Oh, the circle is a guide. It keeps moving away from you until you reach the portal. You just have to follow it. :) Sorry, that definitely could have been clearer! Thanks again for the feedback. :)

Do you mean the part after you enter the portal? That's a cut scene and you have to press enter to advance the narration. Sorry if it wasn't super clear what to do! I wanted to implement timed hints to help prevent the player from getting stuck, but I ran out of time. I'm hoping to do voice over narration for the full version, though, so that will eliminate that problem. Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback!
This is really cute and the premise is fun! I also really enjoyed the punny title. One thing I noticed is that items often appear under the Queen's anger bar and it's hard to see them. It would also make things more interesting if the hedgehogs were a bit more varied. Otherwise, this is really well polished. Great work!
I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong, but I wasn't able to jump high enough to get over the obstacles or reach the power-ups. I tried both tapping and holding down the space bar. I wonder if this might be framerate related, because the game was also pretty jumpy for me. I don't know much about Godot, but I know in Unity, you sometimes have to adjust for the time in between frames to make sure character movement behaves the same regardless of the hardware the game is running on. I played in Chrome on a newer gaming PC with above average specs. Let me know if you want more information about my setup for debugging.
All of that said, I loved this concept! It really resonates with me and as a prototype, this is great. I would love to see how you develop it. :) I don't think it was working how you intended for me, although losing so fast did make it metaphorically resonant in a different way. lol Anyway, I see the potential here and kudos for a great idea!
This has potential, but the story is a little heavy handed. You have an interesting twist, but it doesn't have much impact when it is revealed so soon. I get the limitations of a 10 day game jam, though, and you definitely have an interesting concept that could be developed more. Hope you keep working on it. :)
That's a good question. I was wondering the same thing myself. I think you should do what works or makes sense for you, since it's your game. After the jam is over, I don't think you'd be obligated to preserve the jam version as is unless you want to. I'd be interested to hear what other people have to say about it, though, because this is also my first jam.
Wow! That was really creepy and fun. The cutscene at the beginning was well done, the music and art were nice (I especially loved the posters in the bedroom), and the part where you are looking for the last key was a nice challenge and genuinely scary. Would love it if there was more to interact with throughout the game other than hunting for keys, but I understand there is only so much you can do in 10 days. Great work! Hope you do more of this. :)
It looks like you uploaded the entire Unity project folder, but I don't see a Build folder in there. You need to build the game in the Unity Editor. It will prompt you to either select a folder or create a new one. You need to upload all of the files it creates in that folder, and only those files. Here's the page about creating builds from the official documentation: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/PublishingBuilds.html
There are also lots of tutorials out there if you search around. Best of luck!
Very simple, but well executed! The controls are responsive and have a good feel. I appreciate the well-put-together start menu. I did find I got stuck on the sides/corners of platforms occasionally, which could mean you need to add a no friction physics material, or it could have been something else to do with the physics/collision. Nice job overall!
Neat pong clone! Introducing a little randomness to the ball movement might make the game more interesting. It's possible to get into a position where the ball gets in a loop and you don't have to move and can just keep scoring. Still, nice implementation of a classic, complete with really satisfying retro sounds! Good job. :)
The environment and walking animation are nice, but there's not much to do. The only thing that seems to make anything happen is that when you touch a mirror the game freezes. I can see you worked hard on what is here but there's just not much to the game yet. :) Congrats on submitting your game, though!
The .sln and .csproj files won't help. You need to upload everything that is in the Build folder when you build the game. You might have named the folder something else. But you need to include all the files that are generated when you build the game. Let us know if you upload the full build and I'd be happy to give it a try!
Interesting concept! Some more guidance in the first section would have been helpful because it took me a while to figure out what to do. I didn't even realize I had picked up the camera at first, so maybe when you pick it up, a dialogue box could display saying "picked up camera, click to take photos" or something like that. It would also be helpful if you could move the game camera around without turning the character because it made moving around a little cumbersome and I got stuck on objects a lot. The second part with the changing gravity was pretty unique. I found it a little confusing and frustrating, though. The controls didn't respond until I pressed E and I'm not sure if that was intentional or a bug? The explanation of what to do was a bit confusing. It's still a really cool concept and I'd love to see you do more with it! The art style is really cute and I liked the music. Nice work!
Neat concept! It was fun. I do agree with what others have said that there should be some limit on the lightning ability to make it more challenging, maybe a cooldown? I also found that I couldn't click on the quit button on the end screen and I had to exit the game using the windows button and closing the window from the taskbar. Overall I think you have the start of a really interesting game! The controls were responsive and I think the story set up is really intriguing. And the music was effective at building tension. Nice job!
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! Yeah, I think it's a little flawed in that section as far as missing guidance or anything interesting to interact with to get you to go far enough away from the line to trigger the next part. I have some ideas on how to improve that when I get back to working on this. :) I'm also probably going to change it so you can't go on forever.
I have noticed that, and it's a shame, but I kind of get that some people would prefer to play games in a browser and not download files. I gave your game a try and left you some feedback and a rating.
Here's mine if you want to check it out. :) https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2023/rate/2093951
Neat concept! As others have mentioned, I had trouble with the platforms moving too fast. Could this have to do with frame rate? I'm not familiar with Unreal, but in Unity, if you don't adjust for frame rate, the movement of game objects can end up being way too fast or slow depending on the hardware it's running on. I really like the mechanics, though. Lots of potential if you decide to keep working on it. Great work! :)
Oh my goodness, this is great. The voice acting, the character saying the theme and then looking at the camera, brilliant. I had a hard time getting the hang of the gameplay, but I'm not very good at shooting games, so that might be a me problem. :) One suggestion for the web build, I would use something other than ESC for the pause screen, because that key also causes you to exit full screen mode in some browsers (I use Chrome). Great work!
I left you a comment and rating. :) Here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2023/rate/2093951
I rated yours already, here's mine. :) https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2023/rate/2093951
Your game is really cool! Here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2023/rate/2093951
Wow, this was really cool! Good job implementing the gameplay mechanics. It was challenging to play without being overwhelming. The metaphor of fighting inner demons was well done and I like how it was even reflected in the names of ability upgrades. One suggestion I have is maybe adding the ability to pause. Great game! :)
