Theme interpretation
I interpreted it fairly literally. The game's based on shooting between moons using a rocket strapped to your back, making moonshots between them, if you will.

can you make a version of it but you need a ps4 dualshock controller?

it would be great!

I really like the concept, it is an interesting combination of Outer Wilds and Super Mario Galaxy, more on the exploration side. I could not figure out how to take off. Holding Q just looks up and the little guy decided not to launch. I also tried aiming some other planets right above the character but still no luck.

After all, I really like the approach and can see a lot of potential in this.

The game looks good, reminds me of "A short hike" but without the relaxing, maybe thanks to the keyboard controls and my platforming abilities being really low haha. The graphics and music fits the mood. Nice work.

The game looks very well done! :-) The graphics is nice and the music fits the theme.

I didn't manage to leave the first moon: when I keep pressing Q, the jetpack starts, then it ends and nothing happens.

Game looks really good.

Did you do all of the art and modeling yourself?

Fit the theme really well.

Great job!

Developer(+1)

I did, I had a lot of fun trying to have sort of a Jet Set Radio Future meets PS2 aesthetic!

Love this concept and the look and feel.  The controls seemed a little  fussy.  Maybe I didn't totally figure them out.  I was playing on my gamepad.

If you like platformers, please try our game.

The aesthetic is super nice, and I love running around the different moons and the perspective! I only wish that it wasn't so easy to get stuck on things, I had to start over when I couldn't detach myself from a wall. I also would sometimes try to go for a normal jump, but it would trigger the double jump right away, which messed with me sometimes. Other than that it was a lot of fun!

Unfortunately I did not get very far. I was not able to handle the controls. Nevertheless a great game with very fitting music. Vell done!

Just finished it after a bit of difficulty (eventually picked up my controller, that helped), this game feels special!

Out of all the games I have played so far, this is probably the one that I would most want to play a full release of. The retro aesthetic fits the gameplay perfectly and the atmosphere you managed to create with the cute planetoids and weird octo-beings and spacey music just drew me in from the first moment. I will admit however, when it comes to the platforming, some issues need addressing: My character kept sticking to vertical surfaces such as walls and cliffs (which seems like a physics issue). Also I'm not sure if the double jump just has a hair trigger or if I was always releasing my jumps a tiny bit late but the lack of precise jump control did frustrate an otherwise very enjoyable experience. I felt the moonshot windup was a bit too long and I got caught releasing the button too early on many occasions (I also feel like the game should visibly 'lock in' your landing location in the preview so that the moonshot mechanic is more predictable perhaps). Using the second analogue stick to control the camera would also be much appreciated.

Please consider addressing these issues, this game really deserves to be fixed!

Thank you so much for playing! Thanks for the positive feels for the retro aesthetic! I had a lot of fun playing with the looks of the game.

I very much agree with your criticisms on the platforming. I tried to increase the coyote time but I realize the way I check whether the character is on the ground just needs some improvement. The sticking to vertical surfaces I noticed as well, though couldn't fix in time. I certainly should have taken those issues more seriously early in development. Additional camera control also would have been a very good addition, I just got used to the current control and did not have enough outside testing, which is my bad.

I tried to put in some time in the moonshot's reading, though I think I kind of took the wrong approach to camera there. I'm thinking now I should have had a 1-2-3 countdown and should have kept the player in frame the whole animation. Thank you for the feedback though, and really thank you for playing!

I really like the graphics and the sound.  I had a really hard time with the controls on a keyboard though.  (Got stuck in a crater.)  I did see your recommendation to use a controller, but I haven't got one.  :-(

Developer

Absolutely understandable, I didn't test with keyboard until the last day and I see I'm paying for that. I'll do better next jam!

I made it back home, yay! I didn’t get all the coins and only one missing fuel but it was fun. Cool concept and great space atmosphere. I really like the exploration experience and boost progression, also loved the tiny planet :P. I had a bit of trouble with the control though because the fast camera movement and getting stuck in some places. But I had a great time playing it overall. Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing it through! I absolutely agree with the camera, it's something I became all too used to during development. Initially I meant to come back and refine it, and add a free-cam mode, but it seemed less and less important. Really shows the importance of testers during development! Again, thank you so much!

Love the concept and the world has a lot of potential- the unique moons really invokes a sense of exploration. My only comment might be that the movement feels a bit hard to control- any way to adjust the camera without moving the character, or finer-tuned movement would be great. As it is, this is a great foundation for a game! Reminds me a little of outer wilds. c:
