It's a nice concept and super cute execution. My only gripe would be that it doesn't tutorialize very well.  I had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do on the first level. Then on the level where you only had two ropes, it took me way too long to figure out that I was running out of rope and that it wasn't the game being unresponsive.

I feel like the levels where you introduce new equipment should also be more tailored to that equipment. Some levels did a good job of it and others just felt like any other level but with new equipment.

At any rate, it was a fun little game!

Once I figured out how each tool worked I had a really good time with it :)

this game is fun and interesting in its diversity of toolkits and challenges! i think some polish could be used on making each tool feel good, but the puzzle design was really interesting!

Gave it another go after not realizing how to get past the first stage, and I'm glad I did! The game's quite cute, I love the mission/strategy-turn-used structure you've got going on, and although the level design could use some work, I really enjoyed what I played.

I enjoyed it and actually felt like a puzzle game rather than a platformer (is that the intention?!)

My main complaint was it was hard to know what I could attach to and what I couldnt. Maybe I was missing a 'tell' for that but possibly linking grapple and hook to different colours or something and something to indicate what I could/couldnt go through would be good

Nice art, the concept is fun, but I had some hard time understanding it at first. I had trouble understanding what my next action would be as I didn't see the piece of paper on the left. As said below, I think the resolution on browser is not helping.

With more actions and more levels, this could turn into a neat game, good work ;)

Really nice character art and there are some good concepts here. Once I got past the first level I found it really enjoyable. Unfortunately to get past the first level I had to ask one of the makers what to do as I found it really unintuitive. Maybe a bigger hint, or some sort of common marking could show what is 'hookable' and what isn't. Still, after I figured it out (shoot the title) I had a lot of fun. Nice game

Yeah, the levels, and especially the title level was very last moment. If I was more awake at that time I would've added a little button to the Gin and Waffles title with a button "Click Here" to hook people into our game :P

to hook people into our game

i don't know whether to be laughing or groaning

Developer(+1)

Why not both? \o/

I really liked this. The animation on the character and their portrait were super cute. It took a bit for me to realize the "action" was changing up. Probably due to the small resolution in browser and not noticing the list. Would have liked to be able to go full screen.

I like the puzzle aspect of the game, it's even more a puzzle game than a platform game. It is mainly because you are constraint by the list which is a great I think.

It is a bit difficult to get around the controls and how the tools work but after that I enjoyed trying to figure out how to eat waffles.

Also: I think this is an alpaca and not a llama :p

Had a little trouble at the title screen but after that it was a pretty fun experience. You might want to make it more apparent what you can use your grappling hook on and what is a solid wall.

Great art, nice presentation and also fun gameplay!

Such a charming character! I think the physics could use some work (it seemed unpredictable exactly what I would bump into or grapple onto) but the overall design is solid.  I'd love to see some larger levels with more space to swing around!

Solid art and game play. Definitely unique.

Hope you can get the chance to rate and play my game "Throw Your Gun", thanks!

Nicely done! Super playful and artistic. :) I wonder if allowing the player to reorder the actions would allow the puzzle to be extended even further?

Developer

Thank you very much :D

And I'm curious, how would you envision that going

Submitted

I was thinking something along the lines of, you are given a pool of actions to choose from, but you have to order them and then time their invocation as the game already does. Or maybe, only one or two actions can be reordered?

Developer

Ooh that's a good point actually, I did think of another mode that might be fun to try out on this game concept perhaps. And I think that would fit it very well. Or maybe even just the typical "Hold" action like we have in modern Tetris could work in the longer run ^^

I had a challenging time with the puzzle's which was nice. Nice work on the puzzle design. The character drew me to the game but ultimately just seemed gimmicky. Understandable though. Keep up the good work!!

Yooooo!! I love this game. It reminds me of the flash games i used to play all the time. Charming, interesting and simple; a recipe for success!

So glad we got to give you a bit of a nostalgia rush, along with some charming enjoyment :D

Love your art and the aesthetic is very cute. I'm impressed with the physics, especially the swinging rope. That's something I've yet to attempt. Some of the levels were very difficult, I ended up quiting before getting through them all.

Developer(+1)

Heh, sounds like you at least got a good sample of the game, and the levels for as few as we had for a gamejam definitely had a nice ramping difficulty. No shame in not beating it there ^_~
