I can tell you have a lot of ideas, and for a first attempt you should be proud !
I got a little cartoonish vibe, it really feels you want to tell a story through your music.
Drum parts are a bit loud in the mix to my taste, and I would have loved hearing the melodies more developped, as your tracks are a bit short. But very pleasing to listen to nonetheless !
There's some great things here, congrats, and keep it up !
I really like the second and the third track and the character in your music in general. I think the rhythm in the first track was clashing a little (the rhythm in the instrument tracks didn't meld very well with one another) and made it harder to listen to. It might also be that the instruments you were using were unintentionally accenting beats that worked against the time signature. I really like the idea of "conversations" though and the rhythms you chose to work with to evoke that idea worked really well. Great work!
"Rolling in the wind" reminds me of sonic adventure background music with the chao nursey level. no sure if you intended for the kick on "serious matters" to be variable but it definitly satisfies "breaking the rules". All these songs could work as menu or loading screen music. Good job.
Thanks for the feedback! I had no specific game in mind, although I guess I subconsciously did lean towards more retro than anything.
So happy to hear that you're making your first attempt during this jam! Keep going, it's going to be fun.
The tracks have a nice mood, really enjoyable and in general they create some consistent scenarios that you might face in a game.
I agree with Gurnt. regarding the mix. But in general, you did a good job!
I really like the vibe you're going for - they're fun to listen to and I think the melody is solid.
A peace of feedback that I have for this would be I felt the drums were a little overbearing on the melody, so bringing the drums down a little bit might help it stand out. Additionally, I would've liked to have heard some of your ideas fleshed out a bit beyond these 30-ish second pieces.
Other than that, I enjoyed what you created. Hopefully we'll get to hear more of your work in longer pieces in the future. Keep up the good work :)
I really appreciate detailed feedback. You are absolutely correct about the drums: so far I have only been learning mostly about drums, rhythm and such - hence I have only added light layers of instruments that act as bass and some very simple chords (major, minor, sus2 and sus4) to focus on that part. Will definitely consider updating the pack with longer version if I come back to this when I learn more about making music.
ohh it has 8bit vibes which I love and at the same time it has a nice BD sound :) some instruments could be a bit lower in volume maybe, but otherwise i like the tracks :)
