Wow! This was a very late, very interesting find!!
It's a hell of a big project, and I think you've done quite a good job at it. As others have mentioned, an intro / tutorial level would make it much clearer. Found myself not too sure what I was supposed to do and very confused about certain things, such as adding a building and then the building disappearing as soon as i clicked somewhere else? Not sure if bug or feature, to be honest. I'm not an expert in the genre anyway, so that probably had a lot to do. Visuals and UI would, of course, need some working on, but considering the scope, it's quite amazing!
Wow, it's insane the size and amout of work you've put into it! Congratz!
At least for me was a bit hard to get into it at first, so an intro level would be cool.
Besides that working on the visuals/UI would make the game much more apealing. Keep up the work!
I admire the scale of the project and the work, looks promising.
Interestingly for me, I found it hard to figure out what to do and how, and given I am trying to review a lot of games, I gave up after a while.
I think a 'play and learn' level would be ideal. Thinking of your future users, they tend to have a specifically short attention span. That said, I get that for a Game Jam, time spent on tutorials is somewhat wasted.
Looking forward to seeing the next versions, added to my collection to see how you get on.
Thank you for providing the feedback. I agree with not having much time for each game, there are just so many submissions on this Jam. And also yes I wanted to have a tutorial level but came up short on time, but it is still on the list as a future addition.
Wow! That's a really large project! Pretty impressive!
I just got frustrated that, at least for me, the shields were worth nothing... if the lighting got to any of my structures, the thing got destroyed... maybe I didn't understand how to make them stronger?
But again, very impressive!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your honest feedback. The intent is that as the storm gets stronger (the longer you are surviving) the lightning is able to easily knock out the shields and the goal at that time is to have several bunkers that are spread out to keep from being wiped out.
Based on your feedback I will taking a look at the balance of storm/lightning damage to shield health and adjusting in a future build.
Great! But also keep in mind that I may be really bad at the game! lol
Awesome game anyway! I like it!
Cheers!
Pretty good for a 30 day jam!
My 2 cents for the UI: One thing I was missing that is common from most games like this is the preview of the building being placed. I think it is the confirmation that one is in 'placement mode' that I was really missing.
Keep it up! I think it could do well if you keep up the momentum after the jam :)
Thanks for playing the game and giving me your feedback. I completely agree, I had intention of having a build preview for adding buildings but did not get it implemented in time. I will have this added in a future build.
It's an interesting and unique entry for sure(From what I've seen so far!). I can tell by the story that this is also a labor of love, so keep working at it! :) Honestly, I had some issues finding the "How to Play" so things were a bit confusing the first time around, much easier once I found that button (you could probably stick it on the main menu!) :)
I appreciate the feedback. The how to play was kinda last minute as I didn't get to adding a tutorial as I was wanting. But will be adding that in the future.
daaum, you've got an amazing game going on in here. Your how to play was straight forward and I was easily able to understand the game play as I’ve played many rts games before. The only thing I’d really change a bit would be the UI, maybe a more colourful buttons better indicating what you can interact with? but asides from that i really love your game :D
Thank you for your input. I have a UI redesign planned on the future roadmap so I will keep your feedback in mind when I get there.
Really liked your game, I am not very good at it but still enjoyed playing . Like lightning effect apart from when it destroys my base lol. Keep on with . ill be watching this game progress.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Really good game. I think if you add more screenshots more people will play you game especially because you need to download it. Overall a fun and entertaining game.
Thank you for the feedback. I have added some screenshots and changed the project image as well.
I really like this game, the How to Play is clear, the gameplay is good.
Where I think it needs the most work is the UI, I would love to get in and modify it myself :)
I'd consolidate it all to the bottom of the screen, I'd use coloured text to make it more intuitive.
I don't play a lot of RTS but I'd play more of this if you make these changes.
You could do some really interesting things here too, like if you chop down trees or mine too fast the storms get stronger...
Thank you for the feedback. I will keep this in mind when I work on a UI redesign in a later build.
Really nice for a first game! I liked the lonely feel you managed to give the game through the dust effects and the impressive size of the map. I might suggest steering away from large walls of dialogue as tutorials, but I get that that probably wasn't your main concern. Nice job!
Thank you. You are correct the large wall of text was due to running out of time.
The graphics looks really nice. I had a hard time understanding the game properly, so it wasn't easy to survive for long, or expand out that much. But I'm glad a tutorial is planned, I'll keep an eye on the game :-)
I got a bit sad seeing how fast my buildings and shields got destroyed by the storm though :-(
Anyways, good job on the game, looking forward to see more about it :-)
Thank you for your feedback.
I really like the visuals, it took me a little while to figure out exactly how it worked. Can definitely see this being a game to watch in the future!
Thank you for the feedback. I have a tutorial planned to be added as I continue development.
Great idea, very ambitious! I loved the feel of it, can definitely see it going further. Would have benefitted from a bit more guidance on how the systems worked as it's quite hard to figure out from trial and errror.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I have a full tutorial system on my roadmap.
