Thank you so much! We are actually very happy about the outcome since this is our very first game. After a few life stuff holding me and my wife back gets resolved, we plan to make this into a full fledged game. My wife shouted loudly "100 levels!" so I have my work cut out for me... Anyways stay tuned ;)
Very nicely done actiony-puzzle platformer! It brought flashbacks of VVVVVV, combined with the old 8-bit games I used to play.
I adored the retro graphics and chiptune music. Very well done!
This was super fun and the music was great. I loved the level design it took me a couple of hits to work out you could dodge which was really nice. 5/5
I think the game had a fun mechanic and cool design! Some nice "easy puzzles" as well, I liked the retro feeling it gave.
Some feedback would be the Fuel gauge and HP is very hard to find, since they kind of melt in with the platforms. So maybe have like a darker background underneath them or something.
Also I think a tutorial level would be great for this kind of game, since I was wondering for a second why isn't the switching working, but I was standing on the red blocks, which I read afterwards from the description that it's not working there!
Great game though for a weeks work! :)
Thank you! It would be easy for me to make a tutorial and implement all the changes you mentioned. Reason I'm not doing them right away is that I'm waiting for the rating period to be over so I can work more on the game, it is going to be a full feature release :)
Retro feeling was what we wanted to go for so hearing that makes us really happy, especially my wife who did all the sprite art.
Again, thank you for your precious feedback and lovely comment!
Nice puzzles. I need to sacrifice some HP to solve the last one. Can it be done with full HP?
Hey, nice :D you also drew a pixel art portal for this jam! I think we might have even used the same reference art. Great job! This was fun to play and had a nice retro feel.
I'm so glad you liked it! Yeah I was clueless mostly of how to draw specific things in the start because of the theme. I have been busy with pixel art for a month now but it's so enjoyable and I'm learning a lot! I'm glad there was that portal reference material out there, every start is hard I suppose 😅 Thank you very much, we are so happy with your praise!
The game is nostalgic. You took me back to my childhood. Thank you for that!
Amazing game man, I cant believe this is your first published game, it looks super polished for only a 10 day jam, hope you keep up with making games with your wife! I have a playthrough if you want to check it out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC81SImIj53NmLMrIXvBsACw yours is session 2 and timestamp is 49:37
I truly enjoyed this game. The graphics, music, and sound all generated a nostalgic feeling for me. Someone else mentioned the Commodore 64 days, and while the graphics were a bit better, the sound was SID-like, and when the title screen and music started, and then game-play started, it felt like I stepped back in time and had just unboxed a new game for my trusty old C64 (which I still have along with a 1541 disk drive, LOL). I do hope you keep on developing this, I'll even give you a follow on itch. Keep up the great work! Nicely done.
I tried only web version but It was unplayable. I have fuel but can't normally change gravity. Top part of screen is almost invisible so on the second level I couldn't see collectable object in the right top corner (I saw only several pixels)
That is unusual. On all the devices we tested it defaults to 1280x720 and does not default to full screen. Could you send me a screenshot of how it looks on your end? I'd really appreciate that. Also did you try another browser than firefox? I mainly use firefox as well but none of the issues you mentioned have been apparent on my end. It also worked fine on my Ubuntu firefox as well.
Yes it works now. I also understood why I couldn't change gravity when had fuel. The red blocks don't allow to change gravity when you are in them. But it isn't obvious because you also used them as decoration... You shouldn't use it as decoration or you should emphasize it somewere in gameplay for example text label
It is a really great game, I loved it since the first try, very original, with it, with it I remembered the Commodore64 platform videogames, I enjoyed them very much. Don´t stop, it is the base for a 2d great platform adventures with the same idea, do you remember Mario Bross?, in the first versions of that game, you only flipped Cuppas, but the creator don´t stopped in his first game, he continued improving more Mario abilities. Your game is a great game idea, I am amazed!!
Cool mechanic, lead to some interesting puzzles, well done :)
Flipping gravity was oddly satisfying, the art feels like it belongs together, the music was great as well, the only peeve i had was that when i ran out of power i was stuck. Other than that I honestly think this feels finished. Fantastic work! :)
This is a nice cute simple entry, can see all the hand made art, feels really smooth to play, great job Couples Team!
Cool concept. I think the mechanics aren't communicated well enough.
Thank you for the feedback! I also agree that a tutorial introducing the mechanics would be useful for easier consumption, but what we wanted to go for in this one was the retro concept, which was a written manual.
The anti gravity tiles were not mentioned anywhere though and that's pretty much on me the coder :)
I appreciate the honesty!
Loved this puzzle game the music gave me a little tmnt on nes vibe the art was very good
Great job guys
Very well made. Some of the music and traversal made me think of VVVVV.
Thank you for the game!
