Really fun game! Loved the concept, though it was a little annoying to go all the way back to wave one each time you die, maybe instead it should only drop by one or two waves? Can imagine this being really amazing with a bit more visual and mechanical polish (and some audio!)

How does your game fit the theme?
When you die, you get the ability to upgrade yourself.
(When enough enemies are killed, they get an upgrade that you are able to choose)
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes - I did
this was all made whilst my high school homework was piling up

I like the upgrade mechanics, but this game definitely needs some banging music
I played it for a while (like 20 minutes) and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It is a simple game but I can see that you put a lot of work to polish it. I especially like how movement was made and how the cannon moves and shoots.
Only if player upgrades were random just like enemies have. I think small rework of how Player gets buffs could also help improve your game. Player can store upgrade points by killing enemies but they have to upgrade themselves and enemies at the same time. Just like enemies work but with player upgrades. Of course, these upgrades aren't active until they die. I think it could work better and by this system you could add more overpowered upgrades.
Thanks for submitting your game to be played for the stream :)
Played through it and overall had a great time. Choosing how your enemies upgrade as well as being able to upgrade yourself made for some nice gameplay and can lead to some nice challenge runs of things like defeating the game in as little deaths as possible while also allowing players that may not be great at the game be able to enjoy it at a nice difficulty level thats artificially balanced for them. Just missing some beats to jam to alongside it
Heres the link to the vod if you wanted to watch (games are separated into chapters and yours is the 10th chapter)
Really cool game. The gameplay loop was super fun and everything felt polished. Getting an upgrade when dying and having to pick an upgrade for the enemies when you kill enough was also a really great way to balance the game to make sure everyone of all skill levels have a good time :). Great work!
Quite a fun little game found myself just sitting there playing, was very polished and i really liked the movement felt very clean and smooth like others said some music and sounds would have been nice but nonetheless fun game
nice game. Some music and maybe different colored enemies would've really improved it. All in all a fun little experience!
This game feels very polished and has a great game feel even without music. It seems to have a lot of thought put into the game design and it was a nice detail for that the text in the player upgrade menu was unique for each time you wanted to upgrade it. Great game!
Awesome game! Some what similar to mine! If it had sound and more enemies it would be really good! Good job!
If you could play mine that would be awesome!
Shothun + piercing are too powerfull :D
Interesting idea with upping enemies as yourself. Recommend to add sounds and more complex enemies in the future. Good game, fine to play
I love your take on the theme. Shotgun + Piercing = Overpowered lololol. Lots of fun. Keep it up.
Nice mechanics, it was fun to play. However there wasn't any audio on my session at least.
Nice game, I like that the player, or the enemies get new abilities depending on who wins.
Though, It would be cool if the player was working towards something, or increasing their level each time they won.
