one of the best games i played this jam. really i had a blast. I had a few good laughs when I figured out that the stuff  is connected to my cursor, also happened when i first moved my mouse, it was sensetive and pretty janky, which really helped the "virus old computer" feeling. Solid 10 out of 10.

Awesome stuff. The DPI bug is pretty much my only complaint, it's a really solid game!!!

Pretty cool idea, but the mouse sensitivity was waaay too high for me, too. The physics puzzles are super difficult because the balls go flying everywhere. Cool execution though. I got stuck on the level with the sliding balls at the bottom of the screen with the red spikes and 4 buttons to press on top.

Well made for 48 hours, well done!

Developer(+1)

Hey, so that sensitivity problem is a hardware thing, out of my control unfortunately. If that’s happening, I believe your mouse has a dpi adjustment that you could set to a more appropriate sensitivity.

And about that level, you can trigger some of the buttons using the top ball, which gives you time to reach the win button.

Oh weird. I haven't had that mouse issue with other games. I'll have to investigate. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I figured I had to use the ball, but I couldn't quite get the motions right with the sensitivity. If i can figure out my dumb settings, I'll give it another go. Thanks for the reply :)

Sensitivity is too high, for a puzzle game about precision this is a huge problem, it makes some level very unplayable. Other than that, while the $Home joke is a bit of a dead horse at this point, at least it makes more sense to use it here. Both the concept and the puzzle designs are very good, but again, unless the super high sens is intended, it's currently very severely hurting an otherwise incredibly fun game.

Hey, I'm sorry but that is a bug. I'm not sure what's causing this issue, and I'm not even sure how to reproduce it. For me (and I hope most other players??) it is just the regular sensitivity of the computer... Sorry bout this!

EDIT: thanks for chatting on discord, for future players, it seems to be a hardware issue from your mouse having a custom sensitivity / dpi control, which messes with the game.

I was expecting a drawn out joke and what I got was a really clever and original puzzler with a great theme. Amazing! It reminded me a lot of those old DOS-/Win95-games that came with these "100 GAMES ON ONE DISK" CDs, both in terms of graphics and sketchiness. With a web build this would probably go through the roof in ratings. Are you gonna explore the concept further?

This is a really incredible game! The puzzle mechanics are nicely taught, the movement is satisfyingly crunchy, and the difficulty ramps up nicely. Loved the breakout style room!

absolutely mind blowing game,i really enjoyed the game

Developer(+1)

haha thanks matey, your version of breakout is better than mine though!

Yet another terrific submission whit fine gameplay and hilarious jokes.

Hahaha, very clever gameplay. Loved the theme :) The pulling up of filenames was a little invasive (especially as I was streaming to friends at the time, and some ... filenames that I did not know were on my computer decided to waltz right on in), so i would recommend putting a warning about that somewhere before downloading. Besides that, very awesome game overall!

Developer (1 edit)

Yes, I understand this can be concerning. That was there to make you question what this weird ass software is doing, and I'm sorry that stuff got leaked. I didn't think this would be an issue being just file names, and the first instance of a file name being shown will be some sort of system file you likely haven't heard of (maybe warning you as to what's to come). But I've added a warning on the downloads, I just hope it doesn't scare peeps off =P

Edit: Though there's no way to display that warning when downloading from this jam page, kinda annoying

Submitted

Maybe add the warning to the game description or even the comment on why it fits the theme? We did the former and I saw some people do the latter to highlight important notes.

Wow, such a cool and original game! Amazing levels and gameplay mechanics. Though the theme interpretation is a bit loose in my opinion, but it’s fine. Really appreciate the availability of Linux build. The game reading files from my $HOME is very cool, though a bit concerning. :-D

Developer(+1)

The theme use was that things were joined to your mouse, and that mechanic was the focus of the game, so not sure how you missed theme.  And thanks, glad you like it!

Submitted

I didn’t say that I missed the theme, just that it’s a bit loose. :-P

I don’t usually consider the cursor as an object that joins with something. Like, when you drag a window, you don’t usually say that the window joins the mouse, it follows it. But I guess it’s just a matter of definition, so you are probably right. :-)

Submitted(+1)

Wait, the game being joined to the rest of your file-system through the messages isn't the intended implementation of the theme? :D

Submitted(+1)

I do appreciate a bit of humor mixed in with good design and levels. Seriously, each level brings something fresh, the concept was explored really well.

I was blown away many time by the clever and fresh uses of the concept. Great work.
I'm gonna run an antivirus scan just in case

Great game!

cool concept! Physics are a little rage inducing, but the game was fun nonetheless ^^

Fun, original, and charming. Great job!

I will be very surprised if this doesn't make at least the top 100.

Nearly everything was excellent, especially the level design and the plot. Having the game show some of the file names on my computer was a bit disturbing but I'll let it slide.

Overall, excellent work!

An absolute blast to play. Loved how you combined various mechanics and how you constantly changed things up. Every level felt unique and was fun and interesting. Not much wrong here tbh. Went into this not knowing what to expect and loved it lol. Amazing job. Also those pop-up windows were cool lol

Submitted(+1)

The charm of this is great. Each pop up window is it's own joke and it's gameplay is really simple, but each level feels like it shows something new. Overall amazing game!
