Fun game! It has a lot of potential.

Playing this with friends has to be awesome.

I think that it needs a tutorial because at first it feels a little bit hard to comprehend.

Submitted

As it is it's more of a gameplay demo, without online matchmaking/lobbies you can't do much.
The major flaw is that you need friends to enjoy it, as we know very well gamers don't have friends.

Developer

Haha I heard stories that some of them have a few xD I am going to add online multiplayer. Was thinking also about implementing some AI.

Submitted

Cool idea! It looked very polished! with nice art and funky music! the only problem I had was that when I tried to convert trees into planks sometimes just an X sign appears, and I didn't understand what I did wrong there, so I kinda got stuck.

but still, I had fun while I could.

good job!

Developer

Thanks for checking out my game :) . Well that's probably cause you didn't have two pieces of wood. It can get confusing but there is a button for recipes (make sure you are not holding anything) to view all recipes.

I am aware that a brief tutorial would make the experience more enjoyable :D

Great game, had really pleasant time playing. I could be very fun experience to play this with friends. Very solid polishing. Good job, keep it up! :)

Developer

Thank you, I am glad you like it!

This was working really well and smooth! Nice job! Video Review: 32:00 Craft Off

Developer

That was awesome to see you play through all these games, thanks!

Awesome game. I really have no complaints about the game it was perfect in all aspects. Good art and music, fits the theme, nice gameplay everything was really really good. Unfortunately I had to play it alone because I have no friends to play with sob sob! (Thank you for allowing a single player to start the game). Fantastic. I hope you crack top 100 games if not better.

I am so glad you liked it, reading through your comment made me even more motivated to continue developing craft-off. Sorry to hear you didn't have the chance to test it in multiplayer - I can let you know when the online multi is ready so I can play with you :D .

Submitted

That would be awesome.

Looks nice and seems a good concept

are there going to be updates?

Developer (1 edit)

Yes! I am taking this game to a full release. Therefore I'm open to any suggestions for improvements/features

it looks like a super fun game. The art, music and game mechanic are great and consistent. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you! I am glad to hear that. Love your game as well.

Awesome game, would be more fun to play with a controller. Unique game, though there should a tutorial. Other than that, fun game :D.

Developer

Yeach, it totally needs some sort of introduction - gonna add it in further updates ;)

This looks like it'd be super fun to play with a group of friends, in some sort of tournament mode! Unfortunately I could only play it by myself but I got a good grasp of the gameplay mechanics and how fun it would be. Great idea as well! I could see the chaos coming from the competitiveness of the players.

Developer

Really encourage you to try it in multiplayer should you ever have a chance and got nothing better to play :P thank you for your time checking out craft off :)

Haven't seen any other crafting games for this jam so, well done for being unique.  I've given you a rating.

Developer

Thanks for trying out my submission!

Very fun game, haven't seen crafting games at the game jam so it felt very unique :D

Thanks for trying out my submission!

So I guess I suppose to be against with a friend. May ask a friend to play with me if possible.

So I played it solo. Enjoy the game mood! The game feels satisfying. Really great work!

Developer

I am glad the mood hit! :) If you ever have some time with a friend or two I do recommend you to try it in a multiplayer :)

Interesting crafting game, bit hard to play with a keyboard, especially disliked how when you made an error and got the circle with the strike through it, you couldn't press any button to get rid of it. But overall I like the art and concept, would have liked a bit more feedback by way of sound.

Developer

Thank you for checking my submission! Well, the circe with strike indicates that there is no available recipe to be crafted - just press cancel button ("L" on keyboard) and go get more resources! :)

Heyo~

I thought the gameplay and theme were really sweet! Once I got the hang of the mechanics things got really fun.

My biggest issue was that there were a couple mechanics that were not really intuitive and warranted some sort of tutorial. I think if there was a couple more text fields or visual indicators it would have been really seamless. That said, I understand the limitations of a jam and really enjoyed all the mechanics.

I loved the visuals and was blown away with how much you accomplished in such a short amount of time. Incredible job :)

Developer

That's heartwarming to hear and I do agree that the controls are complicated. I am going to build this game to a full release and really need to figure out how to simplify it.

Submitted

Absolutely loved this game! I'm a huge sucker for everything in this game from the gameplay style to cubey artstyle. Like others, didn't really see the chaos of it at first but it hit haha

Developer

Thank you! I am planning out how to get this game to a full release, hope to make it more chaotic :D

My brother and I really enjoyed your game! It's a unique take on the minecraft-style crafting system.  I will say it was not immediately clear how to craft the items, it took us a little bit to realize the recipe we were shown was for the "refined" version of each ingredient, not the version that we found just chopping down trees and such.  Other than that though no real complaints, the multiplayer aspect works well, and the gameplay overall is solid.

Developer

Thank you for your review and I am glad you have played it with your brother :) I didn't manage to build a proper AI for a singleplayer, unfortunately

Submitted

Wow, this game is well made! I like the idea, this is a really unique execution of the theme on this jam! Even though I have to say, the hardest part was getting used to the controls. I'm not a console player and playing with the keyboard was too hard.

I saw this game because you were asking for more reviews. Would be great If you'd do the same to my game!

Developer

Thanks for checking out Craft Off, I am aware that it is a bit compicated at the beginning :)
I've also played your submission and did leave a rating :)

Love this idea!

Brilliant use of the theme and excellent execution to match! Art style was clean but effective. Very polished all around!

Developer

Thank you for trying out my game, I am happy you liked it. :)
