Really cool puzzle game, the quotes that the knights say are cool detail. Overall a great puzzle game. Good job

I liked the puzzles, though it got a bit confusing for me in the later levels. Great Game!

A really fun game - I like how the puzzles make you really crumble the mind to figure out how to solve it!

I really liked the idea! It's very creative! Nice work :)

Neat idea! I love a good puzzle game. Free feedback! :)

  • Bumping into a guard who is standing on a switch causes the switch to become unpressed even though the guard is still standing on it.
  • Level 3 potentially has the same solution as Level 2 depending on how the player solved Level 2
  • On one occasion I noticed guards staying alive on extended spikes, but dying on retracted spikes

This was an impressively deep puzzle game! I thought it was a bit simplistic during the first few levels, but you just upped the ante time after time! Really impressed with how much content there was and how much the later puzzles made me stop and think! Really impressive. And I love the mimicking mechanic, that's a really fun interpretation of the theme.

I do wish some things were more clearly explained, like what the red tiles do, and what situations kill you/the knights (like a blue spot that isn't filled in yet is a wall, so you can't walk into it, but when you're on it and it's unmade you die?). I really wasn't sure what the spikes were at first because for the first few levels that they existed, it was impossible to step on them, so it took me a while to figure out what they were. There was also a bug where the beam connecting me and the knights sometimes moved an extra space before snapping back to the right spot that (i think?) made level 10 impossible? I played mostly not full screened, which messed up all the text, but it was better when I maximized it.

Overall great, love the idea, love the puzzles, love the music, appreciate the level select menu. Great job!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzles and felt the difficulty increased at an appropriate rate. I'm definitely seeing that the mechanics of the dangerous tiles (red and spikes) weren't introduced sufficiently well for many people, and thereby there was some confusion about how they worked: something I'll try to keep in mind for the future, of course. I will say in my defense that I tested all the levels before submitting, and they all should be possible, though level 10 does feature a unique challenge where the knights must be in the proper position before you leave the starting area.

Cool idea, makes you really have to think about what you're doing. Should probably be a bit more clear about what kills you and auto-reset the level when you accidentally kill off a knight, but quite fun overall!

A nice puzzle game, I like the possession aspect adding to the movement element of the puzzles. A little tricky to know exactly what things kill you, and alot of times someone would die and the puzzle wouldn't reset. Lovely amount of charm, I like the little speech bubbles that pop up,

I like the music! I noticed that I could die from the spikes on the "a different kind of dance floor" level or whatever it was called by moving too quickly.. I don't know how it usually works but I would think that everything is calculated before your character actually moves and the spikes moving would just be aesthetic. It's just a minor bug though.

I like the necromance.

It wasnt clear what is needed to be done and why I would die sometimes.

What does the red square do in level 5?

Best one I've played so far! If there's one small suggestion I'd make, I think that the level resets a bit too quickly after you fail. There were a few times during my playthrough where I wasn't exactly sure what it was that kept killing me because of it. It's a great game though, and I'm glad you took the time to write a bit of dialogue for the guards. It really adds to the polish!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the guards' dialogue: it was a fun little detail I had fun adding. Thanks for the suggestion too: it's always good to hear how things can be improved in the future.

Suprised on how many levels you were able to create in such a sort time.

Developer

Thanks! It was really a matter of deciding what I wanted each level to introduce or showcase and working backwards from there to think about how I could get the player to contend with that.

The 10:th level stumped me hard! Neat concept, were a bit many distracting elements for my taste; like the spikes in the earlier levels that will never hurt you because of how they're lined up don't add anything. And as with any grid puzzle game it would have done great with an undo button xD

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with you that the spikes didn't ultimately turn out to be the sort of danger I wanted them to be; perhaps they would've worked better in a game with a continuous timer rather than turn-based time. Regardless, it was a fun concept to explore and implement. The undo button is a good idea too: the code does actually store the last move the player and knights have made, so it probably wouldn't have been to difficult to implement (though I've fallen into the trap of "easy to implement" before, haha).

Got through level 10/12 (lots of games to rate lol), but it's alright! Strong first impression to say the least; I will say the puzzle-solving part was somewhat tedious because if you had a stretch of two tiles to walk, you had to move to your mouse to click, back to the keyboard to move, back to the mouse to unclick, and it's a lot of switching back and forth between these which isn't the best in my opinion. The lack of collision boxes that prevented me from walking off the edge is also a bit of a downside, because I would accidentally hit an arrow key an additional time and have to restart the level, and if it wasn't so tedious to get back to where I was I wouldn't really have a problem, but yeah. Also, specifically in level 3, I expected to be unable to move through the knight, so I was using it as a wall to stay put while I moved the second knight up the left side. To my surprise, the floor disappeared for like a frame and the second knight fell through which meant I had to restart from the beginning. It's a good concept that could probably have done with better controls (maybe if there's only one knight on screen you can hit the spacebar to attach and detach? I don't want to grab my mouse if I don't need to.) All in all, a fine game with some bugs here and there, could have definitely used some more polish.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You're right that the collision between characters is a bit wonky: I spaghetti'd it together when I realized I couldn't put it off any longer. I also really like the suggestion about toggling the link with a single knight with space - would've made for a handy shortcut.

Really nice! Really challenging puzzles! The concept is a bit similar to my submission but in a grid view. My game is in a 2D platformer format. Try it out!

Developer

Thanks! Having played yours, I can definitely see the similarities!
