I really enjoyed this game, the dialogue is charming, and there's something unique and fun about it - really great job on it!

Developer

Thank you! We’re glad that you gave it a shot :)

fun game, on the webgl version it freezes when there are a lot of enemies. maybe try to add the enemies to a pooling system?

I am a total beginner to game dev, but when I checked a little bit on this stuff, it's probably not so easy as you say it is to do something like this, especially for web but even just anyway. I guess though it might depend what the enemies are, how many of them there are and some other things.

I hope you will continue to work on the game . Even after the Jam.

One of the improvements that I’ve had in my mind is to reduce AI update frequency (including navigation) relatively to amount of enemies and have these updates slightly offset so they dont all spike the same second… But haven’t done any research on best practices yet. Thanks for playing the game!

Very nice! That escalated quickly :D Great work!

Very FUN and UNIQUE idea on this game! AWESOME WORK!!! GREAT ART!!! NICE MECHANICS!!! This was a fun challenging game. Loved it.

Love the mix of tower defense and survivor games :D
Soundeffects are very fitting! And it's a clever idea to use the "fact" that cats are scared of cucumbers  :D

Once I reached a certain amount of enemies the fps tanked so unfortunately I had to stop playing.

But I had a blast nevertheless! :-)

WOW! The sound design on this is SOOOO lovely, super cute! Keep making games :)

Great use of sound effects, they remind me of puppy cat. Shiny cards deserve a chef's kiss. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Hahaha what a great and random idea, loved the shiny card effect, props to whoever did that

Developer(+1)

I probably should have spent limited jam time on something more important… but I wanted shiny ✨

this is the way

At last, the lore behind why cats are so afraid of pickles. Makes total sense. Heartless destroyers of peaceful box villages.

It's an addictive, snappy loop! Tower defense / village management has always seemed like the obvious addition to the Vampire Survivors formula in my opinion, don't know why I haven't seen it attempted until meow.

The memes were true all along! Thanks for playing and for your honest feedback!

I liked it, I had fun but got caress and died at some point. Cool!

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game!

Such a fun game. I was too lazy to install the desktop version and therefore needed to stop playing in some point, because the browser version became unplayable and incredible laggy with more enemies. But you already wrote that as a remark under the embedded game. If I didn't have to stop due to that I would've also played it a bit longer, because it was real fun. And it even looks like there is more potential/ideas, since a couple of boxes didn't have a real functionality yet. Can't wait.

Good job!

Thank you for taking time playing and writing a thorough review :) Next time definitely I will playtest browser version more!

Also I wanted to say that I really like the graphics. The kitten (at least in the start screen) look self drawn, but in a cute way. I adore this!

Enjoyable game. Yeah, there are some issues that need to be ironed out, but very playable, looks and sounds great. Loved the cats vs. cucumbers concept. Maybe that's what my cats are having nightmares about when I see them twitching while they're sleeping? Nice job.

Developer

Thanks a bunch for playing and for your kind words! Glad you enjoyed the cats vs. cucumbers concept – it could really be what cats dream about! 😹

Cute and fun, but had some frame rate issues after a few waves! Love the cats vs cucumbers lmao

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed the cats vs. cucumbers theme! 😺

I killed every cucumber ever, at a glorious 5fps XD

This was a nice one. I especially liked that scrolling intro actually! In my second attempt, I did notice that the uncollected coins from the first attempt were still on the field, and that buying things didn't actually subtract the coins from my total. It wasn't long before I had a hundred guard-kitties roaming around the town, but that was funny in and of itself. Cool game!

Developer

Haha, thanks for the entertaining feedback! Glad you enjoyed the game and the scrolling intro. Hundred guard-kitties chaotically roaming around is definitely by design! 😸

I've seen templates like this used more often for story driven, casual RPG. You gave it some action. Nice. I was really curious to know what the clicking sound was feedback for -- there was such chaos. Is it striking the enemy gherkins, is it the gherkins striking the cardboard boxes?

It definitely played better in desktop, but it still was hitting lags as the enemy wave and the friendly cat count started ticking up.

Developer

Thanks a bunch for playing and for your insightful feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the action twist. The clicking sound was indeed meant for striking the enemy gherkins (had to google that word haha) 😸😸 Your input is super helpful!

GameDev.tv is the only reason I know gherkin, courgette and aubergine, too, when they were building Glitch Garden. 🥒 🍆

Lots of fun.
For a first game this is really good.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your encouraging words!

It's a very cute game! like the infamous cat vs cucumber

but i did face some lags play the game and make its very slow the more wave are coming, but over all, i have really enjoy that

Developer(+1)

Thanks a ton for playing and for your kind words! I’m thrilled you enjoyed the cat vs. cucumber theme 😁

I loved the cat dialogue sound haha! It felt fast paced with the repair/fight cucumber cycle and it was fun! Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your wonderful feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the cat dialogue sound - we did it ourselves! Your kind words mean a lot to us!

I don't know what I just played, but it was quite something, had fun though!

Developer

Haha, glad you had fun, even if it was a bit of a wild ride! Thanks for giving it a go!
