This is a really great game. The puzzles are super fun, the art is really nice and the mechanics fit the theme so well.
This is one of the best implementations of the jam's theme, you really managed to make it a central gameplay mechanic. I love everything about this game, the visual style, the audio, the whole idea behind the gameplay. I got stuck at a certain point, but I will make sure to come back to it.
If I had to pick one thing to improve, it would be the text, because the font is sometimes hard to read (which you also pointed out in the dialogue) and there are a few grammatical errors.
Overall, a good-looking, polished game with a consistent atmosphere. You just got a new follower, will be looking forward to your future projects.
Wow, thank you so much for your very nice feedback, we really appreciate it! The whole team was deligthed by what you said, it really means a lot :)
I hope you managed to finish the game! If you need hints, we uploaded a full playtrough on YouTube, there are chapters for each levels. Thé video is at the bottom of the game page.
Yes the font is hard to read because it has to be readable in the reflection as well. And the grammatical errors... Sorry, we're just a bunch of frenchie doing their best :D
We are actually currently working on fixing some details we heard a lot about, and add some more stuff, I can keep you updated if you wanna see more when it's released! :)
Hey, that was a really fun game. I got a bit confused when you had to start keeping track of the differences in multiple types of reflections but the mechanic where you've got to keep track of things going on in the mirror is quite cool and I don't think I've seen much if anything, like it before.
This one is my favorite so far. 5/5 on innovation, this is a concept I don't think I've ever seen executed in a game before. Love it!
Amazing experience. That was a total mind bender to control and platform on different reflections! Would love to see this released into a full game!
First Impression:
-Main menu and background image is absolute gorgeous.
-I love the smooth animation and font type you used for the dialogues.
-The music was so nice and fitting the atmosphere!
-When I needed to decrease the volume, I could find the pause menu. That's life saviour let me tell you. Also, the font is so good that it makes this simple menu looks so nice.
-Idea of seeing the platforms from the so called "mirror" is amazind idea! More I play the game more I am invested in! As well as that, way you move in and out the camera is a magic work for me because I hate dealing with camera but sometimes, when i am high in platform it'd not let me see the invisible platforms(or you inteded to do that)
Overall, my impression would continue to do that. Interesting mechanics and challanges making this game top tier. I'd like you guys to continue bulding this game. This deserves more attention!
If you have time, I'd like to hear your thoughts on my game too!
Thank you so much for the very detailed feedback!
We are very glad that you really liked our game, its music, and aesthetics!
Fun fact, one of our previous game jam did not include an options menu in the pause screen to allow the player to lower the volume of the music and we heard from this detail a lot so now we really take the time to build a simple menu to let the player adjust the volume on the fly, glad you noticed it!
The part where you don't see the platforms underneath you is intended, yes, it's supposed to make you go back to see the reflection and memorize the position of the platforms.
We are actually currently working on fixing some details we heard a lot about, and add some more stuff, I can keep you updated if you wanna see more when it's released! :)
Anyway, thanks again for your time playing and reviewing! :D
I think the idea of the mirror is very good, although sometimes you can't see the bottom part and you jump into the void without knowing what you're going to find. Very careful all the aesthetics of the game and music. Congratulations.
Amazing game and i love the reflection idea, it would be nice if the main middle screen had more use other then confusing the player as i found myself only looking at the top and bottom mirrors all the time completely ignoring the middle one which is also the best looking one. But still its a great game and amazing concept, definitely going to rate high!
Check out my game too if you have the time. It would be a big help :)
Thank you so much for your review, we’re very glad you enjoyed our game!
To quote my fellow team member about the "uselessness" of the real world:
Originally, we intended to have 3 more levels where the character's reflection was not visible, so you would have to look at the reflection to know the layout of the level, but then focus on the "real" world to navigate. Unfortunally, we didn't have time to create those levels ^^'.
Anyway, thank you again for your feedback :)
Whow.. guys... i realy like your graphic style and game design. :) Its sooo good.
Wow cool game. I like the color used there. Sadly some sprites are a lil bit blurry. Also the control feels a lil bit delayed. But overall the game is cool and beautiful!
Great work!
Wow, GREAT game. The visuals and the gameplay were so spot on, there were checkpoints exactly where I hoped there would be, and the layout of the maps was super clever. The only bug I encountered was the reflections going off screen a little but I was still able to finish fine so certainly not big issue. Congrats, you did a really good job.
Thank you!
Yeah we wanted death to not be a pain, so placed checkpoint before each puzzle to avoid frustration, glad you noticed and liked it :)
Well, if you’re talking about the platforms at the end of the first, they’re hidden from the view on purpose, you have to go back a bit, let the camera zoom out and memorize where the platforms are but maybe the execution here is not perfect.
Anyway, thanks for your nice feedback!
Seriously cool, you guys. I'm glad to see that you mixed up the way the mirrors worked between levels, it made it a lot more interesting than always having one mirror at the bottom of the screen.
I loved how the music dynamically changed when the shadow enemy came onscreen, that was a nice touch. And the parallax backgrounds were so cool!
Also, it cracks me up seeing the jam description you guys wrote while knowing you had only 34 seconds before the deadline LOL. Same thing happened to my team ;)
Great job :D
Thank you so much, we’re very glad you enjoyed our game!
I’m sure our composer will be happy to know you noticed the adaptive music :)
Hahaha, yeah, when I saw the deadline and saw I had to fill in these extra fields I kinda panicked and wrote the first thing that came to my mind xD
Anyway, thank you again! :D
Overall a fun experience, I was excited about how much you leveled up the game mechanic in the levels. My favourite part is the music, the graphics were lovely to. Great idea and execution for the game jam :D
I really enjoyed this game. The puzzles were enjoyable, the aesthetic was very pretty, and ending to the story was great. I think everything was well done!
