Hi, I made mine in a very stressful way. I don't always get time and I only get 6 to 4 hours max to work on it. And when I chose the game idea I got, I didn't know the rabbit hole I was going into. I didn't know how to do many things in the game engine I was using, which was GDevelop 5, the GDevelop community helped me alot, I am 101% sure I couldn't have done it without them. Then, struck a problem on thursday, my computer is slow and it crashed GDevelop, corrupting the work I did that day, then I had to do  some extra work to finish it that day. There were many bugs that I couldn't fix and even found some before 2 hours before submission. I had no time, to fix those bugs, make any music, add many things I wanted. So, I quickly made a sound effect for button press and then submitted it. I am planning on making a in-depth post on my work soon. Anyways, here is the game,  https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/929223

Everything started great for me, but I couldn't quite get the arm of my character to work exactly as I wanted, and suddenly I had spent 2 nights just tweaking that small part of the game 😅 and I live alone with my 3 year old son so I could only work on it at night when he was asleep 😁

Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out but I wish I hade the time to make more levels, Will probably expand on the game after the game jam 🙂

Newtraction is a puzzler where you manipulate gravity. I made it in 4 days using Unity 2020.1, HDRP, VFX graph and a bit of physics knowledge (+ Brackeys tutorial also helped) for gravity simulation. I also made a higher poly-count sphere than the default one. Music is made in Cakewalk and the UI was made using Paint.NET.  Animations made by tweening. Feel free to rate if you have the time ;)

I made mine using unity and I made it in 5 days. I baked lighting for all levels and added some simple post processing to make graphics look good and so far 3 streamers have played my game and I created a trailer

would really appreciate it if you leave a rating

I forgot to mention the answer to your question of how I made it. I took the entire week off from work, and had a teammate do the art, outsourced the voice acting to my friends, and devoted every day to working on the code and game design! I used Unity. :)

My buddy and I made a tower defense game in MonoGame. It's not a game engine but a game framework for C#. We wrote everything like particle managers, collision and that stuff by ourselves!

We might try Unity the next time, 3D sounds really interesting!

Thanks for this, here's our project: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/927434.

We're a team of two and made the entire game from scratch and got done about 4 hours before the deadline. We really gave our best to keep the scope small and focus on the most important aspects of our game, which worked (mostly) well. Not working on the fluff around the game before the base is finished might be the most important lesson we learned with this.

Thanks again. I'll give your game a go and post on your submissions page afterwards.

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/928000 I made Symbiote in Unity 2D, created almost all of the art assets myself with paintdotnet, and created the audio SFX and music in Ableton.

I'd really appreciate if you could check it out :)

To start this jam, I had just downloaded photoshop because I thought it was time I do something other than pixel art. As it turns out, you cannot learn photoshop in 3 days, so I essentially started on Wednesday, with more pixel art. At this point I had an idea in my mind, but had absolutely no idea how I would do it, so obviously motivation was a bit low. In any case, I forced myself to just start making things for the game, (music, art, etc.) and it helped me to realize how everything would fit together, making coding a whole lot easier.

I used lists for the first time in my code, and didn't watch any tutorials for the game (besides looking up how to use lists). All was going to plan.

I finished my game and tested a built version, however one of the main mechanics broke, and I had no idea why. In desperation, I presented the problem to the discord server, where a few people (BIG SHOUTOUT)  and myself discussed what could possibly be causing it. I stayed up until 6am talking to someone 12 hours ahead of me, until I finally went to bed.

Needless to say, the problem was actually simple, and I figured it out the next day and uploaded the project. I'm really pleased with the result, as it is my most complete and polished looking project yet :D

anyways here it is:

Thank you for playing!

I made a puzzle platformer where you have to switch characters to win!

There are some glitches, but I was really stuck on time. But since I have heard from several people that the concept sounds really good, I will be making a full version on my own time after the jam.

This is my first game, which I made myself, before that I participated in jams only as an artist.

I made my game in 5 days which are the weekdays as on the weekends I went out usually. I made the basic gameplay in day 1(player movement, laser shooting stuff, and basic test level).on day 2, fixed bugs and added enemies, made the friendo AI for it to follow player as i tried making it scripted with timeline, ended up making it very hard to play.  day 3 was the hardest i think because there is a lot of issues with enemies and the friendo ai so I took 2 days on fixing it(day 3 and 4). On day 5, i quickly made a few levels just so i have a basic game and not sure if i will expand it or not. anyways, if you're interested in trying it out, heres the link. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/925950 . Thanks!

it was fun!

I had exams and stuff at the time too so i had to manage time pretty scarcely tho i made it but couldn't work on it a lot so its rather unpolished and few bugs. I had a lot of difficulty with stage making and fixing the collider bugs and stuff don't even know how to fix em ssiighh

But anyways i am happy with how it turned out!

Here it is!

But you didn't write ur experience? I would love to hear it!

Flyire-Demo

Flyire is a first-person shooter, action, sky combat game.

Gameplay:

It has an Endless game level, where the player has a normal jet with a mounted MG2B (Machine Gun) on the jet. The player has to travel as far as possible to make a high score.

There are a lot of enemies on the run.  you have to keep moving and shoot them down to avoid them shooting at you.

The game would seem easy at the start, but the more score you make the more highscore will be harder to achieve.

Enjoy the Game.
