Thank you 😁

Thank you very much, I hope to continue working on it

Wow, thank you 😁 🙏

Thank you for the kind words, unfortunately the shortness was due to running out of time, I had several things set up, but not enough time to execute them due to spending way too much time doing the art and music lol
It's my first Jam, so didn't know how to best manage my time, next time it's game play first, pretty stuff second!
Thank for the bug too, I've already fixed the rock re-appearing and a few dialogue issues in the post-Jam version, but I hadn't noticed the ghosts reappearing after re-reading the tombstones, will go fix that now :D

Love it, mostly, great art, animations, atmosphere & music and I really like the concept and camera mechanic.
A great entry!
That being said I have to agree with others about the camera, it's made uneccessary by the glittering platforms, I had already jumped across 4 "invisible" platforms before I even thought to try the camera, wondering when I might have to shoot something down with a flash bulb lol (Great jump scare btw)
That and the jump is frustratingly small to the point I couldn't continue playing without possible having to break something due to repeatedly dying way too many times haha
It's a similar difficulty to something like Celeste, constantly dying and repeating sections, but you don't have the speed or excitement, so it quickly becomes not only frustrating, but a little boring.
I look forward to playing a post-Jam version with a few tweaks.

I look forward to playing the full experience 🙂

I like the concept and quite enjoyed the gameplay, the artwork is good too.
It is a little too hard for me to enjoy enough to continue playing, I couldn't get past the first boss, even after reading the hints, would have liked a little longer playing the regular game before getting there to be honest, to have more of a chance to get to grips with controlling the character.
I'd also recommend some grammar checks for the writing.
But it definitely shows promise and with a little more work I can see it being a fun game!

Thank you for your interest :)
I hope to work on it more soon, once the GBJam12 has ended and will make it downloadable then, it's also currently playable with touchscreen controls on phone in browser for an on the go experience.

(1 edit)

As someone else mentioned already, I don't believe you are told that you've been given a piece after completing the harp section, you just comment that it's a lovely piece of music and move on. I also found the E&B first before even talking to the daughter, so she just took it the first time I interracted with her and she gave me her piece, it wasn't till the end of the game I realised who it was, needs to be a way of stopping us getting the E&B until after talking to her, or having her initial conversation play out even if we have found those items so that it makes sense.

5/5 for every category, this is a great little game!
The only let down for me was the ending, I feel like we should have been given some kind of choice, two endings perhaps? Or had more of a active role in the last moments, having it play out and complete it automatically for you was a little lackluster and dissapointing after being so involved in doing everything else.
But otherwise an incredibly solid entry, loved the art, the gameplay, the puzzles, narrative, concept and especially the music.

Awesome job guys!

This game is a masterpiece! The engaging dialogue, the rich narrative and  the soaring score! They're all amazing dude Haha
Seriously though, I love your pixel art and your tutorials for Asperite and GBStudio have helped me loads and I've just made my first game in GBStudio for GBJam12 thanks to your Youtube tutorials.
You're awesome man ;)

I like the art style and simple music, it works perfectly for this type of game.
The controls are a little slippery and sometimes collision boxes seem to be a bit unforgiving, some tight corners.
At first it's not very obvious what is the floor and what isn't, you have to die a few times to work out what's going on visually lol
But fortunately you don't have to restart more than a single screen.
A frustrating and challenging game, mainly due to difficult handeling, but not so much that you don't want to continuie playing.
Overall, I quite enjoyed it, a good entry!

An interesting entry, I have to admit I got stuck very quickly, I didn't understand that the first section was a tutorial at all and couldn't figure out what I was meant to do lol
I feel simple text would have been more instructive and straight forward, maybe that's just me?
After figuring that out I found the mechanic really unique and enjoyed the game.
Nice art and sfx too!

Nice, well the game certainly isn't empty like my soul XD

I enjoyed this, I like the dialogue, gameplay and the sfx are great, I actually like the idea of making you slow to up the fear factor. I don't know if it was a conscious choice to not have music or you just didn't have time, but the lack of music actually adds to the atmosphere in this game, rather than detracts.
I was only able to get the normal ending and death after four attempts haha But still enjoyed it

I did wonder if anyone had found him, you're the first to mention anything about him XD
Thank you! Really appreciate the kind comments

Thank you very much :D

10430 pts... Is that good? I don't know, but I enjoyed it to completion :D
I really liked the variation with the three characters and the artwork, something about the game reminded me of Atari era platformers, not sure what, but I really liked it.
Solid music, sfx and theme too.

Unfortunately I couldn't pass the first pit... Pressed control, turned into a bat and was unable to move, quickly turned back into Dracula and then couldn't turn into a bat again after that, so I was stuck in the pit. I restarted the game twice with the exact same results :/
(On Mac using Firefox)

I quite enjoyed this game, didn't make it to the boss as the levels in the dark became a little frustrating, but the concept,  art, and sfx were all great, good job! I'd definitely change the music per level, or perhaps after a set of levels in the completed project, maybe with a slightly different art theme? Sligthly different tiles/walls/triggers etc perhaps so you feel some sort of progression to a different area

A to interact and B to shoot was absolutely fine, classic GB controls, not sure what they meant by using multiple keys

Really like the art, shame about the lack of music, but the gameplay is quite fun... My only question is, why is she so heavy? Is she made of stone? lol

It was quite spooky and I like the art style, the music felt a bit off for a gameboy game.
Unfortunately all I did was walk around a poorly lit house for five minutes and only saw the reaper once and escaped him with ease. I found doors, but no keys.
Unfortuntely, despite the interesting concept,  it wasn't actually very entertaining to play as the hunted.
Hunter was more entertaining, but not very challenging.

Fun dialougue and graphics, would be nice if it was a little quicker or if more than one customer came in at a time, perhaps even a time limit to serve each to add a little confusion etc perhaps some talk longer than others, eating into the time left to serve other patrons, but a good submition for the Jam

This was great, fun, a little scary, amusing and nice to look at!
Great work!

That was fun, not sure if you're able to lose? But I won first try! :D
I really like the mechanic of the spinning target, gets quite tricky once you pick up a lot of speed lol
Great concept for a game, could easily just make a series of these levels, like a pinball game, would be cool to extend the screen too to give more height and variation for other levels, they could just get taller/wider with each level to make it more difficult.
Would probably keep me entertained for a while, perfect game to pass time while on the bus etc
Unfortunately, I felt I had to mark you down for the lack of music, but otherwise a great entry.

He has interesting taste, I quite enjoyed this, short and simple, but comical.

Thank you 🙂 and I agree, it would need some kind of action soon

That’s strange, works in both Safari and Firefox for me and for others, also loads as a touchscreen game on mobile

Thanks 😁

They are weird and often annoying, I need to get a PC, thanks

Just read another comment, apparently there is a ricochet move? Maybe that might have helped...

Best entry I've played, great art, music and gameplay, I got stuck on the cogs though, couldn't move forward or backwards, quite frustrating as I wanted to continue playing, I got past the door, picked up the life, but then couldn't see a way out of it, just kept moving back and forth between the three rooms and dying repeatedly lol

Super glitchy, umbrellas left all over the place (I fired like 15 and they just kept lining up behind the one in front) falling out of the world, the world actually falling off of the screen, the little image of your character blocking the moves you need to press while exorcising things, no sound at all :/

The art is awesome, but it's unplayable with all these issues.

I had the exact same issue in Firefox, the music and other animations continue, but the character is frozen

Thank you very much 😁

Thank you, hope my info helps,  certainly seems odd

Thank you, I have recently been playing Earthbound, maybe I was subconsciously influenced 🤷‍♂️😅

Thanks 😁

I’m definitely not zoomed in at all on the browser and I’m on a MacBook Pro which has 3456 x 2234 resolution. I’ve played around 50 other games in this Jam and a lot more before outside of the Jam, most fit absolutely fine inside the browser, some have full screen option to combat the issue, but ocassionally a game is just too big and either the top or bottom have to be sacrificed to play.
I’m not sure what causes this, but it does crop up fairly often, 1/20 games.

A great entry.
Unfortunately there are several places where you can walk right off of the screen and keep walking forever it seems (one place is above and below the entrance to the beach) and the game glitched twice during conversations, stopping me from going any further, (the last time was on the beach after getting the boat back, the guy said it was lovely weather and it just kept repeating, nothing I pressed stopped it) I did get to the island and got that amazing gift in return for my useles, boring broom though... Hahaha
Despite the issues I really liked the dialogue/humour and the art style and missions, which are very (maybe too) reminiscent of Zelda, if it wasn't for the glitches I'd definitely have continued playing
