Thanks for giving the game a shot! I'm glad that you liked the mood, it was a big focus, and I appreciate you thinking that the lack of input works for the game. :D
The concept is very cool and fits the mood you built really well. I love the eerie music combined with the way information is presented on screens. I really wish you'd been able to finish it or do more because I'd love to play a more completed version of this!
Thanks so much for giving the game a shot! I'm glad that you liked the mood of the game, and I wish I'd been able to finish it as well. :P
The techno mumbo jumbo text dump and eerie music certainly set the mood straight away... felt like I was in a run-down spaceship from the movie Alien! I definitely felt that everything was out of my control. Must've taken quite some time to work out all those details, story, statistical paths! Kudos for a fantastic effort, buddy! :)
Thank you so much, I really appreciate you checking out the game! And I'm glad you liked it, setting the mood and telling a story was a big goal for this one! :D
Oh this is my kind of stuff.
This is fantastic! Seriously! The amtosphere, the tone, the way the game puts you in this experiencie and the powerlessness you feel. You've really done something fantastic here.
The gripes -which are really small because i actually really liked this, seriously- are as follows.
The "send command" system is kind of weird, specially with the repeating commands, the "energy bar" and having missing commands too. It feels strange, because even if you are supposed to be out of control, seeing the engines go critical not being able to say anything is strange. Though it does add to the out-of-controlness so i'll not be too harsh with that, hahahah
Also the ending feels really abrupt. Specially with the music still going on, i stayed there for some seconds expecting something to happen.
Couldn't get to any other ending apart from dying, but man i did try, hahahaha.
Love small experiences like this. It actually surprised me completely considering your last project i tried (from the other gmtk) was all about mechanics and game feel- hah!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the detailed feedback! I'm glad you like the tone and feel of it!
As for your (completely valid) gripes, I ran out of time to make the command system work as I wanted it to. I tried for a while to make it so there would be no repeating commands, giving you a broader range of actions, but I was so brain fried and close to the deadline by that point that I just had to leave it as is. And I was going to also add events of the crew member fixing things up (to the best of their ability), but again ran out of time before I could do that. All entirely on me for poor planning, and not typing fast enough. :P
As for the ending, I admit that was a very broken and last-minute addition. The screen fades way faster than I expected, the music was supposed to fade out, and there was supposed to at least be text coming up that said "Connection Lost". That'd definitely be a post-jam-fix dealio, and I'm sorry for the state it's in now.
But I genuinely really love trying to establish atmosphere and tell stories, even if that wasn't at all what I did last year. So I'm glad you liked the game, and thank you for trying it! :D
That was a one of a kind out of control experience :P The audio is really nice, sets the right mood. The amount of things to read was a bit overwhelming considering the ship's failure happens quickly (or at least that's what i call the black screen). I liked the story telling, Good job :D
Thank you so much for trying it! Apologies for not always allowing enough time to read everything due to how quickly the ship can go down, that's an accessibility/balance mistake on my part. But I'm glad you liked it! :D
Wow, big work on the atmosphere, the music fits the game perfectly. The interpretation of the theme is really interesting and original. Well done :)
Thank you very much! Atmosphere was a big focus on this one, so I'm glad you liked it! :D
A really nice experience, however I lost upon first starting it up because I spent so much time reading all the information on screen. Second time around it went better. I don't know if I didn't get far enough in the game of if you left everything super vague on purpose, but it worked! You created a really nice and moody game!
Thank you for giving it a try! It's my bad that it's possible to near-immediately lose - I ran out of time to balance the stat changes, so the game usually ends up ending very quickly, totally my fault.
But thank you for trying it out, and I'm glad you liked the game's mood!
Oh dear, the roll of the dice was not kind to you, my friend. 😂
But thank you for giving it a shot! I'm glad you liked it! :D
awesome mood to it, it's creepy like reading a horror story but with the addition of having to take action and make decisions. Facing cosmic horror!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the mood of it! :D
Absolutely incredible mood with all the graphics and ambience :)
The absence of control makes it quite a different experience from other games - it really delivers a feel though, watching the world progress while having no control over it. Nice work!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the mood of it, that was what a lot of my energy went into trying to establish. :D
