You did some interesting things with this game. The ambient background sounds along with the filter effects did a great job of creating an unsettling atmosphere. The story concept was good but the translation took away some of its impact. The enemies are very unforgiving, I would suggest starting off with fewer to let the player get used to knocking them. I think you have a talent for horror games but the gameplay needs a little improvement.

Just found out I played the hard mode version too lol

Oh I totally missed that in the alley. I think that should be enough to guide the player to the right strategies. I think I'll give it another go later, would like to see the later encounters.

This was challenging, it was fun trying to work out the right setup to win, don't know if there were any but maybe a vague hint as to how to beat the harder encounters would be a nice touch. It's a really cool idea and it's making me want to try making some kind of arena tournament game myself.

Fantastic, loved every minute. The combat was more challenging than in Buffet Knight, I died a couple of times and those chickens can put up a hell of a fight. I couldn't figure out how to get the other ending, I got the evil one of course.

Your game has a higher kill count than mine and that makes me sad. I enjoyed the story a lot, and the setting was really cool, especially seeing the planets in the background, I love stuff like that as you probably know :)

Really cool art, felt like I was reading a comic or watching an anime. Very interesting so far, what genre of game will it be? I  see a lot of potential for the story and the cutscene was good enough to leave me wanting more.

This is dope, I love this kind of aesthetic and music.

This is great. I love the characters and their unique personalities. When playing RPGs I often question the morality of murdering innocent wildlife, so it's nice to be on the animals' side for a change. I wish I could've taken all of them with me, and I can't believe you did the mouse like that, I loved that little guy.

I've been adding some extra content and fixing bugs, it was meant to be back up a few weeks ago, but I've been busy with some other stuff. It's almost done now though and should be ready by the end of this week, I hope you enjoy it.

Your puzzles are really fun and creative, and the cryptic style of storytelling went well with the tone of the game. The ending is nice too, I like what you did to create an eerie atmosphere.

Pretty cool how you removed the title screen and menus, then had the game close at the end, as if to say this isn't a game but an experience, makes the whole thing seem poetic, at least I think that was what you were going for.

I almost didn't play this one because the cover art was a bit bland, but I'm really glad I did, nice work!

Love the custom art and your writing style. It's hard to make something that's genuinely funny, but you really nailed it. The battle skills were unique enough to keep combat interesting and overall it was very enjoyable.

I look forward to more of your work.

Pretty cool little game, I like the funky music and the aliens. I found it nice that they don't kill you and just escort you out politely.

It would be nice to have a few more mechanics to spice up the gameplay I think. Also, the game is only available on android I think I was only able to play because I have Bluestacks installed. I think other jam participants will have trouble running it.

I think the game you're speaking of is Miracle Warriors on Sega Master System,  it was the first RPG I ever played, and this project is kind of my tribute to it. I always felt that game was more about the journey than the characters and I think the square serves its purpose in that respect. Also, it cuts down a lot on dev time :)

I'm happy you enjoyed it. I've already adjusted the speed for the updated version, but I'm also looking at other ways to make exploration less tedious, like adding a minimap and improving some of the dungeons. Thanks for playing.

I was a bit disappointed when it was over, you got me wanting more.  You have a really unique art style and it's been inspiring watching you improve with every jam. I can instantly recognize your games now just from the screenshots. Good job, Knightly.

Sorry you feel that way, You can actually finish the game in 30 mins if you become the villain and kill the traveling merchants, since they drop a lot of coins. I made it intentionally harder if you only do the right thing. Thanks for the feedback.

Cool visual style and music to complement it. I found it amusing that we were cannibalizing our own species to evolve :)

I never thought eradicating all life could be so relaxing. I enjoyed every minute of this, great use of become the villain theme. Great entry.

I just checked again to make sure, after the battle with the turtle leader and she puts on the helm, there's a map transfer then it goes to game over for me.

Interesting battle system, I like that it encourages you to find the best strategy to deal with the enemies.

This was really fun, great job.

The swimming section was difficult, I had to switch from gamepad to keyboard to do it.  I think it would be a good idea to heal the characters at certain points as I was going into fights with hardly any HP and couldn't make a single mistake. Also, it ended kind of abruptly with a  game over screen, was that meant to happen? It took me by surprise a bit.

The whole turtle invasion was really cool, I especially liked the voice-acted cutscene with them preparing for war. I've not played the other games so it was a bit hard to get into the rest of the story.

Hey, thanks so much for the feedback, KV. The music is Firebreak - Retro Action music pack by Tom Jensen, I made the music for the village though. Sorry about Life Belt bug too, although it's pretty funny how instead of giving more life it cripples you lol.

Went too deep too soon and damn near broke my arm battling that monstrosity. Great game as always.

Thanks, Nova. A lot of the game is inspired by the first RPG  I ever played, Miracle Warriors on sega master system. You played as a square in that too and I think that's why I like making first-person battles.

The last dungeon is buggy as hell as I didn't have enough time to test. It goes black because I forgot to add a fade in, You can actually move around a bit to trigger a random battle and that should fix the black screen and let you finish.

Congrats everyone!

Will you be releasing the judge's scorecard so we can see how the rest of us did?

Thanks so much for the kind words, you've given me a serious motivation boost!

It's very likely that I'll start working on the full game once the jam is over, I'll be making an extended version of the demo too. I've got some pretty cool ideas about where to take the story.

The bike transition was actually really easy to fix, I had just forgotten to activate transparency in the common event.

Never seen Hellraiser? You should watch it sometime, it gave me nightmares for weeks as a child! I only stole the Haroldite idea from it, the story and everything else is quite different.  You're right about the ending, I would have liked to provide more story, but I'm glad it's not too cryptic for people to figure out.
