I really liked the mood, the horror style is really great.
the visuals are really good as well, great job!
btw if you can play the game that I made and give me some feedback I really appreciate it :)
Good start to an FPS, I played it tonight on my livestream so if you wanted to check that for my impression and feedback while I was playing it you can see the replay here
Thank you for playing and for the feedback!
Solid FPS. Nice visuals and music, but those sfx are awesome, specially the shriek that the succubi do when they die… terrific!
I kind of felt bad for the enemies, there was little they could do and I kind of saw the end coming. By the way, tripping over their corpses is a nice touch but I think it would be better to have collisions disabled once they die, as it hinders movement.
Really good game! Great work!
Thank you, I´m very glad you had some fun with the game. Thank you for the feedback.
First of all, I had no idea when the enemy would die, did I hit them, does headshoot take more damage.
But I absolutely loved the music and your choose of style. I enjoyed the game in a very comic but frighting sense.
I'm impressed and it was very fun to play :)
Thank you for the feedbak. I´m very glad you had fun wit the game!
This was alot of fun to play, Great submission.
Thank you!
OMG, this was so fun to play :D Probably because of the style and music is matching very much and the gameplay is very basic and fluid. What I didn't really get is how is this linked to the theme. Non the less, well done! I've added it to my collection for some retro fps time later :D
Thank you! Very glad you had some fun with the game. The theme gave me the idea that the player thinks from the begginning he is following the light, that will take him to freedom, but in the end he realizes that what is happenning is not what it seems. I agree that it is difficult to understand what I thought, though :-) next time I try something more simply connected to the theme. Thank you for playing!
I enjoyed the style. The monster designs were very cool, did you model them yourself? And the choice of music was...interesting!
Having said that, I think this could use a little balancing. It'd be nice if there was more variety in the enemies. They all seem to just move towards the player, what if there was a type of enemy that shot projectiles or strafed around the player? Or one that you can only kill with a knife?
I'm not really sure what this has to do with the theme.
Thank you for playing! And for the feedback. All the monsters are free assets from the Unit Store, but I´ve spent a lot of time making their movements. The variety of movements and ways to attack is a very good sugestion, I´ll work on that in the future. Thank you!
This was oddly fun.. I'm guessing the music was inspired by Fallout.. Nice variety of enemies.. Maybe work on the guns a little, my pistol stopped working after raining bullet hell down on those pesky critters. Got to about the third room with the flying dragons, then the pistol stopped working(probably ran out of ammo?). Good job.. My only real issue was that the music overlapped, so I had multiple tracks playing on top of each other.. still had tons of fun though..
Thank you for playing and for the feedback. I´m very glad that you had some fun with the game. I´ve already worked a lot with the songs to avoid the overlapping, but I have to improve the way to set them. The songs are inspired in the deadly sisns, I´ve searched for them in Internet Archive. I´ve already fixed the bullet issue in WebGL version.
ok, cool..
That music, and the way it changes with location, is great :).
For the time frame you've put a lot of elements together! Quite a number of different monster assets, for one.
Well done and bringing it all together, quite an achievement!
Yes, i`ve spent a lot of time with these monsters, and these songs were great findings, very funny. Thank you for playing!
I uh... what? What did I just play and why... why did I LOVE it??
This feels like a 13 year old boy in the body of a skilled game dev absolutely letting loose. Serious Serious Sam vibes. I mean both of those as compliments. This game was wild and I loved it. The music, the monsters.
The guns certainly need balancing to some degree. I kept to the pistol and clicked as fast as I could and got to the first room with flying dragons. At which point the pistol stopped registering clicks, stopped firing, and I only got one or two AK shots off before the dragons swarmed me and oneshot me. That felt pretty bad, but it was still a GREAT experience. Sharing this with a few friends, too.
Seriously - well done!
Thank you very much, CFHM! I´m gonna fix the guns issue, thank you for the feedback.
Original shooter! Good work!!
Thank you!
What an odd experience that was... liked the music & variety of enemies.
wasn't so keen on the wierd visual effect made my eyes quite sore.
Good job overall though an okay shooter.
Thank you for playing and for the feedback.
I thought the music choice was funny. I think this was an amazing effort for someone who wanted to practice newly developed skills. I liked the enemy NPCs, not sure if you created them or assets were externally sourced for free? Anyway, this has the beginnings of a fun little shooter and I'm sure in time you can improve on it. Though, a bit disappointed that I didn't see an effort to link to the jam's theme somehow.
Yes, the music is very funny. I spent a lot of time in the game, also because I am initiating, before and after the deadline, making improvements from the first feedbacks. The game´s got much better, it was worth participating to the jam! The enemies are all free assets found in Unity Asset Store. The inspiration was the jam´s theme: the idea is that you decide in the beginning to follow the light, what you think is your freedom, but in the end you realize it is not exactly what it seems.
Not sure if I'm playing Doom or Fallout...
I enjoyed the music choice. Fun shooter!
Great work!
Thank you!
I really like atmosphere, the enemys are relentless!
The combo music + art is a nice touch!
Yeah, some would say that maybe it needs more content but I know what it means to develop a game like this in such short time!
Bravo!
Thank you for playing the game and for the feedback!
Enjoyed the music, and I like the style of dungeon but I think the game needs a bit more variation.
I'm not a huge shooter fan though.
Yes, another person told me the same, it would be good to have more variations, maybe one more environment like a terrain, or other sets of environment objects. I planned to have more enemies, but this was what I could do in the time we had in this jam. Thank you for the feedback.
I think make some mobs move faster and some move slower, and make mobs move faster again when under half health :)
That forces the player to be more tactical.
Great work! The music combined with the dark theme reminded me the movie Jeepers Creepers.
I was afraid it was too dark, but I think I got it right at this point. I´m gonna look for this movie! Yes these songs were great findings. Thank you for the feedback!
Wow, that was fun - and disturbing! Got ganked by the first lot of dragons but the second time round I nailed it in 11 mins or so. Love the music - I searched the lyrics of one of them and couldn't even turn up the song 'come back to me darling ... think of the little one you feed'.
Was worried my onboard graphics wouldn't be able to hack it but I dropped my resolution to 720p and overclocked a bit and was good (GPU died last year - at about the worst possible time in computing history)
Btw I found a 'cheat mode' the third time round - if you rapidly swap between weapons you can fire instantly - a sortof John Woo mode. Get some, Satan!
Thank you! I'm glad that you had some fun with the game. I'm gonna fix the bug. And I'm going to improve the listening of songs during the game too. I liked a lot to search for these songs, some are really good and fun (despite of being considered evil nowadays).
Yeah it's fun to hunt for quirky out of copyright stuff. I'm pretty sure the paintings I used as backgrounds in my game are ancient enough.
And indeed - those songs were products of their time! Did enjoy the Uncle Sam song: 'based' as they say.
Can you upload a build? Right now all I see is the source.
Hi! The file JourneyToTheLightStandalone.zip contains only the executable game. Just extract and doble click JourneyToTheLight.exe. I've tested it in Windows, but it should work also in Linux and Mac.
Added the WebGL version, now you can play it in browser.
