I was not expecting to be throwing cats and dogs off a roof but here I am. The artwork is very memorable and makes this a fun goofy game. The integration of the leaderboard is also a really nice touch.

I spent far too long getting the high score.

Nice entry!

Loved the game (though my cat was less of a fan). Really great job! Great interpretation of the theme. I also love that there was a leaderboard. Currently ranked 4th! We will see how long that lasts.

Again, great job!

Funny interpretation of the cliché, I'm glad you didn't punish players for every miss, because I would have gotten a negative score. Nice entry!

Really fun game, good job

What a cool game! I really enjoyed throwing the cats and dogs and the sound fx are great!

Developer

sfx were mostly off the unity asset store over various bundles i've built up since I started with unity in 2020.

Very stylish and funny game!

That's a flashback to early 2000s flash games and a 2000s' iconic cartoon named Masyanya (check it out on youtube!) hilarious and wacky in a good way :) Gameplay wise I didn't feel it very much though  But good job anyway! it feels polished enough and the leaderboard was a nice touch

This is 5/5 for theme interpretation xD I think its definitely the most novel way of re-using a cliche that I have come across in the jam so far! I also really appreciate that it looks like you've entirely done the artwork yourself and drawn everything by hand/mouse so well done there too. I love the fact that you have a leaderboard as well - I think I'm in position #53 so there are people playing this game that are way better than me! What did you use to implement your leaderboard? I'm looking for a solution for my own game. Great, dark, entry - well done!

I set up a MySQL database on my web server and then created 3 PHP script endpoints to query the database and return the information in JSON format. This was then read by an HTTPget request from within unity and strings printed into their associated container locations.
Pretty simple really.
If you have a look in my repo Raining-Cats-and-Dogs/Assets/PHP files for Leaderboard at main · Skuzzle-UK/Raining-Cats-and-Dogs (github.com) this is a direct link to the php files and the leaderboard scripts and scene are in here Raining-Cats-and-Dogs/Assets/Scenes/Leaderboard at main · Skuzzle-UK/Raining-Cats-and-Dogs (github.com).

Fun and silly little game! Unique art style and very literal interpretation of the them. I'm sure that's not what people have in mind when they use this cliche but from now on that will be my interpretation :P

Nice job! I like how you integrated the cliche phrase into the gameplay, and especially like that you involved the family in the game design.

Submitted

This is one of those ideas that you just go 'guess this is happening'.

Aw man, so cute you made this with the fam. Make sure to tell her I loved the illustrations and that she should keep drawing!

This funny game brings me joy! The cat is so cute hahaha~

You've got my daughter to blame for that. I took inspiration from the Beavis and Butthead mini game Hock-A-Loogie, coded the mechanics and let the child go mad with a drawing tablet and Krita.

awesome! Love the art and playthrough.  Getting a leaderboard set up is was such a cool addition - great work!

Developer

I spent more time on the leaderboard than any other part of the game. It felt like a requirement.

Animal abuse aside this is very well done.
Like said below, jealous of the leaderboard, that looks just amazing and is something I would never have thought of to put in a jam game.

Also happy that my 1st try was good enough for 8th place ;P

Well done !

Disclaimer: No cats were harmed in the making of this game. Not sure I can say the same about the dogs though.

The art and the music really stood out for me. What a cool game!

I'm jealous of the high score board. This was a lot of fun... a little difficult to calibrate the force of my cat hurls. I really dig the style - your family did great!

Developer

Thank you.
The score board was one of the bits I was desperate to get right.
I went with using a MySQL database hosted on a server and then php scripts to get and submit the scores as JSON.

amazing experience ,

also the idea that the  family took part in the making of the game is too good!

great job

Developer

Thank you :) It was great fun putting this together and a fantastic learning experience for the kids.
