Holy crap, this was fun! I can imagine being that bullet and being shit-my-pants nervous, and the sound effects were on point! It's a nice little game! I would have liked for the bullet to be a bit faster, though, or the room to be a bit shorter. There's tons of only one bullet games this jam, but this is one of the nicest takes on it, and tbh I found it very relaxing / therapeutic, for some reason. I have to ask, does the sound rise in pitch when you're going fast or am I just crazy? And if it does, is the effect generated in code or do you switch the sound fx out?

Developer

I toyed with the idea of adjusting the pitch based on speed, but ended up not having time, unfortunately! What you're hearing is the natural pitching of my voice as my poor lungs expell their last ounce of air! Were we to implement that, it would probably be through code, assuming we could get the effect clean enough. I'd rather modulate it programatically rather than  triple the file size of that asset or--gods forbid--try to replicate the same scream three times.

Submitted

WRT replicating the scream: where there's a will, there's a way :P

Thanks for answering. Out of curiosity, how large was the scream sound file?

The voice acting and personality really took this in a unique direction. An interesting take on the one bullet

This is really great and not what I expected! I thought the controls were good- tighter steering when slow and nice effect when going fast. The timing challenge with the bodyguards was tricky. Great humor and storytelling, I like the foreshadowing to "Pineapple Man" outside the supermarket

This is without a double my favorite interpretation of 'Only One Bullet' in this game jam. Well done.

Developer

Thank you so much! We knew it was going to be a common take, so we decided to be the ones who had the most fun with it.

Very funny game! The lines cracked me up :D

This game is brilliant and hilarious. My complements to the artist.

Hey that's me! Thanks!

The Mona Lisa dialogue had me lol-ing. That speed up mechanic was key. I got caught on some invisible hitboxes here and there and sometimes I kinda felt like when you're bowling and you're leaning super hard to the side to try to force your ball to go - would have appreciated more fluid controls, but I dig the humor and originality of this game!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! I believe that after the game jam we're planning on releasing a patched version with updated and easier to use controls and fixing a few things here and there. Thanks for digging our humor I'm glad you got a good chuckle!

Although at first I found the controls a little bit too clunky, the game is just really funny and has a lot of personality. It's really fun to just wander around with the bullet before reaching your target. Great game !!!!

Hilarious game, energy similar to parappa. Loved everything about it, although it took me a while to get used to the controls. Great work!

Developer(+1)

You know? I don't think the Parappa vibe was intentional on our part, but I can totally see it. *makes notes for future*

Submitted(+3)

Ahahahaha that's just HILARIOUS! You guys are amazing :D

My god this shit is funny, the actual game might not be much but by odin's beard the vocal performance and the witty dialogue is totally worth to download. Would love to see other aspects of the game expanded such as tighter controls and narrower paths (Also better hitboxes) but the game had me smiling all the way.

That bloody bullet oozes charisma and it's yells will be stuck in my head for days!

Submitted(+3)

I love it! Captures the style of Rick and Morty / Accounting VR really well (assuming that's what you were aiming for).

Man, hearing the bullets monologue for the first time put a huge grin on my face. Seriously, well done on the voice acting! It was super funny, which really isn't easy to do! The game play was also very well done, and I liked how you balanced a need for speed with a need for precision so you couldn't just take the game super slow and make it trivial. Really nice job!

Submitted(+4)

The sounds effect are brilliant !
I spent a bit of time listenning to the bullet at the beginning of each assassinations ! Really great !
I did not realize at the beginning i was able to slow the time down or accelerate it ! With both option is make things wayyyyy easier ! Maybe a little tutorial will help :D

Good job !

I like this game a lot, it's a really funny comedy game and the mechanic is fun with good level design to take advantage of it. Well done, I hope to see your work again!

Developer(+1)

Aww, that means a lot! This is our second year doing this jam and it's super encouraging to hear that. <3

Submitted(+3)

Hahaha, That screaming bullet got me!
The game was great, Nice work!

Really liked it! The hitboxes were forgiving, the controls felt responsive (slow on the acceleration part, but responsive. and it also adds to the challenge), the comedy behind it was great, and you get a 10/5 on realism!
(I mean, come on. The same bullet hit three targets and still had enough energy to say thanks to him mom! Also, that market place has some really fast opening doors! Yep! Perfect for realism!)

I was hoping someone would do something like this! Obviously there's awkward controls, I was wondering if moving would've worked better with a click and drag system to tie in stronger with the "one" theme and have mobile potential, but then you need the accel deccel aswell. Cool style aswell, good job!

I love the style of this game.

The sprites, the voiceacting. I felt like I was in a Rick & Morty scene.

The game is really difficult, mainly because the controls are not responsive at all.

I’d love to play a version of this game with more responsive controls, so it actually feels like I’m controlling the bullet.

Well Done

Developer

Hey there! Awkward controls were somewhat intentional, but we're definitely interested in refining it a bit, given the time. Any chance you could put more into words what you didn't like about them?

I totally understand that the controls should be awkward, but as of now it doesn't feel like I have much control at all. like, it's almost impossible to dodge anything and the trajectory of the bullet is kinda unclear. I'm not sure what would make it better.

Submitted(+2)

A very entertaining game about assassinating, not 1, not 3, but 2 guys, and a painting. Funny, and imaginative, with the only downside being some awkward controls. Great work!

Developer

You are too kind, sir! The awkward movement was somewhat intentional, though we definitely would have liked to refine it more.  Fun Fact: The acceleration mechanics actually weren't in the original design and most of the earlier builds didn't have it; we added it pretty late in the process towards the end of the second night.  Steering used to be even more awkward, if you can believe it!
