Cool game and I really liked your graphics and animations! Minimalistic but very beautiful. Somehow the web-monetization part did not work for me. I always had 3 ships independent on if Coil was paying or not.
Played this on stream. Check out the vod here for my thoughts. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007516720?t=00h27m34s
Thanks for your play-through and feedback, all fair comments on the game's shortcomings.
Sprite work and animations are my own ;p
It looks I have a bug with the crappy speech synthesis that was supposed to trigger every time the lead ship (the one with the yellow stripes) gets shot down to announce which wingman takes over command of the squadron (in itself pretty inconsequential to the gameplay).
neat little game! Some text was a little bit hard to read though. Some background music would have been great, but besides that, nice work!
Could not move my starships :(
Please reload the page another time. Itch.io's iframe in which the game runs interferes with key controls in ways I couldn't figure out during the jam, but on second page load it usually works.
Oh yeah ok it worked ! I enjoyed it, but I found that the mirror dimension could add something like bonuses only available in this dimension or something like that, but still, nice entry :D !
Neat shmup, with good gfx and an interesting mirror implementation.
I guess you could go further and add more mirror stuff.
Anyway, good job!
Glad you like it!
More interesting levels and bosses are definitively on my mind! I turned the game into an "infinite runner" to submit something playable when I run out of time.
I liked it, it's a fun take on the shoot 'em up genre!
The text-to-speech got me a little confused, I thought it was something else at first but I think I can see what you were going for. Too bad there's no music, that would've tied it all together!
Indeed! Glad you liked it!
I really like your game. I thought it was really fun, and I thought that you implemented the mirror theme well. I wish there was some background music and some other sound effects, though. Other than that, nice work!
I definitively missed an opportunity to team up with a music artist on this one ;p
The game is nice. Didn't get the purpose of that terrible google-voice. The texts are completely unreadable. But I like the gameplay. Haven't seen this mirror mechanics in other games on the jam
The speech synthesis was an experiment to add some narration. You're right I should have cut it off, given there is no music/sfx otherwise.
Thanks for bringing up the text legibility issue. I have an idea why, I'll fix it after the jam reopens game updates.
Check out my game btw. Need a bit more ppl to rate that u know
I do intend to rate all the games before judging and am working my way down the list of entries in need of more ratings, so I'll get to yours, don't worry!
The text garbled on google-chrome desktop but not in mobile. I like how it keep auto shooting when I play it in mobile screen. I think you should set the orientation to potrait in the itch.io settings since the desktop version clip the screen to potrait.
Love to read your review about LDtk after this jam over 🙂
Thanks for bring up the text legibility and orientation issue. I've updated the later (I don't know why Itch.io thinks it's a good idea to use landscape on mobile by default ;p)
A very fun game! I liked the mechanic where the game gets mirrored and you had to rethink the controls : ) the graphics are great, too ! maybe you could add some background music in the future : )
Nice use of the flipped controls for the theme. The graphics are also great! Some of the text in the title screen was distorted for me, and whenever one of my ships was destroyed, the audio that I think is meant to play next is delayed by quite a few seconds, but these were very minor issues.
Really liked the design of the alien ships - and the spin on them was well animated!
The disorientation from the controls reversing every few seconds was a fun hurdle to overcome.
Good job
Nice twist on the classic space shooter. Only managed to score 600 though, as I lose ships early every time.
