I think it's impressive what your team achieved with  this one!

Here were some of my favourite things about it:

  • Upgrade stations with unlocks where you can spend the cash you earn
  • Aliens that look like they came out of Deep Rock Galactic
  • It being a 3D FPS and playing mostly well in the browser
  • Nice graphics and game design generally

Here were some things I thought could be improved:

  • Initially, the screen wasn't capturing my mouse which meant that I would scroll onto my other monitor
  • Sometimes enemies would be waiting on the other side of a door and immediately damage the player upon opening it
  • Performance started to degrade a fair bit when the boss fight progressed

When you consider it was a 10 day jam those are all really small things. Great submission - you all must be pretty pleased with it!

Developer

Hey there!

First of all thanks for playing our game and giving us valuable feedback. That's always the best for us. The graphics were very, very important to me and Emily and that's why we put a lot of time into it and day/night shifts as much as possible, so we really appreciate that feedback. :)

We also had the plan to make more variations of the guns, more upgrades but you know, GameJam, only ten days and a week with fulltime-job in between. :D

The Screen-Capture thing we've noticed aswell and also thought we fixed it but some people still seem to have the problem.
The Enemys behind the door I've noticed aswell but haven't had a deep talk with the programmer about that for now, since it's voting period but we definitly going to check that out.
For the performance problem we also uploaded a Windows version ( yes for Jam Games sometimes annoying to download etc)

But we really value the feedback and thank you again! :)
Wish you the best!

Wow, great entry! A little buggy in places, but it's clear that a great team can create amazing things =)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! This was my second Jam so far but this Team was just amazingly good and nice. We also sadly know about those bugs and I think 4-5 hours before deadline a lot of things broke but we still managed to do it the best way we could!

Thank you again for playing our little game. :)

Nice game! Liked how it all fit together, music, theme and aesthetics! Great work!

Developer

Thanks a lot. That means a lot to me and the team. We put a lot of sweat and hard work into it. :D

Graphics are really good! Very cool idea :) You’ve set the bar pretty high, but to make it even better I’d suggest:

  • making the music loop better
  • make enemy damaged and enemy death feedback more obvious

Really good project! Enjoyed it

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We were using Fmod for this project and we hoped to have dynamic music that shifted as you moved between more peaceful locations and more action-packed ones. Unfortunately, it just did not work out with WebGL and we had to pivot to Unity's much more barebones solution for music, making it feel more static. But I think we will go back to the dynamic solution and develop primarily for Windows if we keep going further with the project. Thanks for checking us out.

Submitted(+1)

Ah, that explains it! We’ve also had some issues with WebGL version of our game, but mostly with UI and performance

Cool game. I played the downloaded windows version. Very long and elaborate level for a game jam game.  A couple small things I noticed. After killing the purple enemies they still moved around a bit and I was not sure if they were dead or not. This was only an issue when several of them bunched up together. Also the green plants were not attacking me and I was just able to stand next to them and shoot them. Not sure if this was intended or not.

I really like how you are able to upgrade your weapons and armor. Really cool feature give the time frame for a game jam. Good job over all.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, glad you had a good time.

Really enjoyed this the graphics are great!

The music got a little repetitive for me.

liked the level design, I did hit my fair share of issues:

  • After encountering the boss I ran away (to see if I could find more loot) when meant that I had infinite spawns of enemies clipping through walls and doors, eventually trapping me on a door, killing me.
  • This lead to a weird state where the game looks like it though there was active enemies behind doors locking them for contamination.
  • I then proceeded through a blue door and it had not rendered (additive loading?) and I fell through the map

I had a great time with this and could see a bunch of different ways it could be expanded upon to make a full game.

Well done, congratulations and good luck in the jam <3

Thank you a lot for playing our little game. We had more levels planned and also wanted to spent more time with level design but as you know, it's a GameJam, a lot of us a new to this and a lot of stuff can go wrong during that time. After the votings are done we definitely going to polish it and maybe expand it a little bit :) so we will also definitely look into your feedback and try to solve these issues.

I wish you all the best :) and thanks again!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback, it helps a lot!

I would have liked to create more different music for the various phases of the gameplay but due to time limits I wasn't able to. We will definitely revisit the game and I will work on the music again to make it less ripetitive!

Developer(+1)

"After encountering the boss I ran away (to see if I could find more loot)"

the consequences of cowardice and greed

I'm just kidding. The doors are supposed to lock you in there with the big bad, but they are apparently run by a malevolent AI that lets players out sometimes to see things no player was ever meant to see. Really wish I had had more time to polish up the final boss encounter as I think it's the game's weak spot but the clock just simply ran out! Appreciate your bug report and for taking the time to give us a play :)

Dang, this is full on game!

Great job on this! I'm amazed how fleshed out the environment, enemies, and controls feel! This is an incredible entry for only having 10 days!

I think I would have liked having a little bit more feedback to help tell when my shots were hitting the enemies. I mostly was just spamming the fire button, hoping I was actually hitting them.

Other than that though, absolutely awesome game! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Dang! Thank you so much for playing our little Game! And thanks for all that positivity, my heart is melting.

We would've liked also a few things differently and more enhanced but... It's a GameJam, time is running faster than you expect it to be :D

But the team is really, really glad that you liked it. We put a lot of sweat and tears into it. (Yea people even worked when they had super bad weather conditions :D, they are all crazy)

Thanks a lot again and I wish you just the best.

Love the vibe of this game! With more polish, I think this will be really great!

Developer(+1)

Glad we were able to achieve the vibe we wanted to go for. That was definitely our main goal, besides 200 different things but most of it we were able to accomplish, even sometimes more than expected.

Thank you for playing it 🙌

Submitted(+1)

I have replayed it so many times. Brings me back to last year when I was grinding half life and doom... I love this man. Publish it as a whole game after the jam and put it on Steam!!!!!

Developer

Thank you so much, glad you enjoy

The athletics of this are amazing, but I wasn't really able to play it due to the mouse capture issue. I would love to try it again at some point in the future though!

Developer

I've tried to fix it in an update just now! Let me know if works better for you now, unfortunately I have not had this problem on my computer so it's very difficult to test for

Submitted(+2)

No, that totally makes sense! I did still get a little bit of the mouse capture issue, especially at the very beginning for some reason, but overall it seemed much better. I really liked the game mechanics, art, and overall sound design; it definitely had a really cool futuristic industrial vibe, and all the elements seemed to work together well. Really nice job!

I managed to clip out of the room where the first enemies spawn on the back right corner, awesome graphics tho!

Developer

That was happening to me all the time too. I pushed a hotfix now to help prevent this and hopefully put the challenge in the right place for it to be fun. The game is now playable from start to finish if you want to give it another go

Submitted(+1)

It seems like a good effort but the issue of mouse capture is a big problem, other than that it seems good.

For anyone playing this, the mouse isn't captured in the screen area so you can't turn your player around without going out of the screen. Pausing the game seems to fix this, but when you die you need to repeat this to get the mouse to focus in screen again.

Developer(+1)

I pushed a hotfix now that should improve mouse capture, I hope. I don't have this issue on my machine so it's very hard to test for. Let me know if it works better for you now. :)

Submitted(+1)

I tried to test it but it doesn't load, the bar just gets to near the end and just stops. I will try it again tomorrow when i wake up :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It does that for me too, I find most 3D Unity projects in WebGL do. It should finish up in a minute or two. There's also a Windows Build available fyi

Submitted(+1)

Webgl is a pain in general tbf, i tried it again but it took ages to load (i was downloading the other version which downloaded faster than the web version loaded lol), the non web version is good, i liked the art and the disintegrator was very nice good job.

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for your efforts but there are too many bugs. I hope you can solve them and we can enjoy your time and effort.

Developer

Too many bugs is kind of the theme we went with actually. But you're right. It was a bit disastrous. I pushed a hotfix now that takes care of the worst of it, you should be able to beat the game now if you're quick enough. Thanks for giving the game a chance
