This is really cool! I tried it after a long day at work and my brain is thus a bit melted and made it to level 6, lol. The music is spot on for the theme of the game. Will see if I can get to the end (unless it's endless) when my brain is back to normal.
PS. I think your in-game music was playing whilst you got your submission in - nice timing :)
Thanks! Indeed it was playing in my head in the last 10-15 mins before the deadline :D
Wow! its a hyper social game!!! i need play it on my cellphone right now hahaha
Its a mazing! the light ideia is.... i dont know, incredible!
Good job!!!
Thanks :)
This game is so good. It could work really well on mobile if you could figure out some simple mobile controls for it. Well done!
Thank you! I was also thinking about to port it to mobile, so I will definitely do some experiments with swipe controls.
Fun little memory game.. good job
Thanks :)
Such a great concept, I'm impressed.
Are levels randomly pre-created or procedurally generated?
Wow I loved the music and intro, well done :)
Thank you! :) Currently the it's a picture based map generation solution (I have bitmaps where I use the color of the pixels to place the start/path/exit tiles) but I might move to procedural in v2.
That's awesome :)
Wow Woww Wowww!!! AMAZING!! JUST AMAZING!!
Completely blown away. Deserves full rating in every aspect. The concept, the gameplay, the transitions, the music, just the right amount of difficulty, the tutorials, and the lit intro.
Enjoyed playing it to the fullest. Great job. 🙌
Thanks :)
I absolutely love this! Simple, polished and challenging. I see you’re getting a lot of praise. Well deserved!
thank you :)
This is a fantastic game, I can see myself playing this for a long time. No real suggestions as you have it quite polished up. I played this tonight on my livestream and if you would like to see my impressions as I played you can see it here
Thank you Metalstorm for the review during your stream! :)
To answer your question from the stream: the levels are randomly reordered before each start and generated from level layouts which are saved in bmp files.
This was awesome! Incredibly addictive. I love the idea, simple yet super effective. Congratulations also on wrapping everything up so nicely.
If I wanted to expand the project, I'd say work the gfx (though what you've done works really well already), and maybe add some more sense of progress. Maybe have 'waves' that you have to complete, and each new wave adds more difficulty, or even better new gameplay elements, such as power ups, special terrain (i.e. swamp tiles that make you walk slower)... I can totally imagine this evolving. :) Great work in any case!
Thank you! I also have a few ideas about the levels changing over time/progress but still need to try out a few things before I decide :)
I will not add anything new to what others have said - simple, addictive and very visually attractive. Cool for me. I got hooked and got to level 11 :D
I love that moment of risk when the "light" has gone out, but you're pretty sure what was the path, so you take one step, and one more, and one more, and PUF, nope you were wrong! :P
For the future - I think more content. Someone compared your game to Flappy Bird, and I think there's a lot more potential here to add some more mechanics (but not too much, minimalism serves this game!).
Somewhere in the comment you wrote that you want randomly generated levels. I'm not convinced of that. I think there is room for an interesting level design that cannot be solved by randomness. I like the solution that is now - that randomness is to mix up the order of pre-designed levels.
The only serious drawback for me is the size of the window - I need a full screen: P
Good job!
Thanks for the feedback, I will consider your take on the level design. The procedural map generation would have a huge impact on the direction in which the game could go in v2, and because of this I start to think that I will stick with the manual level design + random order. And don't worry the next big version will have full screen :) (I had scale issues which I didn't had time to fix thus I decided to go windowed fix res).
Awesome little game, though I'm not very good at it. I played a few times, but only got 1 level. :) I think maybe I'm too stingy with using my reveal effect or waiting for it to charge. I think it would help if there was a sound effect that told me when it finished charging. Also an auto-reveal when you start a new level or lose a life would be nice, as it feels odd to have to still have to use my normal resources (time/charge) in that situation. In general, I love the game idea. I think it would work awesome integrated as a puzzle in a larger game, too. I thought the player piece itself could use a little animation -- if not a character or vehicle, then maybe some abstract goo or something? I realzie the attention and animation went to the board -- and rightfully so -- but it would have been nice to see a little juice on the player piece when moving. Congrats. And, of, is the theme SO on point in this game!
Thank you playing it and for your feedback, it's much appreciated! I really like your ideas (I also was already thinking about adding a more detailed player char with anims) so I will take them into consideration for the v2 :)
That level transition is $$$! Really cool concept you got here. I think you could easily add in power-ups that do all kinds of things like creating reference squares to make it easier to move when you don't have the vision active.
Awesome job! I'd keep playing for the music alone!
Thank you :) Power-ups are on my agenda for the upcoming versions ;)
Wow! The new flappy bird! You never want to stop! And it should be very good for the brain, I realized I could evolve more and more. I´ve reached 12 levels and I feel I can do many many more with time. Maybe colder color coud keep you playing even more. I just would like to know in which level I am during the game. The music is excelent! Very good job!
Thank you for your feedback! I had a level counter actually but I have removed it as it was cluttering the game UI at the time. :) but I'm also thinking about bring it back when I revamp the UI.
It's addictive. managed to get to level; 7. Not from running out of time though, keep dying. hahaha. Ton of fun and everything fits just right. Great job.
Thanks! :)
Awesome game! Simple and really well executed. Also very addicting. Great submission!
Thank you! :)
A simple, robust, enjoyable game loop. Bravo! One of the candidates for first place. Not only because it is actually playable, or fun, but also it is a clever, cheeky application of the jam's theme haha. Well done!
Thanks for the kind words :)
I have the memory of dory I guess, because I am trash at this game and I hate you for making me realize that lol.
Great game, everything was perfect especially the music. I enjoyed it a lot so I didn't yell much at the screen and kept trying again lol.
Awesome work.
I'm sorry that I made you realize this about your memory but I'm happy that you liked the game :D
Great game! Getting the simple movement to not be too fast when holding down the arrow button is on point. Audio and Visuals are also on point for what you're going for in my opinion.
I noticed the levels kept repeating after a certain point, but it's still a lot of different levels!
I'm glad you liked it! Good catch about the maps. Yes actually at the moment there are 10 maps randomly spawning after each cycle. I didn't create more then that as I was planning to do them procedurally anyway (which is still the plan for v2) :)
My favorite so far. Really solid execution. Graphics and SFX were on point. Also very addictive. Nice work!
Thank you! :)
Really nice idea. I used the bulb all the time to find my way around ;-)
Thanks! :)
