Very cozy and so much depth and polish! The only thing I would take a look at is making the tutorial more action-based; it's a lot to digest via text popups. Spend some time smoothing that learning curve and you've got a seriously fantastic game. Overall fun to play - great job!

Developer

Yeah that seems to be the main criticism. I'll see what I can do about that in the future ๐Ÿ‘

WOAH! This game grabbed me IN! It has a bit of a steep learning curve, and at first I really wasn't feeling it. It wasn't till year 5 that I started to actually get into it and understand what was going on (about 30 minutes or so) then I got super into it! I started from scratch and orchestrated my master plans.

I wish it went a BIT longer than 5 years, like 6 or 7! At the end of year 5 all of my setup was THIS close to being done and ready to dish out!

I got a final highscore of ~13000, super awesome game! Keep up the work, and I'd love to see this finished as I think there are so many ways it can be improved and expanded to make a really good finished product :)

Hey Mopi, I love to see your enthusiasm! I'll use this game as a sandbox for learning more about game design. Xan did all of the coding and I'll build on that in the future, so you can expect updates.

For example, an endless mode is intended. I can't make any promises in how fast I'll be though seeing as I'm working 40 hours and studying game design at the same time ๐Ÿ˜…

Also, here's a nugget of knowledge since you're so into it: There are further economy mechanics that are a little hidden. Every animal has a tier list of food  that goes from 100 % to 30 % happiness effectivity. The tooltips tell the extremes, but the in between ranking us hidden ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'll have to rework balancing a little too, though. Some stuff is a little too OP ๐Ÿ˜‚

Rather fun and chill game. Really good if you're the kind of player who wants to optimize your play strategies.

Developer

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ I did a lot of calculations in the economy, but I'm not completely happy with it yet ๐Ÿ˜

Very enjoyable and cozy game

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

That looks so cool, I would love a Second game where the plants are actually AI. moving here and there and we have to cut them to harvest

Developer

Thanks so much. I deleted your duplicate post, I hope that's okay

Same thing happened to me. Don't worry about it.

Incredibly polished and really great concept! Loved the music as well. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch! Glad you enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed this! Iโ€™m usually bad at these kinds of games, so between the looming winter, five-year timeframe and information overload I was really anxious at first, but finding out it was more or less turn-based and didnโ€™t really seem to have a fail state let me relax and have fun feeding the rabbits (and other animals).

Really nice game!! very similar to ours (me and my sister made it)!! Keep making these you are very good!! :D

Developer

Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

This game rules! Great music, design, and execution. My only critique is there is a bit too much to learn all at once when starting out. By the end my first few years I started getting the hang of it (still managed >5000 score!). With some additional polish this could go a long way. Excellent job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks a lot your feedback is appreciated ๐Ÿ‘ The rule feedback is a regular one it seems. I'll see if I can find the time in the future to introduce a guided tutorial.

Really cool game! Very complicated, kinda falls into the same trap as mine by having a ton of information at the beginning so it takes some time to learn. You clearly put a lot of work into planning it out and its pretty enjoyable. The art and music are great as well. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks a ton. Yeah same problem as you: no time for a guided tutorial was left.

Great Game! My socre was 3827!

Wow! Beautiful art, peaceful soundtrack, and awesome gameplay. You can tell that a lot of work went into this game. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot. And yeah, I'm pretty destroyed. My buddy and I both work full-time so this is all after hours. Catching up with sleep today :D

This is one of my favourite games so far. The only thing that's missing for me is a way to know how far into the year the player's progressed. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! We actually discussed putting such a counter in the progress bar at the top but ultimately decided against it, to make it more of a educated guess thing. With some luck more ppl will comment on that, then I'll add that counter post jam ๐Ÿ˜

Full stars across the board. I really enjoyed this one. It felt like it was well thought-out, and equally well-executed. I knew I was having a great time when I accidentally hit the back-button that FOR SOME REASON exists on the side of my mouse and thought I lost all my progress on year 5 and was devastated ๐Ÿ˜…(Luckily it only backed out of full-screen and gave me the option to restore...)

I'd hate to leave you with no suggestions, so the quality-of-life updates I'd like to see are just a counter of how many days a crop/fishing-cat has until next harvest (relative to now) and maybe a way of visualizing the range of most placeables. (particularly utilities which say "adjacent" on the tool-tip, but don't specify if that's 4 or 8 sides) Tbh, the game works fine without those things, but if you were to expand it into a longer experience post-jam, it would be helpful.

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the feedback and the very kind words. I'll definitely take it into consideration. Especially the range of utilities is probably a good idea. For anyone that is wondering, too: All mechanics are built for the 8 spaces around a game object, never 4.

Submitted(+1)

I like the idea of sharing the food with the animals.

Submitted

nice game, almost looks like mine, the items info covers the middle of the screen when planting stuff which was a bit annoying, other than that it was relaxing and fun

Developer

Hm. You mean the tooltips of already placed objects obstruct your view when placing new things? Is that it?

I wanna go back after the jam is over and fix stuff and improve on feedback, that's why I'm asking ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks in any case ๐Ÿ˜Š

Love it, I definitely went for the badgers and beans/hazelnuts strategy :P

Picking up all the resources with the cursor was very satisfying.
