This game is unexpectedly fun, and a solid game all around... I just want to keep playing it! It would be helpful though if it paused itself when reading the presents and their curses, so I don't have to skim through the text at warp speed... Even college finals could not prepare me for this level of high intensity speed reading XD

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! We tried it and liked it better if you have to be quick to read and sometimes you have to come back to pick up the gift after clearing the area a bit. Haha! Makes it a little more difficult and you have to think fast.

After playing this game again, I have a suggestion for you. Instead of having a curses with each weapon, maybe have different stages that are setup that play with a particular curse game mechanic throughout the whole level. Give each level or stage a name/title on top of the screen hinting at what they're about to expect on that stage. This is just a suggestion. The way the game plays now is cool the way it is. Just throwing out some ideas.

I really like this game. Very Challenging! Santa is one bad Mo Fo. He's such a menace. And yes I do feel the earth move under my feet. He shakes the screen almost every time he runs after you. You know what I'm about to tell you. Don't mean to be the elephant in the room. I know we live in a PC society. But come on. Weight Watchers! Or the IKEA diet. Sorry I mean Keto diet. Hey I was close! He knows when you've been sleeping. He knows when your awake. He knows when you've been bad or good but please quit shaking the damn screen for goodness sake! HaHa! On a serious note, if any of you old school gamers out there have played Robotron before, you're definitely going to love this. My highest score so far is 79. Tomorrow I'm going for over 100. Thanks again!

Very nice game, easily in my top 10 :)  Also, love the pun title!

Developer

Wow, thanks! We definitely had fun making it, and appreciate the comments!

Well polished,  the curses add a nice gameplay twist as well.

Developer

Glad you liked 'em!

Nicely polished for a jam!

Developer

Thanks! We tried, for sure! 😁

This was a really fun little game. I enjoyed Santa's "HoHoHo" before he attacks. Added a nice telegraph and made him pretty scary at the same time. The curses were a very nice touch to the present upgrades.

Great job!

Developer

Thanks, we had a ton of fun making the game! Mike basically threw together the santa logic in one big push, and it adds so much to the game 😁

Santa keeps pinning me down!

Very nicely done.  That's a lot of work for such a short time! Art/animation/music/concept are all great. And the curses kicked my butt.

Developer

Thanks Collider! You're really burnin' through all the submissions! Hope they're not burning through all 7 of your GPUs!
Best of luck getting through the rest of 'em :D

Submitted(+1)

Hah, thanks! Was just on PCPartpicker working up a 2nd machine... your game deserves to be played on 11 GPUs at least!

Developer

Yikes!

This was a fun, I like the concept of a survival rogue. The enemy types were great to fight and the curses were a cool idea. Some of the enemys couldn't path around walls which made them easy to avoid. Other than that, this is a solid entry.

Developer

Yeah I really wish we had more time to look into AI and pathfinding and certainly get some more spawn points in the game. But it was out first time using Godot, so maybe next jam will be easier for us 😁

Nice game! Like the random curses system. Good pixel art. Scary santa Haha!

Developer

Thanks! It was a blast to make!

Very cool systems here!  I gotta learn how to do a lot of this~ Great job!  If you have time play my entry 'Puma Cat'~

Developer

Thanks, I sure will! Trying to pry my eyes from my computer at night for a day or two so I can recover from the jam, but I'm excited to play through everyone's games!

Cool game, great sound effects to know what's coming (the santa attack). I really liked it and it looked great :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks BananaMan! Bree did ALL the pixel art from scratch on an iPad during the jam! And she's never done pixel art before!
Can't wait to play your game! I've been seeing it poppin' off on the discord :D

That's nice for first time pixel art! I'm impressed

Cool game, I love santa's animations. Bonus point for the name :)

Developer

Santa's animation was our favorite one too, it made Bre giggle the whole time she was making it. Once Mike added the audio and rage mechanics he took his final boss form!

I liked it. Fun mechanic about curses with each weapon.

It's a nice endless survival shooter that has some cool enemies and mechanics.

Only thing I thought was bit much was the punishment of the curse seemed to outweigh taking the weapon everytime, but you do get to read what curse you get so it's not really an issue.

Thanks for the feedback! We definitely agree, that sometimes the curses outweigh the benefit of the present, so it definitely makes it a decision you should weigh before choosing to pick up an item.
