I didn't use existing assets, apart from a few sound effects and a few interface graphic elements I had recently created for a previous game jam.

Try as I might, I can't get past the first big crab attack. It one-shots everything and can easily ignore the damage from turrets.
I like a lot of the concepts in the game, having different resources generated by different buildings (including health) makes the econ-based gameplay interesting. The tutorialization is well done except for one thing: At the very start of the game, if you build a shell collector and a turret first, you softlock yourself because you don't have enough snails to make a snail house. Ideally the snail house should be the only thing the player can make until they have at least one to avoid this from happening.
The upgrades are a great addition, however sometimes I'd get offered two of the same choice at a time.
Excellent, loved the gameplay like plants v zombies but with more charm. Pacing was good, not too hard at the start and lots of little upgrades along the way to make you feel like your making choices to suit your build. Well done!
I died horribly the first few times, but there's something about the game that made me stick to it. I finally found the strategy of building up the resource generation buildings and made it all the way to the big crab!
It might be the combination of the art style, the color palette, or the dopamine hit from seeing your resource production get faster, but this game kept me at it for a long time. Great fun!
I also liked how detailed your starting guide on the different building types was! Amazing entry, loved it!
Very nice game,
I'm a fan of gaining money and placing things down, and found myself practically always going for the economy upgrades which may have contributed to my downfall. (Maybe because the initial flow of money is also pretty rough)
The art looks very nice, and the snails are adorable.
I managed to get to wave 15 before the big boi steamrolled me.
Nice job :D
Nice game, had fun!
Took me a few tries, as I keep getting deadlock, where either the shell or the snail doesn't get produced at all. It would be nice to allow some player mistakes at the beginning, by providing more than enough, or a slow gradually increase or free shells and snails.
I really liked the art style of this game! I got a bit confused initially by the tutorial and the need for houses, but when I restarted and realised how the houses worked I had a lot of fun. I think the confusion is just because the buttons for the houses do not match what the buildings look like (unlike the buttons for turrets etc). I also had a bug once or twice where I got multiple of the same upgrade as choices (e.g. decoy health multiple times). It would also be nice if there was a check to prevent all three upgrades being for the same thing (e.g. 3 decoy upgrades). Very fun though and I found it hard to put down!
Enjoyed playing this game. Really like the whole vibe, a great take on a tower-defense like. The sprites are great and the music is fitting too. In the web version I had a bug where it froze the game after I closed the first message. After a refresh it worked.
Amazing that you managed to produce all this on your own within the given time frame. Very polished in general, good art and engaging gameplay as well.
This should have far more ratings, the pixel art is perfect and the gameplay is so clean. This is easily my favorite tower defense game I've seen in this jam so far, and I've seen quite a few. I genuinely hope you continue working on this one after the jam is over because I'd like to come back and check it out! Fantastic job!!
Crabs are the ultimate lifeform, as evidenced by carcinisation, which makes a snail's bravery even more impressive. The gameplay loop is engaging; I like it much more than traditional tower defense.
