How does your game fit the theme?
In New Paths, Old Enemies, the theme 'an end is a new beginning' is embodied in the journey of the little fox, who must overcome an old enemy in order to continue its adventure and discover new paths. The game showcases the idea that in order to move forward, we must sometimes bring an end to old conflicts and challenges, and embrace new opportunities and experiences.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all the art and code for New Paths, Old Enemies were created from scratch by our development team. However, we licensed the music from a talented musician to enhance the game's audio experience.

Hi there!
Great to hear that you were able to complete the game with the help of the guide! Understandably, the game mechanics may have been counterintuitive at first, but we are glad that you were able to get into it eventually. we will be sure to pass on your compliments about the art and music to the game developers. They'll be thrilled to hear that you enjoyed those aspects of the game! Thanks for sharing your feedback.
Very cute game and great use of visuals. I was loving the water reflection, different seasons and layered background. Looked awesome! The sleeping until he dies is a tad difficult to figure out, and I didn't understand the connection to the branch, but besides that it has a lot of potential for a fun platformer adventure! Great work!
Hi BrodyA!
Thank you for playing our game and for taking the time to share your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the visuals, including the water reflection and the seasonal changes. We appreciate your comment about the difficulty of the "sleeping until he dies" mechanic, and we'll definitely take that into consideration for future games. As for the connection to the branch, that was meant to be a clue for the player to figure out how to progress in the game, but we understand that it may not have been clear enough. We're glad that you see potential in our game for a fun platformer adventure, and we'll continue to work on improving it. Thanks again for your support and encouragement!
Cool little game! I love the artstyle, especially the environment. And the mechanics of sleeping through seasons that unlocks new possibilities! It’s kinda sad to me that game ends so quicly, I would like to play it a little bit longer :< However over all I like the concept and the execution :)
There is only one thing that didn’t work correctly for me. I accidently softlocked myself when I destroyed the ice that was ment to kill the wolf so I needed to restart the game and break the branch more carefully.
Hello there!
Thank you for playing our game and for your kind words! We're so glad that you enjoyed the art style and the seasonal mechanics. We understand that the game may be a bit short, and we appreciate your feedback on that. We'll keep that in mind as we continue to develop the game.
We apologize for the softlock issue you encountered. We'll investigate this further to make sure it doesn't happen to other players in the future. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Thanks again for playing our game and for sharing your feedback!
This was really interesting, super pretty visuals and music, and an interesting take on the theme. I loved the sleeping fox animation. A touch glitchy with movement while sleeping (I once somehow hit jump and sleep at the same time and ended up in the sky lol) but it was still fun and a cool puzzle, good job!
I particularly like the charm of this one. I'm a big fan of the art style and the fox's art style in particular!
Also, I feel like the theme, while touched on by the story, is actually better represented in the cycle of seasons. It feels very fitting for "An end is a new beginning" to see the seasons going by and spring becoming winter, winter becoming spring, and so on. Nice experience overall.
I'm curious to ask what you used to make the scene and background art!
I love the graphics, the animation and the attention to detail like the reflection in the water. However, were it not for the note, I wouldn't have guessed that the tree branches were interactable as they are part of the background. Also, you can move while sleeping, which I find hilarious.
I really liked the graphics and atmosphere of the game.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I couldn't get past the wolf even if I slept and moved the log around. I assumed I was supposed to jump over the wolf by standing on the log?
Thank you for playing our game and we're glad to hear that you enjoyed the graphics and atmosphere. To get past the wolf, you need to break the branch on top of the wolf's head by jumping on it a few times. Then, sleep until spring to kill the wolf with the ice on top of its head. If you still can't get past it, please let us know and we'll be happy to help you out further.
Your game has a really interesting premise and is absolutely stunning! I wish the jump was a bit higher and less long. Movement also felt a bit too smooth at times. But making a great-feeling platformer is really difficult, and what you got completed in a week is super impressive!! Playing your game is a wonderful experience :)
Thank you for playing our game and for your feedback! We're glad that you found the premise interesting and enjoyed the visuals. We appreciate your suggestions for improvement, even though we're unable to make changes at this time. It's great to hear that you had a wonderful experience playing our game!
Looks fantastic! Really like pixel art sprites and background! Then there's the water! How did you get it to look like that ? I managed to jump around a bit, sleep, and push the log, but then I wasn't sure how to progress. Perhaps this could be made clearer somehow.
a good game if you bring it to the end and remove all the bugs, and so the first level because of them seems difficult
I could not figure out how to get past the first level until looking at the comments, however the art style for the game is beautiful, and the animations are amazing.
Great little game
In the end I figured out how to complete the level !
It's not straight forward that you are able to jump on trees, unless you look at the screenshots. I did laugh a lot at the moral of the story
Hi Mathieu!

We're also thrilled to hear that you found the moral of the story amusing - we had fun coming up with it! Thanks again for playing, and for sharing your thoughts with us - we really appreciate it!
I could not figure out how to beat this game, but the art and music were great. :D

Nice little game.
It's quite cute, but then the dead wolf is a bit off.
There are still a few small bugs. For example, when you are asleep you can still move and bring the log to a position where it is stuck.
Thank you for playing our game and for your feedback!
We're glad that you found the game to be cute, although we understand that the appearance of the dead wolf may be off-putting for some players.
