Amazing game, its quite a nice experience I even found this game to be extremely relaxing and rewarding. The filesize is a bit on the high side but thats not an issue, the visuals are extremely good, completely selling the ilusion of playing with actual wooden blocks.

Great use of the control scheme, I was able to pick it up and understand it quite easy so kudos there, I imagine that was one of the bigges challenges for you but well done !!!

Impressive skills and amazing polished experience for a 48 hour game jam

I hope you have some time to review my game as well.

Developer

Cheers and happy you liked it!

File size is basically on a low end for an Unreal Engine game. Not too much to do about it unless you want to spend half the jam optimizing or stripping out content.

That was my first idea for this game jam ! But we discarded it as we (reasonably) thought I was too difficult for us to execute, hopefully someone was there to fully deliver! Great work, extremely pleasing, I want a full game of mesmerizing japanese joining !

Nice! We were expecting there to be more of this theme actually. Surprised that we didn't find another game for it.

If something is made out of this, there would be all sorts of advanced joinery!

Greart concept. A bit hard to control the wodblocks sometimes but with a bit more polish this become a great zen-style relaxing pussle game espacially if some levels where harder to figure out in which order to join blocks for example.

Developer

Cheers! Yeah the controls would have to be reconsidered. I think it shouldn't be fully physical, and we need to control the final steps of the placement (making sure that pieces fit in an actual satisfying way).

We have some ideas to make it a bit more puzzly. Having pieces that are interlocked and in your way, so you have to figure out the right order of solving things as well.

Possibly the use of tools to nudge/force pieces into a joint (a wooden hammer and connecting plugs). There's a lot to be explored here. Maybe even making cuts and crafting your own pieces as a solution.

Looks like you have a lot's of great ideas. Hope you can make a full release because the main concept is great.

It's actually very intressting. I also had a good conept but the controls for my game could also been imporved. If you get the time you could give it a try :)

Amazing and also what in diddly duck is this game even?!

Amazing !

The controls are a bit unwieldy at first, but fine since you can always drop planks on the floor to align them.

I wish there were more levels with more complex joints :)

Really nice game and super chill. Looks really nice! Feel more relaxed after playing it. Kind of the opposite than our game :D

Would love it if you checked it out!

I love the game! Very satisfying to control and to look at. I think the connectors should only be visible maybe in the first level and from then on be disabled. I noticed you put an option for that in the menu, but it doesnt get carried over to the next level. Anyways a lovely experience :)

Developer

Thanks for the comment! I think that would be suitable.
For the jam we decided it makes sense to make it easier to understand how to align stuff.

We didn't have time to sort out the options properly, but the way you describe it is how it should be for sure!

Really zen game! My only gripe is I wish the wood would snap into place when you get close enough to see a perfect finished product!

Developer(+2)

For sure, that was the intent from the start. Just had to cut down some on the features for the jam.

I think the game should be more slow-paced and chill, with precision sliding and really slow snapping into place for that perfect OCD satisfaction.

A quick video showing off the game.
