How does your game fit the theme?
Death is not the end. In mexican prehispanic cosmovision you have to go through 9 afterlifes to be reborn and I took inspiration from that

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
No, I got sfx of dog barking and got code for the text animation in the final scene. I also used sunnyland assets for the vulture

The game provided a lot of entertainment, although it could be challenging at times. I particularly enjoyed the distinctiveness of each level, and the graphics were impressive as well.

However, the game's hitbox for the player seemed larger than the sprite, which resulted in some instances where I received a game over even though I didn't appear to be touching the spikes.

I have been grinding this game for the past 30 minutes and I just CAN'T win the last two levels (the platformer and the one where bears fly at you). I could probably beat these, but it would cost me my sanity.

You've made an AMAZING game! The graphics are great, and the theme is really well implemented, definitely kept me interested! However, i think that you (accidentally?) made a rage game. The hitboxes are unforgiving, the levels are sometimes very difficult (even trolling you), but i uhh like it?

One thing that definitely needs to be changed is the retry button, you should make the player able to just press a key on a keyboard. We use the keyboard the whole time, so it's a bit annoying to reach for the mouse everytime.

However, great job. Definitely one of the best entries of the jam imo.

If you could rate mine also, i would be very happy 😎

Thanks for the feedback!! We are aware of the Hitbox problems we´re looking forward to fix them. Most of our levels depend on your timing to be completed, but we are going to try to decrease the difficuly, we are happy that you really enjoyed the game! Thank you!!!!!!!!

Game was really fun! (although a little too difficult at times)

I loved how each level was completely unique, and th sprites look cool too!

one thing that bothered me is that the player's hitbox is bigger that th sprite, meaning I got some game overs where I wasn't touchingthe spikes, but the game thought I did

Developer

Thanks for playing! The uniqueness of each level is something we worked on to keep the player entertained, and we made sure to switch up the color scheme and game mechanics for each level. My teammate in charge of art assets seemed to highly improve on pixel art through this game jam, and we'll probablly stick to this art style for game jams. It is very rewarding to see our design choices seem effective.

Those hitboxes are a problem I totally overlooked in our development stage since I got too used to the hitboxes being that huge and did not playtest with other people. It's actually already fixed and I am waiting for the jam to end so I can upload that fix.

I like how the levels appeared at the beginning like medals, they were kinda unbalaced, some being super easy and others almost impossible. Fun game, I love the use of the theme, nice job!!

I’m glad you liked the level list with medals, we are currently thinking about how to make the levels less punishing and have a smoother difficulty curve, but it is difficult because of the random order of levels. I’ve thought probably some checkpoints are the way to go but it’s still a complicated decision. Happy to hear you liked how we used the theme, thanks!

Very impressive. Too hard for me, but every "level" was good stuff. And let's be honest the flying arrow hand? That one is REALLY fun.

Maybe make the hitboxes bit smaller so it seems a bit forgiving.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Yes the hitboxes went really bad there and is the first thing we fixed so that we can upload more forgiving hitboxes once the jam is over. It seems the flying arrow hand level is everyone's favorite, and I really enjoyed the making and designing of it, and of course the result.

Thanks for your feedback, fixing the hitboxes and lowering the difficulty are on top our to-do list. It's been a common problem making our game jam games, we'll try to aviod these problems in future games and try to fix it on the current ones. Thanks for the advice!

Pretty neat! I like the idea of playing a different style of game after dying.

The concept of the game is really nice, and so are the levels, but the spike and player hitboxes are too large, and I felt like the jump was too short.  Could go a long way with some improvement.

I like the character design and the concept of the game. It's quite fun honestly but as a rule of thumb try to make the hit box of the obstacle smaller than their texture to give the player some room. Because u want them to have fun and not make ur game too punishing. And maybe start the game slower so player can learn about ur game and slowly increase the intensity as they proceed further.

Keep up the good work btw!

Good game! I love the main character!!! The only thing that felt off to me was the colliders for the spikes were way too big for my liking. I could clearly see that I wasn't touching them and would still die.

Other than that the game felt great and the level design was really good too. Good job! :)
