Loved the graphics for this game, and the gameplay was quite interesting as well! Wish there would have been some adversity in the dungeon.
And I echo the sentiment of others that it is a bit difficult to understand where you are without looking at the minimap.
Good job! Hope you can work on it again! :)
It's a nice short dungeon crawler, but I really wish you could slightly see the neighbouring walls from your position. As it is it's impossible to see if you're standing in straight corridor or a crossroads without looking in all directions or checking the minimap.
I might update the way the game works in the future. I have implemented a slight fix to the map that I'll add after the jam, maybe I'll try to fix the issue you're having if I can figure out a good way to do so. Thanks for playing though!
Lovely graphics!
About gameplay I got addicted to watch the minimap. T_T
Thank you! It seems I do need to work on the map and the gameplay a bit. Thank you for playing though!
really nice art and perspective. I like the way the light is drawn on the dead end walls . like another comment said, yeah the minimap is overpowered. A very cool game :)
Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed some of it. I'll hopefully have a more interesting version in the future if you're ever in the neighborhood again! :)
Nice work, dude. Well done.
Thank you kind sir :)
I made a video of a playthrough on my channel.
Cool game, loved the visuals for the dungeon. Though as moori said I was mostly looking at the minimap as well :)
Maybe make the minimap something you can find in the dungeon, and add some spooky sounds when entering a certain tile for the first/fifth/nth time :) that would be a cool addition for spooky dungeon exploring to me!
Thanks for playing, I'm glad you were able to enjoy it in some capacity. I appreciate the good suggestions, I'll consider them in my next update :)
Great art! unfortunately, I found myself looking at the minimap most of the time
pretty fun game, i like the uniqe idea, i kinda widh that the end wasn't just a screen with text but the game is still cool
Yeah I would have liked to do a little more with the intro and the end of the game as well, but I ended up joining part way through the jam not realizing it had already started. Thanks for playing!
Great concept, and well made graphic, but I was distracted by the mini-map and looked almost always at it!
Thank you! And that seems to be a common problem. I actually recently made it so unless you've been to the tile, it won't show up on the map now. I imagine that will help with that part of the problem. I'll have to wait till after the jam to update it though I'm pretty sure. Thanks for playing!
Great entry! It could use some kind of variety, a jumpscare, an enemy, maybe something to avoid. But for 4 days work, impressive! Well done!
Thank you! And I agree, it does seem to be missing something. It's playable, but not very engaging. Thank you for giving it a shot!
Amazing graphics and clever use of perspective! The minimap kind of became a magnet for my eyes after a certain point because it's just so much more efficient. It would be interesting but perhaps more frustrating to not have a minimap and maybe guide the player through other visual or audio cues. I also think there could be more spooky things lurking in corners or dead ends where you don't expect it :^)
Thank you very much! And I agree, the minimap needs to be reworked, it reduced the gameplay to a 30x30 pixel area unfortunately. Great ideas on the traps and or spooky hidden things, I could try and find a way to incorporate those in to make it more fun. Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked what you saw!
A very nice entry. Has potential for a dungeon crawling rpg. I was navigating using the map, and missing out on the environment. Think balancing that, like, if it had traps I would have died for example. So one must look both the map and the maze in front.
Ooh that's a great idea, I'll have to see if I can implement that somehow. Maybe that's what the action button would be for, having to disable a trap before walking into it. Thanks for the suggestions, and thanks for playing!
Like the previous comment I played this almost exclusively using the mini-map, it felt a little overpowered haha. Other than that, great entry!
I've noticed that seems to be how I played it too. I feel like it's necessary to have, but maybe I could find a better way to implement it. Maybe you can only look at it when you pause, and then close it to walk around. Thanks for giving it a try and for the kind words, I'll check yours out when I have a chance!
Yeah, that’s a good idea. You could also maybe just highlight the tiles that are directly next to you. I admire what you got done in only the 4 days you had though!
I actually had a minimap in my game up until the very last minute, I found it took players out of the action a little too much.. including myself!
Nice game! It definitely can evolve into a full game. I hate jump scare games, so I played most of the time looking at the minimap, maybe it would be nice to think of a way to place it a little bit more to the play area (I know it's hard to design small interfaces). Some random noises along the maze would also be a nice touch for the spookiness!
that's a good idea, and my friend also suggested moving the minimap. I considered maybe making it so you had to pull it up with a menu in the middle of the screen, but haven't decided. Adding more sounds and other things could be fun too! Thanks for giving it a shot, I'll check out your game when I get home!
good job
Thank you! :)
