Criteria | Rank | Score* | Raw Score |
Overall fun and playability | #121 | 2.389 | 2.389 |
Ranked from 18 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.
Theme incorporation
Solitude is incorporated - there are no other party members, no stores, etc. The player is alone in a dungeon, must obtain an item, and then flee.
The ancient ruins theme is also intended to come through a little bit (as referenced in the starting note in the player's inventory), though it's a little harder to see given the low resolution of the sprites / graphics.

I escaped with 1 silver coin haha
My primary feedback would be the perspective, it's a little confusing figuring out when an enemy or treasure chest was in the tile directly infront of me and I could interact with it. It's something I also struggle with in my games to be honest.
I actually had quite a bit of fun playing this one, exploring and fighting the enemies, the music fits the dungeon well and the layout was interesting while not being too maze like to where I just felt lost the entire time.
Not sure if there was a map and I just missed it, but I actually learned the layout of the dungeon pretty well by the time I backtracked to the exit ladder :)
Nice entry!
Short and simple. I had fun with this one! I would love to see keyboard controls / a better set of buttons. But, I did manage to beat the game.
I hope to see you in the next DC Jam!

Appreciate the playthrough and the comments! Was fun and highly educational to watch. The notes on perspective and on the alternating tile in the presence of instant movement were useful - will keep that in mind for next time.
Hope to make it back for the next jam, too!
I got 1 silver! Lol. Fun crawler. I actually ended up finding the exit first which told me to go find the treasure first and boy was it a while before I got back. The combat was simple but I actually had to use some potions because I kept burning up my stamina and getting low so it was easy, but not too easy. The game could have benefited from a map, I honestly have no idea how I managed go from the exit to the treasure and back but I did. Some of the hallways and rooms were a bit long and empty, so I wish there was a bit more to reward exploration. I wish keyboard movement was available, it would have made my finger less sore !
All in all I enjoyed it. Also very cool you built it in javascript. Kudos!
Thanks for playing! It likely doesn't help anyone find their way to the exit when all the walls look the same.
I managed to figure it out and get out of the dungeon with treasure. It wasn’t an easy thing to do without keyboard controls I might say! Overall combat felt too easy, almost never got hit, while obliterating everything in my way. Went over dungeon 3 times until I realized that the goal is to just escape with a treasure, which I instantly did, as I’ve memorized the general layout of that dungeon :)
Loved instant movement, music and gloomy visuals, but disliked mouse-only controls and shortness of it :)
Good job!
The comments are much appreciated!
I escaped! The game works well and is actually funny to play. It is a bit intuitive to have to click to move, but the movement is great. Music is nice and works well. Random dungeons seems to have good generation as well. It took me a while to realize I lost stamina when moving, which is a bit of a hazzle. Good job!
It is incredible that it is only using JS. Having keyboard controls can be a really nice addition. Nice presentation and interesting atmosphere, Good job!
I enjoyed the UI layout, but also didn't like having to press the movement directions. Overall a good vibe and atmosphere though.
Hey! I played it for a few rounds and I think it qualifies fully for the theme of ancient ruins and even a bit for endless if you take the procedural game mechanic into account
I think the basis for a solid dungeon crawler is there and if I could wish for a few things, these would be the ones:
Thank you for submitting this! And I hope I can play another version sometimes in the future.
Really appreciate the in-depth review and comments!
I think the keyboard comment has been a running theme, so that'll be fixed for sure.
I like the comment about enemies moving in response to the player's actions - this is making me think about moving entirely to turn-based interaction. I agree that the stamina mechanic could use some rework, too.
It's got a lot going for it. I like the look and the UI, but since it won't let me play with keyboard I struggle to enjoy it fully. It would be better if the enemies were static. Then I could take my time and explore at my own pace. Still, thanks for submitting :)
Appreciate the playthrough and the comments!
PROS: like that you did this in JS, the music was pretty good.
CONS: really hard to move around, design didn't really compel me to explore, large sections in map that were empty.
Appreciate the playthrough and the review!
It is rather impressive, that this is all just javascript, but it need a bit of work. I wish the keyboard controls were in, as the button layout makes it quite hard to play comfortably. But I like the oldschool feeling you were going for.
Appreciate the comments and the playthrough!
Nice job! great presentation and atmosphere!
Thanks much!
I killed some eyes and snakes and left with the treasure. I like the traditional combat, log and font used for the log, I'm also always happier when playing a game with instant movement.
Appreciate the comments, and thanks for playing through it!
