I loved the noir art style, the character designs, the music, the environment and the animations! The move set is interesting, too. My favourite was the crash bandicoot spin :D

Nice submission!

This is really impressive for  a game jam submission. I think it had a decent level of polish across the board. Well done!

Nice submission! It has all the core things a good game should have (decent music, SFX, nice models etc). I particularly liked the shield bash attack. As others have suggested, it'd be great to keep working on it. Good job

Really cool! I loved how large the world was and how much was in it. The environment looked really great. The helicopter controls were good but I did find the mouse sensitivity a little high. Great work!

The design, mechanics and story really stood out for this one. A great example that text-based games are still fun even today. Great submission!

I really love the mechanics in this one! It's very DnD-esque with the dice rolls and turn based combat. The drag and drop interface was well designed and versatile. The class and enemy variety was also impressive. The assets used were well chosen and utilised. Great submission!

Really cool submission!

Some of the good things that stood out to me were:

  • Having a mini-map that's pretty neat for a game jam game
  • The artwork, aesthetic and general retro style
  • The music (although some variety would be even better)
  • SFX were solid
  • The level design was incredible and the volume of levels
  • The credits screen was also really good

I think being able to see the odds when you get into a fight might be a nice feature for the future. Maybe even introducing flee mechanics with probabilities, too.

Great work!

Thanks for playing. You're absolutely right about the damage feedback. What little SFX there is was created and added in the final hours before submission :D

If I had more time I'd have definitely added that one

Nice submission! It's polished with simple mechanics done well. Frustrating (in a good way) and  pretty addictive (I had to finish it). For most of the game I fooled myself into thinking I should base my clicks off of the NPC, but actually you should use the markers on the background!

Great work!

Thanks for playing - I appreciate the kind words!

Nice submission! It's simple mechanics but fun and addictive. The power ups were cool! If you keep working on it, I think being able to jump would be a nice enhancement

Tell me, what's the kid going to spend all the money on?

This was fun, challenging and addictive!

Here were some of my favourite things:

  • Good use of assets - the animal outfits are cute
  • Being able to yeet children across the sceen
  • It's a really unique and fun take on the theme
  • The enemy movements really added to the challenge and varied quite a lot
  • The use of static and moving obstacles

Here's some constructive feedback:

  • The difficulty seemed relatively consistent throughout - it started off quite tricky and remained so up to the stand
  • The audio is super low to the point that I originally thought you didn't have music or SFX. I only realised because I saw you listed them on "existing assets". That's when I cranked the volume up a ton. There's no way to do this in-game either
  • Feature request: I'd love to have a kick ability with a cooldown to occasionally yeet the kids without losing

Great submission, well done!

Congrats on your first jam submission! Also, thanks for the stream the other day.

Here's some of the things I really liked about the game:

  • Moving while shooting/being able to move around generally
  • Having an upgrade system with some variety to choose from
  • The animations on the enemies were cool (blinking and boosters)
  • All the core pieces were there (SFX, music, art and mechanics) which gave it a finished feel

I think these small enhancements are worth considering:

  • A custom reticle for the mouse cursor
  • Maybe separating the upgrades purchase from the win condition, and having the upgrade window automatically appear and pause giving you choices
  • Varying the pitch of the shooting sound

It was a fun and solid submission, nice work!

Thanks for the kind feedback. I did check out your game and found it to be really fun!

A really charming and cute game, with crisp and responsive controls. The artwork was also beautiful. Great submission - well done!

This was awesome!

My favourite aspects were:

  • Great level layout and design (the staircase was especially cool)
  • The music was great. Did your team make it?
  • The variety of abilities available to unlock
  • The enemy variety was decent if you explore enough to find them
  • Frisby is MVP
  • The story was cool and unique it's like System Shock: Dungeon Edition
  • Having such a stable web build for a 3D game like this is impressive

Some really small things I think would make it even  better:

  • Name the abilities when you unlock them rather than keeping them as question marks
  • It would be cool to have a heavy version of the standard melee attack by holding left mouse for extra damage
  • I think a horizontal health bar that's centred at the bottom of the screen might work better

I had a blast, great submission!

I think maybe my best bet with static spike traps is to maybe introduce a small collider on the bottom section so that if you're running into them without jumping, you just hit a wall. Then if you jump onto them you take damage. That, paired with some SFX to better indicate taking damage would probably be a big improvement. Thanks for both of your input!

I had a lot of fun with this one. Here are some of the things I liked the most:

  • The artwork - I thought it was really polished - especially for the characters and the vehicle
  • The exploration aspect of the game - necessitated by dwindling resources
  • The enemy sounds - which I found hilarious

From the layout of the vehicle, it looked like you considered other survival metrics like sleep or training at the gym? Or maybe they were just there to set the scene. Either way, that was cool, too.

Nice work!

Thanks for the kind feedback! I'd have loved to dig even deeper into Metroidvania territory but I just didn't have the time

Thanks for trying it out!

A really unique take on the theme! I especially enjoyed the artwork and music - nice submission!

Thanks for checking the game out and I appreciate the feedback! I'll be sure to check your game out before the rating window is up. I'm gonna play a bunch of download only ones including yours tomorrow when I set up my VM :)

Nice submission!
Some things I really liked about it:

  • Being able to choose from two different player characters
  • The weapon variety
  • Tutorial/training area
  • Nice artwork and animation

Good work

This was pretty fun when I got the hang of the controls. My default is to lean on WASD but that's pretty much impossible with the sword and bow controls (arrow keys are the way to go for this one). The enemy variety was cool and the platformer aspects weaved into it was a unique touch. Nice submission!

Incredible! Very impressive and enjoyable to play. There were so many things I liked that I won't go into all of them but I was especially impressed with the variety in enemy types, envoys, blessings and projectiles. Fantastic submission, well done!

An interesting concept and well executed too. Nice submission!

That was really fun! The sword's the way to go

On my first playthrough it took me a while to realise I had 5 dodos so it might be better to centre the camera by default. Nice submission

I  think the concept is really cool. One thing I wished for was to be able to attack the mobs as well as build - maybe that would be a cool enhancement for the future. Nice submission

Well done for submitting! It's definitely better to get something out there (especially in this game since there's a free course) even if it's not fully finished. The bits you did get done work really well. Before getting enemies done, might I suggest looking into static traps as that's usually easier to get going with. Best of luck with your future games

I really liked the background/story for this one, and being able to hide as an object was a funny and interesting ability. Nice submission

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad the checkpoints quelled the desire to rage quit lol

I love the concept, design and the artwork! It was a bit slow for me to begin with but after some upgrades it became really fun. Great submission!

Thanks for checking out the game. I really enjoyed yours, too!

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback :)
I definitely would've liked to have gotten more SFX in but ran out of time. I'll try and leave more time for SFX on the next jam!

I think it's impressive what your team achieved with  this one!

Here were some of my favourite things about it:

  • Upgrade stations with unlocks where you can spend the cash you earn
  • Aliens that look like they came out of Deep Rock Galactic
  • It being a 3D FPS and playing mostly well in the browser
  • Nice graphics and game design generally

Here were some things I thought could be improved:

  • Initially, the screen wasn't capturing my mouse which meant that I would scroll onto my other monitor
  • Sometimes enemies would be waiting on the other side of a door and immediately damage the player upon opening it
  • Performance started to degrade a fair bit when the boss fight progressed

When you consider it was a 10 day jam those are all really small things. Great submission - you all must be pretty pleased with it!

Nice submission!

Here are some things I particularly liked:

  • Good choice and use of (assets art, SFX and music)
  • Cool combo system
  • A really nice and well written game page
  • Levelling system
  • A mix of challenges (standard enemy, boss and hazards/traps)
  • Having a decent tutorial

Here are a couple of things I think could be improved:

  • Being able to fully skip the tutorial on replays (maybe a checkpoint after the tutorial could do that)
  • Making it clearer that you can and should level up before facing the boss

Overall, great job :)

Add me to the list of people really impressed by the opening cutscene!

Here's a list of what I thought was great:

  • The artwork as a whole, but especially the cut scene and animated menus (like the game over screen)
  • The voice acting and SFX
  • You made the music? That was also really good
  • The story telling - it was really immersive
  • The general uniqueness of the game - I already mentioned the cutscene but you won't find that in a whole lot of game jam submissions

Here's what I thought could use some improvement:

  • The controls didn't feel very responsive and it felt immediately very difficult
  • I'd consider making player direction independent from move direction and link it to where the reticle is. That way you can more easily move and shoot

Great submission! I'm seriously blown away by the positive aspects

Good suggestions - I'll look into some of them post-jam. There is a dash ability in the game already, and it recently got fixed

Thanks for checking it out :)

Thanks for the kind feedback. It sounds like that might be the start of the game. I'll give you a hint in case you want to circle back and see more. There's an ability you unlock at the very start (from the person on your left) and it can be used to break some objects so you can continue. I had to put some kind of block there otherwise people could wander off without having an offensive ability and that would lead to frustration pretty quickly! I expect I could have designed that a little better, though
