Am I a Monsprite Master now? :3

Your game did an incredible job at keeping me interested in pretty much everything. Heck, I even restarted the whole thing three times just to FINALLY win the very first battle vs. Magenta just to see what happens afterwards.

I enjoyed almost everyhing about this game. Both battle systems, the music, the Monsprites themselves (especially Medicinomon - don't ask me why, but I love her), the time travel mechanic, the possibility to enslave humans ... The only thing I honestly disliked was the poop mechanic. I mean, I get it, the mons are supposed to be babies, but I barely see any value in clening up their shit gameplaywise. Maybe I just hate being a Monsprite mommy in general.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! Only responsible trainers would clean the poop of their monsprites ;) (mechanically doesn't do much, just for some digimon flavour haha).

Curious if you managed to beat the first fight that's rigged for you to lose - I did make some scenes just in case of very good RNG, but never expected anyone to get it!

Im a fan of the series so i was impressed on how well you mimic the pokemon franchise, with a bit of a new elements of your creation.

Great job, aesthetically and fun gameplay!

Developer

Thanks! It was a fun exercise to learn how to use SRD's new Hudmaker to make things look like Pokemon. Amazing add-on for MZ!

this game is good.... you really did a good job with this game.

hidden cheats theme is really suited with this game.

combined pokemon vibe and SOF Akuma pose is quite giving me a shock lol

more amazing you put 2 battle system in this game. i also want to learn that.... hehehe

Developer

Thanks! The "battle systems" are just mostly evented on a separate map that moves the characters around to look like a battle screen.

This could have been a straightforward Pokemon style game and it would have been spectacular. Instead, Nowis took the themes, twisted them a bit, and made them something truly, truly special. I was compelled to catch them all despite being short on time, and I was not disappointed in the least.

The artwork is such a jaw-dropping effort, and the care put into the special moves and ultimates was equally awe inspiring. Add to that good writing and a tight, fun puzzle/fighting/rpg gameplay loop and it's just the sort of thing all devs should learn from.

I highly suggest you make a full Monsprite game (maybe with fewer subversive themes), get rich, quit your day job, and dev all day every day for the benefit of humanity.

Thanks Human! Any fuller monsprite-game may have Nintendo knocking on my door for twisting their beloved monster catching genre ;)

Hey if Nexomon can get away with it, so can you!

This game is fantastic! Back when I learned about Pokémon, I had assumed it would be an extension of the digital pet craze - imagine my disappointment when I learned that it was an entirely different thing! But you managed to combine those elements together (and even some fighting game elements) and given my dream a glimmer of life! Now I can see a miniature version of what I imagined all those years ago. Way cool!

The fighting game part of the game was a little hard to figure out, but that might be because I suck at fighting games.

I tried to 100% the game, but then I realized I need to trade with the companion version - what would that be? Opal?

Developer

Unfortunately Rose-Quartz version has been cancelled :P Did you manage to play as the dinosaur that the rival has? There is a way to get the dinosaur as your monster.

!!! There is a way to get the rival's mon!? I need to go back and try again.

OK I 100% the game and I gotta say: Nowis you mad genius! Look at what you made me do! 🤣 I originally thought the "create monsprites" phrase was a typo of some sort, little did I know it held a more sinister meaning...

But seriously this is an awesome game! Drifty's stream didn't do this game justice! You are truly an inspirational dev.

Tons of fun, you made me nostalgic for the old days of Pokemon, the vibe was perfect. Everything looked and sounded stellar.

The action battle system was a blast too, and the way things went toward the end was hilariously entertaining.

Great job!

This was great, I thought I knew what I was in for but the game kept surprising me. You really have a talent for creating something nostalgic and then making it feel fresh.  Is it possible to collect all the monsprites? I had 7 and the game said I could collect more but I couldn't find where.

Developer

Thanks! There's seven types to find, the Spritopedia has a total of 14 (7 for the baby form, 7 for the evolved form). If that is full then it means you have found them all.

That 8 bit collection is great for these pixel-style games! Thanks for the feedback, could be cool to have something between the beginning and the tournament. I originally wanted a training montage but didn't have time to make it :P
