This is a very good example of how awesome games can be made from simple mechanics. The mechanics of this game is not hard to comprehend, but it is so much fun! The artwork of this game also looks so cute and the SFX is pretty good. Nice work for 48h! I had lots of fun playing your game!

I like the art and sound design, although it took me a game or two to figure out I was supposed to avoid the green ones too. I wish the character moved a bit faster to make it possible to survive a bit longer – right now it kind of sets a maximum possible length to the game (personally I couldn’t make it past 35s) and lowers the skill ceiling.

Overall it’s a fun concept and solid execution, though I do wonder what more one could do with this mechanic or how one might explore this further.

Thanks for the feedback! We agree that the balancing could maybe be better as the late game is mostly luck now rather than skill, though we have seen that practice allows for reaching scores up to 2.5 minutes 😝. As for the speed of the player as well as the question about expanding the mechanic, we had the idea to add more friends that change the abilities when they're stuck to the player. For example, some blobs may speed the player up or slow it down. While others may change the rate at which your health drains. We were also thinking of removing the laser enemies as they're too hard to predict, especially when there are so many of them. And yes, the design choice of having the haters be green was not the best of ideas πŸ˜… Thanks again for the feedback and for playing!

I got 46 as my biggest group! :D (56 total)

It took a bit to figure out that the bomb enemies could be used to knock off bad blobs, but once I did it really deepened the game mechanics! I loved the idea of infectious enemies that lower your max health. Great design choices!

Also the eyes following my mouse and going cross-eyed is the cutest thing ever XD

Yeah we tried to hint to that game mechanic by sneakily adding 'or use them to your advantage' in the description, but if we had more time we would probably add some kind of in-game hints to make it more obvious :) Instead we spent time on making all eyes move haha (priorities, we know 😝) Also try pressing 'w' for a fun little easter egg πŸ˜‰

Heyy, this game is so fun to play. I really liked it, especially cute eyes but i have a suggestion about smoothness. Because when I move the character, there is so tiny jittering and this is annoying, maybe it can be solved by doing interpolate, I'm not sure. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/deep-way-down for example this ludum dare game has stunning, terrific, amazing smooth gameplay with similar to your game mechanic. There is open-source code, I strongly recommend to check it out for improve gameplay :)

Glad to hear you liked it! We do actually interpolate the movement, but I indeed notice that both the player and the friends/haters sometimes don't move as smoothly as you would like, I hope it doesn't affect the gameplay that much πŸ˜…. Thank you for the feedback and the link, we'll look into that when we continue development on the game :)

The game feels very solid and the sound and art style go really well together. Its a lot of fun and I want to play it over and over again to get a better highscore. The lasers are a bit overwhelming and it would be fun to have more sorts of "balls" to give you a speed boost for example. Great work!

It is amazing! I loved how you creatively handled the theme and how fun it is. I hadn't much time to play it (laugh at my 39 score) but it's amazing how you got it done in 48h. I hope you're one of the winners :)

Super great game. I had a pretty hard time just reaching one minute and I barely did that. I think this game would feel awesome in an arcade cabinet with joystick controls.

I love that type of mechanic! Connecting little blob together is my kind of stuff. This game is super well-executed and fun. I wish to have background music to help the game feels. Overall really addictive and fun to play!

Thanks for playing and glad to hear that it is addictive and fun to play 😁! Background music is indeed something we discussed but we figured people might want to listen to their own music when playing a game like this and we didn't have the time to add a settings menu to tweak the music and game sounds πŸ˜… If we decide to polish the game later we'll definitely try adding fitting background music :)

Thanks! Yeah, the rounds are not supposed to take that long, especially since it might be too easy otherwise? There's also a little bit of a learning curve where you get better the more you play. We averaged at around 30 friends per round in the beginning, but after having played it a few times it's closer to 100 friends. Our pb is 676 tho, good luck beating that 😝
