In what way does your game fit the theme?
In SplitShip you control a small little character, who can shoot, and move around freely. An enemy will spawn which the player must shoot. However killing an enemy will create more. You will soon feel the chaos as you dodge bullets, pick up health drops and fight waves of enemies, whilst the music pulses and bright explosions fill your screen. Challenge yourself to get a high score and share your results with others!

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I did most of it myself but I had a little help from good old Brackeys tutorials and some royalty free sounds.

Great production values; the art style and "level up" audio felt great. I would've enjoyed more if I could've held the mouse button down to rapid-fire instead of clicking each individual bullet, but it was still pretty fun. Good work!

In one word, Satisfying  (^^)b

Very nice song and graphics.

I liked the robot voice saying your status "Level up".

GJ making this game.

Very fun game. Good job! Eespecially since it's your first game.

I would suggest adding a short minimal delay between player attacks and allow shooting by holding mouse.

Really fun and unique game! Good job!

Great graphic and super enjoyable game play! However, your yellow boi need more power up. I think the power up and more various type of enemies will definitely spice up the game! Still a good game anyways! Keep it up!

Also I would love to hear your feedback and rating on my game, so if you interested please try it out!

It is a pretty good game. I would add some feedback when the player's bullet hit the target. Now it's just disappearing and so do enemies.  This kind of feedback is extremely important and just enjoyable.

Shooting mechanics should be balanced. Spaming mouse button is not an good option :D Anyway the game is nice and I had a good time playing it!

good game rough around some edges but I can see potential for a great game. aslo could u plz rate my game good or bad I just need to know how to improve my gamedev skills

Developer

To be honest I'm not the best person to ask about improving. But what I did was just try and make something simple, not just copying code, but trying yourself. If your stuck, try looking up documentations or on forums. I'll go and check out your game now 🙂

Good game you got there. You put your focus on the graphics. I would very support it, when you could introduce rapidfire and slower Enemy-Spawning.👍

Developer

Rapid fire was something I wanted to add, along with bombs, but time was scarce. I should have made this more obvious, but the big enemies can also destroy the smaller ones. This can be used to break up the game - killing enemies without more spawning. 🙂

Excellent first proper game :) 2 years younger than you

Developer

Wow! That's so cool!!!!!!

How are you finding it??

Submitted

Finding what??

Developer

Finding your game dev journey so far??

Submitted

i  dont understand?

Developer(+1)

Are you working on any long term games?

Submitted (1 edit)

Not really but I like creating prototypes and small games

I started in scratch than tried unity and failed pretty badly (Took me 2 months to download unity)

then, I tried again and created my first game.

Submitted

Excellent first proper game. This was very cool. Great job.

This is so much fun! I think this would make a great full game with multiple levels. The graphics are great too, and the music fits with the style. I'd suggest spawning less health orbs, but other than that it's a cool concept.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I think the spawn rates are hard to get right because it needs to match all skill levels. Perhaps I could make a variable difficulty?? 🤔

Quite funny!

Thanks so much!

Wow, there are so many more young game developers than I thought!

How's it going for you??

Submitted

Until now everyone enjoyed it, but almost no one votes on it xD

I will be happy if you can vote for my game too.

Developer

Sure! Of course 👍😊

I liked the game, though after a while it got a bit bland as the health power ups spawned way a bit too often getting rid of a sense of difficulty, but I enjoyed the music quite a bit.

Developer

I do agree that the gameplay looses its freshness after a bit. I will try to fix this later with perhaps more difficult enemies, and some powerups.
