windows one has been tested but the Mac one hasn't. If you have linux, then you most likely can't play it unless your browser starts cooperating. It needs to be played on a computer on the web, not a phone.

Nice Game :D You got me there in the second Level, is this level bugged (chest has to be moved against the wall) - Nope thats the idea :P

Developer(+1)

Dang I almost missed replying to your comment! Yeah, that entire mechanic was loosely based on the portal series boxes where they will basically spawn where they started.  This was also a thing that kind of surprised me when watching streamers play it is that they took a while to figure out how to get it out when you can only push it forward! I just played your game and am about to rate it. I like how you have to be active during the defense portion, unlike most tower defense games!

Submitted

Thanks for playing my Game!

Submitted

Best game I've played so far!  Looking forward to how you develop this idea further.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! It was a blast seeing you play it on stream and having those ah-ha moments. Your game was also a ton of fun with the minigames in between to change up the pacing!

Submitted

I love the mechanics and the puzzles you made of it, especially being able to push boxes through void tiles with other boxes. The art style is also nice and the old monitor effect makes it even better. Overall, a really strong and well-made game. :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I was really proud of this entry and I'm happy that other people like it as well. I also rated your game and I thought it was amazing with the song and Boris's personality!

Im not so good in Puzzle games (Even if i made one for this jam) but i realy liked the style and the puzzles are very well made, hard but solvable. The camera effect realy got my attention and the sounds were on point. I will try to solve it whole when i have more time (Got stuck at 6), but overall a realy well made and smart puzzle game.

If you could take a look at my game too, it would make me very happy<3: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/928164#post-2666072

Developer

Yeah, level 6 is where a good amount of people get stuck mostly because of me not signaling well to the player that the box with an arrow pointing towards it is over a void tile. I'm glad you enjoyed the game and found the puzzles well made. I made sure to check out your game and I found it really fun especially the funny descriptions of each character.
