Nice, that was a good game, liked the simple concept and especially the particular ways you made it fun, great job on it!

Developer

thanks very much for playing!

I had a lot of fun playing your game and was super happy to pass all 10 levels! Some narrow victories I had at the Athlete difficulty felt very satisfying. Towards the end levels I started using the black blocks in the background of the level to time the speed of the moving obstacle and I felt so clever when this proved to help me clear the last few obstacles I was struggling with.

Fantastic work!

Brilliant well done - and glad to hear you used the "5m markers" (aka the black blocks i added about 30min before submission :D), that's exactly the purpose - it was really hard to gauge anything with just the plain background.

Oh wow what a clutch addition at the finish line because those blocks were my lifesaver haha 😆

lol that was a great and fun game! I made it to level 7 before the computer beats me every time -- hahaha lol but great game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, really appreciate it - level 7s pretty damn good. Use the cheat (wait-o-meter) to help time the perfect run. I'll be giving your game a play tonight after dinner

I have the reactions of a mongoose! I can't believe I made it to level 10!
That was really fun, nice and easy to grasp ahold of the basics. Showing the times of each participant was really cool and I liked how sometimes it was about being slower than the opponent but there were other times that the opponent was too slow and was going to get hit so you had to be faster than them. Good game!

Developer

Well done indeed! Glad you noticed the CPU time variances. It's using a probability distribution which for the later levels tends toward 80-95% of the perfect time (so there's always the chance of beating it) with an occasional (10-15%) chance of it going to late. Thanks for playing, much appreciated :)

A very casual game. Some people may use it to decide who will pay dinner this time :D

Did you also draw the main capsule by yourself?

You gave me an idea for one of the puzzles for the current game I am developing (Dungeon of Astaroth). I think I will call it "dont be a chicken" in your honor

Developer

Excellent, thanks for playing - not sure about capsule - but the track and traps are basic models I made in Blender. The characters are from a Kenney.nl pack - my blender skills are very rusty (and to be honest weren't brilliant at their peak!).

Submitted

By capsule I mean the image of the chicken :).

Do not worry about your blender skills, keep practicing and things will magically improve. You did great by delivering something. That itself is a great achievement!

Developer

ahh, almost embarrassed to say that was a 2min request to Copilot for a cartoon chicken on a no-entry sign. :D

I expected actual chickens. But was happy to find that your implementation of the game of chicken was very fun. Couldn't get past #4 though. I just tried to be a split second behind him, but still got the bonk.

Developer

thanks for playing, much appreciated. if you're struggling you can use the 'cheat' button to give you a visual cue as to the perfect run time :)

I just played your game, I love it! I always apreciate creative ideas, and this is absolutly one of them! it is fun and pleasant :)

I would like to see how it looks if the UI was improved :)

Developer(+1)

Many thanks for playing -the graphics and UI are my weakest part (left them to last as well), so definitely could be improved upon :D

Submitted

Well, that is not so important since the game is so fun, I enjoyed playing it!

I will absolutly check it if you made an update, here I followed you :)

I was drawn in by the word "Chicken" because I have... chickens. Then, I realized it was a game of chicken!

I really like that it was unexpected in the way it presented the Jam theme of "Last Stand"

I did have trouble getting my little guy to move so that I would not get squished, but I still find the idea interesting and could see myself playing a polished version of this. Keep me updated!

Thanks for the feedback, you can use the 'Cheat' button to give you a  meter that shows how much time you've got - makes it less of a guessing a game :D
