I wasn't really sure what to do when I saw the thing flickering, the story kind of stopped for me, I couldn't move anymore, I was quite enjoying it until I got trapped. Some Music / sound effects would have rounded this off perfectly!

Do you mean the part after you enter the portal? That's a cut scene and you have to press enter to advance the narration. Sorry if it wasn't super clear what to do! I wanted to implement timed hints to help prevent the player from getting stuck, but I ran out of time. I'm hoping to do voice over narration for the full version, though, so that will eliminate that problem. Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback!

I think so, there was a circle, but I couldn't get near it, or away from it, I will give it another go, thanks for the hint :)

Timed hint or narration could be super useful, at least at the beginning or when you introduce something new. I totally get running out of time, we were all in that boat :D

Oh, the circle is a guide. It keeps moving away from you until you reach the portal. You just have to follow it. :) Sorry, that definitely could have been clearer! Thanks again for the feedback. :)

ah! I think the lack of the grid/background up there didn't make it clear I was actually moving, which is probably why I thought I was stuck. Really cool project, I am looking forward to seeing more from it.

Wow, this game is amazing!

I really was in the Flatrick's shoes. A simple story perfectly narrated!

Great design and narrative! I thought life in 2d would be hard, but I never considered life in 1d as well, that's gotta be a little rough. I really enjoyed playing!

cool game, love the way you've gave personality to the 2d space, the little story of flatrick and how it become a polygon 😄. Is quite minimalistic and well made, the narrative and effects gave a lot of character to the result. I'm curious what the future holds for Flatrick, great job! 🙌

Very nice, thanks for sharing.

Nice story and mechanics around the progression. I think there's a concept here that you could expand on into a full game. Perhaps an evolution into 3D and even a realisation then that being in 3D isn't necessarily better :)

Cool story and simple graphics, but some music and SFX are needed. But other than that pretty good game

The game was really simple and funny! It was a sort of life in a dimension that had inside two other ones of it, that was fantastic! Was you inspire from Flatland?

It would be nice if you want to carry on in the development, the story was good and now we’re curious to know the next pass ;D

Good start to a game, looking forward to seeing where you go with it.

I really enjoyed that, thank you for making it.

Love the story, Flatric is my hero! So sad that the game ended so quickly.

Nice little experience you've made. Great job! It's simple but I like your storytelling. I understand the time constraint, but it still ends too abruptly though. I wished it had a tiny bit more. Also, gamepad support almost works, it just needs a couple of buttons for advancing the story and jumping around. I'd love to see the follow-up to this. Oh, and music and sound effects will bring a lot of life to this.

It was a bit of a strange mechanic for me, but you were able to tell the story excellently.

Submitted

That was simple but the most unique game a played in this jam.

Lovely short story. Disappointed that it ended so quickly, but completely understand with the time limit! :)

One thing that I did have an small issue with, was that in the first level you didn't have restrictions or any guide where to go. I ended up thinking that you should follow the line, and went FAAAAAR until I was like "I'm done, I'll just go up a bit and see if there's anything there" :D Thankfully there was, BUT then I had to go aaaaalllll the way back for the portal! :D

Music and SFX would have made the game a lot better as well, at least some nice quiet background music would have fit it perfectly, to even more get the player into the story! :)

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! Yeah, I think it's a little flawed in that section as far as missing guidance or anything interesting to interact with to get you to go far enough away from the line to trigger the next part. I have some ideas on how to improve that when I get back to working on this. :) I'm also probably going to change it so you can't go on forever.

Heheh, I was legitimately disappointed when it ended so suddenly (a good sign - I was looking forward to more!). This one really embraced the theme harder than most, and had a compelling story! Great job!

A short game with a lot of strength in its story. Its a shame there is not more of it but be proud of what you have created! In the words of my old professor, "Mathematical"

Submitted

What a great approach to the theme. I was hoping I'd see a game about evolving through the geometric dimensions and you definitely didn't disappoint. Though the experience was short, it felt very polished and appropriate for the story beats. I just wish I could see where you were planning to take it next.

Cute game, was hoping there was more, but I loved the writing!

Cool game concept!  Sad to see it was so short, hopefully you add more to it in the future.  Good job!
