Think the concept should be explained during gameplay instead of as text, would've made the mechanic clearer... But when I got it it was easier, still a bit unsure if I played the game right tho?

Felt very original tho

When I finally got the idea, this becomes very interesting! May could provide more information about the words and controls. The zoom display is a user-friendly design. By the way, there is a bug that when emptying ammo, the character keeps going left by itself.

Developer

Thanks a lot for this nice comment. I had the same bug but with going up by itself ;)  2 days is not always easy to clean all the bugs. Have a nice day and thanks again.

This game is very cool! the concept is very clever and i loved the visuals, with a bit more polishing it will became Amazing, keep working on it! please check out my game too :D

This was so fun! I really liked solving the puzzle of what was happening with my controls, and it was really fun and panicked to have to stop and zoom in and try and figure out what a word was before grabbing the box.

Also the maze I did was really cool! I don't really know what triggered it or what it did but it was a cool extra challenge that synergised with the hard controls really well.

Not sure what my main guy was meant to be but I like him a lot

Thanks a lot for playing my game. It seems you played the game the way I hopped people would do ;) So a big thanks for your message, for  the maze it shows that you have killed some enemies since once an enemy dies there is a chance that he drops an object and if you grab this object you can have bonus or you can be teleported to this famous maze. So this shows you were able to kill some enemies and  you are a boss ;)

For the main guy, he is quite... hairy ;) Happy that you like my hairy hero. Thanks a lot for your review I really appreciate you discovered the maze :p

More visual feedback and more balanced execution of randomness would significantly improve the game. The concept is quite creative, I had the similar idea, initially, but wasn't sure how to implement it. So, it was interesting to see your approach to the theme! Perhaps, the game isn't balanced as much as it should (48 hours is not a lot, after all), but I believe you might polish and update the game after the rating is over. In any case, the concept is great, the art is pleasing, and apart from difficulties with the randomness, I still think the whole game is quite ambitions and made well :)

Thanks a lot for your kind review ! Yes if I keep on going with this game the first thing I will try to change is the randomness of the key attribution, having to change the place of your fingers each time you get ammunition is already quite a challenge, having to learn the role of each key is clearly too much for the first levels, maybe this concept would be interesting for a couple of last levels. And I already have some ideas to make this game somehow crazy with some maybe fun additional elements, so killing the monsters would not be the only goal to reach the next level. Thanks a lot again for trying my game.

best of luck to you with it, sounds cool to me :)

This is a pretty neat concept, and quite unique from other games in this jam about movement controls breaking/being broken. I'm impressed by the variety of weapons and enemies, however, I felt like I was usually in a position where no matter how much strategy I applied, I couldn't find a way to shoot the monsters.

The art and music of this game was very inviting.

Developer

I agree, having a good strategy to kill the enemies take a long time learning curve,  I was able to do it quite "easily" but because I played the game a lot while testing for bugs and concepts during the 2 days jam. Thanks a lot for the comment about the variety of weapons, it was part of the "out of control" stuff, you never know what kind of projectile you will launch, it's totally random and that's pretty fun sometimes. Thanks a lot for trying my game.

This was a really interesting concept! Quite frustrating to play before really getting a handle on it but I'm not even sure how I'd change it as the figuring out was sort of the core satisfaction of the game for me. ^^

Developer

Thanks a lot for trying my game and your kind words ! I think the best way to improve the game is to give the new keys a less random attribution :) But I agree, figuring out what is the core of the game may be main purpose sometimes :)

Once you start understanding some of the ammo box pictures, it starts getting less frustrating. But it always feels a little tedious, especially since you still kind of have to mash through whatever four keys you find to see which ones are up/down/left/right. And because of that, aiming becomes very difficult and actually fighting things is kind of a trial.

Also I spawned between a bush and tree and couldn't move at all one time and had to restart.

Developer(+1)

You are right, I may have made a less difficult and frustrating game with no random attribution to the new keys. I somehow regret doing this  random key attribution but I'm learning ;) And for the spawn... this is unfortunately the effect of the 2 days to create a game, I haven't had the time  to create a clean game without "bug" in the start of the game since it's a randomly generated map. Thanks a lot for trying my game  I really appreciate.

I really liked the idea of having to figure out what pictogram you "picked up" and using those four letters as your navigation input. Really original!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing my game. And  thanks for understanding the purpose of my game ;) Have a nice day.

This was interesting...but I have been rating too many games that I could not understand the frystrating part

i have no idea what to do in this, the rules menu doesnt show up properly and nothing makes intuitive sense

Thanks a lot for your comment, this helps me to consider making more straight forward games ;) Have a nice day.

Okay... I've trying playing this, but unfortunately found it far too frustrating to do anything of note within it.

The art is interesting, and the pieces of ammunition are funny, and the song is fine. I have no issues with the presentation at all.

However, once I get any ammunition, the correct keys to control the character change. I read that the new keys form a word? Regardless, I never managed to guess any word, and even if I found the correct keys by testing the entire keyboard, control was so unintuitive and annoying that I couldn't do anything anyhow.

The theme relevance is understandable: you lose control of the character, and then attain it once more bit by bit, but I fear it fails simply because controlling a character with 'i' 'p' 'c' 'q' (random letters) is nearly impossible for me regardless, which means I can never control the character.

So, overall, the game was unplayable for me, due to being unintuitive and me not wanting to put the time and effort to learn new key combinations that are quite random to my fingers.

At best, simply swapping up down left right between 'w' 'a' 's' 'd' might be a good compromise that I may actually be willing to learn and put up with.

I feel bad rating this game when it was very clearly not for me, but it was in my queue, and I suppose my opinion is worth as much as anyone else's.

Apologies for the long criticism, especially as I do not know how others feel about the game, but if there's any chance my feedback can contribute or provide some insight, I would like it to help.

Thank you very much for your review ! I understand your complain and I was hopping that the formations at the start of the game would help enough to not result in finding this game too frustrating.

I'm surprised you never found a 4 letter word which could match with the picture since it really should help. It took me a while to be used to play this game the right way since I wondered if it would be possible to survive once you are "out of control" of the hero. It really took me a while.

You don't have to apologize for anything, I really appreciate a lot that you took time to give your review, I really appreciate that you gave your arguments. There are chances that this game need quite a lot of "training" to become somehow fun since the "out of control" aspect is really frustrating if you are not used to.

Thank you so much for your review, and I hope you will find other games more straight forward for you.
