I played your game for half an hour. It's very cute and interesting! Here is what I thought about it.
GAME MECHANICS
STORY/NARRATIVE
NAVIGATION
ART
THEME
wow ok many things to answer
1)I am not sure about the dark screen and (stuck there?), But the dark screen is when fake missions are accepted, and on life is removed, I got a suggestion to add text representation of what happened as it was hard to figure out, I have improved ot in that aspect
2) The quests agreed were very little, had to work on other aspects if the game aswell, believe it or not the dialogues and quests were coded last hour of the submission, adding more quests is what I am working on currently.
3) The mini map in this state is utterly useless, but I had to implement it, I had an Idea of using it like GTA, but couldn't complete it in time, I added recently NPC location and zoomed out the map a little. The sqaure was unfortunately my lack of understanding of rotation, I had a pointing arrow initially thought of using but I couldn't figure out the rotation of it, in my current state I figured out the rotation and are working great!
4) The assets (game art) are made my me from scratch, even the trees I am glad it feels like something from unity store, it boosts my confidence about my art :D
5) Interesting point on guard... I'll update that character to look like a boss.
PS did you complete lying to guard and entered the cave? Cause I feel thats the main point of the game... Thanks for this in detail feedback :)
I was going to level up enough to see the guard (by the way, the connection between the full gauge and being able to lie to the guard is unclear. Had to read your text tutorial to understand that part), but the game got stuck on a black screen.
I reloaded it, tried to get further, but on a second play the gauge feels an eternity to fill xD. After that I read your spoilers of the end.
So you did all the art yourself, wow, very good job!
Great graphics, musics gets repetitive fast(same as quests), but thanks to those graphics it was very pleasing. :)
I like the graphical style and the concept with the lying, however I'm not a fan of the minimap, its honestly completely useless as it only shows maybe and inch more than whats on screen. Also some of the dialogue didn't seem to make sense. I agree with what other people said about needing an indicator that the player was scammed. It was also hard to find where I was going, improvements to the map would likely fix this.
I also liked the characters you made and many of the quests were fun. Overall good job!
Thankyou! yes I zoomed out the map and added npc locations in map fir better navigation. The dialogues which doesn't makes sense,... Well it makes sense as they are lies
Thankyou for the character part, it was my first time in pixel art, will improve mire next time! :)
Good thinking with the map, that will fix a lot of things.
The art is nice, but the music is a bit repetitive. I got a mission to go to the pub, but I couldn't figure out how to get into the pub. Perhaps you can also make the map a bit bigger, since it currently doesn't show more than is already on the screen.
Oh sorry, but the mission was not get into pub, but was to follow a couple untill they enter the pub and tell the mission giver where the couple went,
About the map, I have fixed it and added more features like npc locations and much more, thankyou for your feedback
Nice art ...Music was also cool !!!! Good work :)
Minimap was just showing the same what was on screen ... it had no special use!!! But else it was good !!
Like the idea! Art was really good. Audio was nice! Good job.
Though the mini map can't look further than the main screen so what's the purpose of it?
Other than that, amazing game!
Thanks for playing and about the map,...
I actually forgot to zoom out, no special reason, I fixed that and added locations of NPCs throughout the map, to make use of the map... But you'll have to wait to see those changes
interesting consept. love it. had a few graphical issues though. the screen will black out and freeze for a couple seconds. could see the minimap showing the player moving animation but he doesnt move.. dont know if its just the webplayer or its somehow intentional.
That happens when the player accepts a mission which is scam, you'll be approaching a person and in a radius, blackout of screen will signify you lost a life, and a heart will be less on your screen.
perhaps some text next time as well, just "scammed" or something in the middle of the screen.
sure, will do! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Great take on the theme and even though I'm not a big 2d pixel rpg fan, this felt fun and very well put together. A strong contender for a winning game!
Wow! Those are some strong words! I dont think I'll be in that category, but will be very happy if many people play it :)
Show me your game too! I certainly want to play it!
I especially liked the art.
An improvement can be increasing the amount of quests. Otherwise a cool entry in a week
I liked the graphics and the concept, well done !
That was neat. I love Pixel-RPG-Style Games.
If you want to see arrows pointing toward your target like HawKre suggested you should try out my game:
https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476649
Also available as Browser-Version only not linked to the submission
https://chephan.itch.io/gamescape-html
The game is really original, but it still needs some work on it. Like, instead of putting black squares, put arrows pointing to where you have to go. It could have been way better if the execution had been more worked at. Great game, though!
Yeah I fixed it the very next day after submission
Nice concept, but requires some polish

This game was very original, and a lot of fun!
Fun little game. I felt like a right creeper hiding behind the tree to see which pub the dude's sister went to! I like being able to lie or tell the truth. Music was a little repetative. Overall, fantastic effort.
Would really appreciate if you could review our game too :) Thanks!
Very nice! At first I didn't know what the black 'target' square was, so I'd make that an exclamation mark.
I like the idea of playing with the trust of the people and the fact that you can lie.
Sometimes it's a bit repetitive due the fact that you need a lot of lies compared to the small ammount of different quests available (maube because the lack of time due the jam?), but that is nothing to do with gameplay, I think that just adding more different quests would solve it.
I really like the concept and the art. I also like the audio. If you polish the game more i think it can be really interesting. Also making more areas to suit the quests will be cool too
Really great! I liked how the simple music had an echo and the sprite art was amazing! The minimap was cool too! If i had a suggest, if you pick up a quest maybe have an arrow point you to the way (I couldn't find the bar guy). Also I ran into a small bug, walked by the dark building and got trapped inside the sprite hehe. Still a super awesome entry, great job!
Please check out my game when you can~
Yes I updated my game in editor to have an arrow instead of square, I will update it as soon as the review period ends.
You have any idea how that glitch can be over-come?
I will surely check your game out
Decent game with good art! I did find myself talking to people and they said I falsely accused them when only went to talk and the favours of the townspeople kept repeating. Apart from that it was good! :D
Hmm, might be a glitch in game, when you talk to them, or if you have lied to them/ accused them so many times that the loose trust in you, (indicated by slider above them) they wont even talk to you.
Yeah the repetitiveness is true, adding more quests is my first and big aim after this review period!
