Lots of weapons, good upgrade mechanic
Really good game :)
Great game! Love the gameplay loop and the visuals, nice job!
Thanks! Great to hear that you enjoyed the gameplay and visuals!
This game is very fun. Roguelike upgrade mechanic is super fun and give a lot of replayability. I enjoyed while playing.
Cheers for the feedback! :) That's what we aimed for!
Super fun game with lots of replayability. I kept messing around with the weapons, the fact that they're directional means that depending on the position you have to play differently, which grants points for creativity.
And I love the lightning rod, got a really good fun with two lvl3 ones, got obliterated by the boss because I was too close to it though lol.
Great work with this one, I had a good time playing it.
Awesome to hear that you enjoyed playing! :)
Yeah, just gotta love the sound of Birbs getting roasted on the rods! xD It's one of my personal favorites as well!
But it is true that the boss is quite difficult with a melee weapon, you'd have to have very good reflexes to dodge the dash attack if you stood too close!
this game has very good pixelart and challenge, but i always get stuck imideatly after the birds are over, until then: very fun
Hey mate, thanks for your comment! The obstacle stage is a bit challenging, but with some practice I'm sure you'd get through it!
Really cool entry.
The various powerups you came up with are quite creative, especially combined with the randomness of the roguelike system and the directional slots system.
the only tiny issue i'd say is that since proposed powerups are random, you can sometimes get quite a difficult start for example when your first set only gives downwards or rear facing weapons, but then again the procedural stuff adds a lot of replay value potential so more of a nitpick than anything.
Cause if you manage to get good stuff and get a run going it's very fun, more so when you can get some of the more OP weapons.
Overall had a good time,
well done to you guys :)
Thanks for the detailed feedback! Great to hear that you found our ideas interesting :)
We've noticed the same thing about the powerups, and that is something we'll need to look into! Maybe if on the first level you'd always get a choice of specific weapons that are good starting weapons? Or maybe there could be different kinds of ships that each have a specific starting weapon that you could put into any slot.
Nice game! I like the roguelike thing in that, makes it so replayable.
Thanks you mate! Gotta love 'em roguelikes :)
Wonderful idea! I think the concept of upgrading your ship in unique ways is neat and I like the overall concept. It's challenging but creative and fun!
Cheers for the kind words, mister!
Really nice game ! Remind me of Vampire survivor, Really well polished, and lot of content Well play
Cheers! Yeah, Vampire Survivors was one of the big inspirations for this project ;D.
I am a cuker for well polished games and I love everything about this!
The only criticism I have is that you used esc for pause. Since it's play in browser it fucks up the fullscreen. I would also appreciate more powerful weapons. Especially early in the round it is very tricky to avoid to many projectiles on screen.
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, we didn't take the esc for key button thing into account when making it, which was a mistake. And yeah, the balancing of the weapons is still a bit off, we'll dive into it after we recover from the jam :). One possible idea is to build more depth into the system with more weapon levels and different kinds of weapons (also more powerful super weapons!).
I loved this game! super fun, the music was great! Loved the upgrading element. My only feedback was the game was a little difficult, I just wanted to keep playing without restarting (balancing). Either way, amazing job!
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the game is a bit on the difficult side at the moment. If we decide to develop the game further, the curve will steepen a bit more gradually as the lenght of the game is greater. :)
The procedural element allowing a level 3 laser or weapons in 3 directions was really satisfying, only sometimes the larger pelicans(?) would be positioned too far over to the opposite side of where the weapon was facing.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, currently the game is rather short so the player doesn't have time to build up a large weapon selection, but when dealing with pelicans the Rotator works pretty well as it attacks in all directions :). It of course requires the player to be aware of the egg attack!
You're not kidding XD that difficulty spike be like /\
Neat idea! I'm afraid a lot of the weapons are quite underpowered against the boss, so it would've been more fun if I just had the laser gun the entire time and the game was balanced around that.
Hey! Yes, the balancing side of the weapons is a bit of a work in progress still! After we recover from the Jam we'll have a look into it. :)
Cheers for the feedback!
