I played it here:

Love the graphics & the introduction of the mechanics! (Although it is terrifying hurling yourself at something that looks like it'll kill you, haha)

I loved this game so much . This is a so good mechanic

All 5's from me. While some juice would go a long way to making it feel better to play the potential here is huge. Great use of theme in the mechanic, nice looking art assets and not bad audio either. Nice job on this one!

Such a neat concept! I greatly enjoyed playing this! It's got some nice tetris-like ideas but takes them to a whole new level! Also like others have said, the idea that the enemies can help and hurt, as can the blocks, is a really clever idea.

Just a little suggestions:

With shapes that are more than 3 blocks long-wide, it might be nice to have the hole be subdivided so the player knows exactly how many squares to collect. That way they don't have to go back and forth between the hole each time to check!

With difficulty curve, the 4th level introduced, (3-1 I believe it was? the one with the moving T shape) is quite a bit of a leap compared to the previous levels. It's an AWESOME level, but it might be better to have a level or two in between that introduce the multi-layered enemies and the moving shape as separate elements

And also, I think others have mentioned this, but a snap mechanic would be nice with aligning the correctly assembled shape with the hole.

But those are all really tiny things, compared to how unique and well made this game is! Really awesome job with this game! Keep up the good work!

All of those critiques are really great, so thanks for that! I really wanted to do the snapping, and I know we can, there was just some.... potential issues in the initial version causing us to opt for it being like this, but I think those actually got resolved by the end of the game. Really glad you like the game!

I really enjoyed this! The idea is super unique, and I loved the vibrant colors and beat - I could totally see this turn into some kind of pseudo-rhythm game. Nice work!

Developer

Haha I actually had looked up while we were doing this how to make all the sounds play on the beat (which I still think would be awesome!!), but decided a couple of minutes into that to just move on due to time and whatever-whatever. Glad you liked it! :D

This is brilliant! My favourite that I've played from the jam so far.

The core mechanic is fun and well-executed. The sound and visuals support it perfectly. I love how the enemies shift between hurting you and being your only hope of recovering from a mistake. I found myself wishing for an in-level restart, but not having one is what forced me to play through setbacks and actually helped the game to shine.

Enemy formations and movement patterns are varied well, and blocks with interesting new mechanics are introduced at just the right times.

My only real complaint is that I occasionally just had to watch the timer elapse on a promising run while I waited passively for the right block to appear. But even this, I hesitate to criticise, because it encourages you to make a tricky lunge for a block that's coming in at the wrong angle.

Overall, I love it. I would definitely consider buying a full-game version. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
In thinking more about the game as a whole, one of the concessions we made to the length of development time was not checking whether the shape could be a success on each change to the player. If we were to implement that, there are so many things we could do including calculating what the player would need at a particular time and determining what to provide based on that to control difficulty, etc.
Either way, thanks again for your well-written comment!

Very good game :)

I wish that you add some more easy levels, cause found it a little hard after a while.

the graphics are pretty nice too :)

Thanks for the comment! The controls are a bit finicky and could be tightened up a bit for sure, but adding in the ability to slow down time sounds awesome! Maybe on a different block.... (Also, your game is amazing, just saying.)

Great concept. Great vibes. Easy to pick up and play. I did find the floaty movement to be a little frustrating at times.
