I quite enjoyed this game, didn't make it to the boss as the levels in the dark became a little frustrating, but the concept,  art, and sfx were all great, good job! I'd definitely change the music per level, or perhaps after a set of levels in the completed project, maybe with a slightly different art theme? Sligthly different tiles/walls/triggers etc perhaps so you feel some sort of progression to a different area

hey! Thank you so much for your feedback! The soundtrack changes during the boss battle. If you want to check it out, you can go straight to the battle in the pause menu!

I like your suggestion of changing the theme and art from time to time. I will work on new levels after the jam, for I intend to release it on Play Store, and I will definitely have your suggestion in mind 😁

Thanks again!

puzzles were fun, boss was challenging yet also fun, and the pitfall traps mixed in with vampires turning into bats every time they hit the walls twice was clever. the only downside was it required me to use multiple keys, which felt less like a gameboy game, however on its own its still a VERY fun game

Developer

thank you so much for your feedback!

Could you explain a little better the multiple keys thing? I'm working on a full version of the game to be released on Play Store, so I would love to hear your suggestions to make the gameplay better... in my head it made sense: A to interact, B to shoot. How would you approach it?

About changing into bat form, I created invisible areas that switch their current form whenever they went through, and it was cool to learn your perception of this mechanics 😃

A to interact and B to shoot was absolutely fine, classic GB controls, not sure what they meant by using multiple keys

Cool game! The puzzles are simple and fun and it got that gameboy charm too! One small thing I thought was frustrating was having the pitfall traps not resetting after activating, since you can't go through you have to go back and hit the lever again and I kept forgetting to do that. But other than that it's a neat game, well done!

Hey! Thanks for your feedback!

That's true and it's something I have changed on the current build (which will not be updated until de end of the jam, of course). Now the traps have a timer that will reset them according to the level setting, I basically just implemented the same thing I did in the boss battle, where the traps do reset.

Thank you again, I will check you game too!

love the colors, game was pretty fun and i luv how the player character bobs their head left and right while walking, kinda like their grooving to the music ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡

That was a fun little game, definitely reminds me of oldschool games, and in a weird way kinda reminds me of games like Chips Challenge, and Startropics. Well done!

thank you so much!!

This was a very fun experience! Eric Cartman-esque head movements gave me a chuckle haha.

The puzzles were a little challenging, especially the ones that are in the dark. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the comment! The head bobbing wasn't a Eric Cartman reference, but now it is 😂😂😂😂

great job, this is awesome! I absolutely LOVE the sound effect on the lever, it's so chunky.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it, the crunchiness was hard to achieve, haha!

absolutely worth it though, it really sells the feeling of moving a giant stone lever

Fun GB-style gameplay, inspired palette choice, really nice solo project.

One thing I'd like to have seen is that the credits room had stairs which loop back to stage 1.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks, Michael! I didn't think of this loop idea and definitely will give it some thought after the jam :D
